Ah! I was literally just about to post on the old thread asking if there was any update!
Here's the old thread

That’s really good to hear

feels like some sanity may be creeping in?

Kentgirl2525 · 07/10/2022 13:05

So women are not allowed to talk about being a women anymore….? At least not in public! I just dispose at what is happening nowadays surrounding the trans arguments…. Never could have imagined all this even 5 years ago!

Woman and despair! Bloody autocorrect

MrsOvertonsWindow · 07/10/2022 13:06

Good for her. Enraging that women have to drag these misogynists through the courts to stop them discriminating against women.
I wonder if action will be taken against the staff / councillors who took the action and made the council look like regressive misogynists? (probably not).

"It wasn't a win and even if it was, what did she win?"
In 5,4,3,2...

Blister · 07/10/2022 13:07

Well done Julie! 👏

RoyalCorgi · 07/10/2022 13:13

Great news. The really important thing is that in future they won't be able to ban feminists just because they don't like them. The agreement actually states that NCC will ask Julie Bindel's advice on organisations that can help them review their EDI policy.

Very satisfying. As with Mermaids, they brought this entirely upon themselves.

IcakethereforeIam · 07/10/2022 13:18

Brilliant, well done Julie!

littlbrowndog · 07/10/2022 13:22

🙌🏽🙌🏽

Beowulfa · 07/10/2022 13:22

Glad she did not take that ludicrous shit lying down.

Interesting that libraries are being mentioned along the lines of "assets of community value" in terms of public places where people can keep warm this winter. All sorts of reasons to keep them open- thanks Julie.

Doubt it. I suspect they have just been reminded by lawyers that they aren't allowed to discriminate.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 07/10/2022 13:27

Excellent!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 07/10/2022 13:28

Fantastic news!

TrainedByCats · 07/10/2022 13:40

Well done Julie, shame it takes legal action but hopefully other councils will be taking note

CountZacular · 07/10/2022 14:12

This is interesting. I’ve NC for this but I work for NCC. We’re currently working on our submission for the Stonewall charter. On the date of this agreement (23/09) a message went up on our intranet ‘encouraging’ pronouns in signature and an email the following week so I wouldn’t take this as a win just yet.

WarriorN · 07/10/2022 14:21

Good for Julie! 👏

Eek to incoming pronouns 😬

IamSarah · 07/10/2022 14:31

Brilliant news!! So pleased for her.

ArabellaScott · 07/10/2022 14:33

Glad to hear it.

CompleteGinasaur · 07/10/2022 14:42

Big thanks from Nottingham. A real and very unguilty pleasure to see my self-righteous, misogynistic Council so thoroughly and publically spanked. Yet again you come through for us, Julie; it is an absolute privilege to have contributed.

(Waits for Marge to pop up and tell me how I've wasted my money...)

Soontobe60 · 07/10/2022 14:45

Is there a link where we dont need to subscribe?

Thelnebriati · 07/10/2022 14:48

You don't need to subscribe using that link, just click the 'let me read it' button on the pop up.

Is there any chance Nottingham women will get their single sex Women's Centre back?

CrossStichQueen · 07/10/2022 14:55

Twatter is already filling up with the "Notts did the right thing just the wrong way so it's not a win for the GC crowed" and "why do GC always take this stuff to court they never win its a waste of time"

They are so up their own arses they are happy for the women of Nottingham to lose money and have their own council cancel an event which was set up to discuss male violence against women.

TRAs do not care about actual women. They want women silenced and kept at home.

Clymene · 07/10/2022 14:55

Good for her

MsPinkMarshmallow · 07/10/2022 15:26

Well done Julie. Depressing that they’re Stonewall captured though.
