Transwomen aren't men. Very tiny numbers of people.

She's such a bloody liar.

Some extracts:

The current process is stigmatising and traumatic. If anyone seeks to misuse the process, they'd be committing a criminal offence.

Individual risk assessments.

Abusive men are a risk to women, we shouldn't seek to be further stigmatise and discriminate against a tiny tiny minority.

Many threats to women. Real feminists should be focusing on them.

I really, really dislike her.

Last time we visited Scotland we nearly drowned the weather was so bad so I have no desire to return. I note you appear quite happy with the SNP ruining Scotland.

You almost drowned?????

What we're you doing? Sailing? Kayaking? Or just adding a bit of drama to a heavy rain kinda day whilst pretending other parts of the UK haven't spent months underwater too, like poor people in Cumbria and Northumberland?

Datun · 07/10/2022 15:18

AguaFiestaFeminista · 07/10/2022 11:44

@Datun One predator set up an entire school, focusing on riding to attract young girls.

In the UK? In the north?

It was a year so back and I cant really remember AguaFiestaFeminista, although It may have been up north.

A poster on here said her daughter wanted to go to the school, because of the riding they did (I don't think she went in the end). The head was prosecuted and jailed I believe. He owned the school.

If the advanced search on here wasn't so rubbish, I'd try and take a look for you. There was a whole thread about it.

I took it as poorly constructed hyperbole, but perhaps she did nearly drown - what with not being from an area of the world that ever gets heavy rain. Or perhaps, as you say, it was an unfortunate water sports incident.

crosshatching · 07/10/2022 15:28

Can I ask Scottish Mumsnetters are the SNP popular on other issues? Education, Health, Environment etc? I only hear reporting of NS via this issue and independence, they seem to have such a grip on power that they must be popular across the board?

littlbrowndog · 07/10/2022 15:31

There’s no one else for us to vote for really. Who stand a chance of becoming government

you can email her below if you are a fake feminist

crosshatching · 07/10/2022 15:43

That's a shame, I have been enjoying Gordon Brown weighing in here and there if he could persuade Alistair Darling out of retirement too that would be great. Horrible stats on domestic abuse I'm glad you highlighted that.

SirChenjins · 07/10/2022 15:12

You note wrong.

Delighted to hear you won’t be returning,

I see the SNP have managed to pull the wool over your eyes too! Perhaps when they haven’t got Westminster to bail them out then you might think differently

You appear confused - perhaps you still have water on your brain. What exactly makes you think I support the SNP? Just so I can laugh at your poor comprehension skills.

Insults are not argument my little friend. It’s what people do when they have nothing to say!

Baldieheid · 07/10/2022 15:59

Kellie, you came here once for a visit, almost drowned in the rain ( top tip - close mouth, it really helps), won't be back and hate the place. We get it.

SirChenjins · 07/10/2022 16:01

No, go on - you’ve made a claim, I want to see you try and back it up.

Baaaaaa · 07/10/2022 16:10

Nicola Sturgeon's motivation is to stay in power. She made an assessment that this was the best way to do that, likely some time ago before the mainstream mood changed and without truly thinking it through.

She isn't invested in 'trans rights', it was a means to an end and now she is backed into a corner and it really is her only chance of keeping power now. Backing down would be career suicide. Keeping going is only probably career suicide.

She can do so much damage though. SURELY there is something can be done politically or legally?

I don't think a lot of people know, the pro-indies don't care. The appalling Tory government just helps their cause, people would rather choose Independence than be ruled by that lot, no matter what the cost. A couple of my friends are clued up on the appalling drug death stats but I can only speak for my circle of friends. I'd guess they have no idea of self ID either and the issues it will cause.

Me? Or NS?
I've never read or watched handmaid's tale, but I gather Aunt Lydia's a baddie...I do hope it's not me.

Telling you that would be a massive spoiler. She did gouge someone's eye out though.

jeffgoldblum · 07/10/2022 16:21

@Kellie45 , why are you being so insulting about Scotland? , when all posters mostly agree? , are you trying to make English posters look bad? . I'm confused!

Baldieheid · 07/10/2022 16:21

The SNP really pissed folk off with their named person stuff, and I'm wondering if that's where the real appetite for appeasing the tra movement came from? They lost a lot of parents with that shitshow, certainly most of my friends with kids, so maybe they moved onto a fresh demographic. You're right about the drugs deaths - our figures are tragic and appalling. Tbh I think the Snp are too comfortable and have become complacent.

Baaaaaa · 07/10/2022 16:23

nauticant · 07/10/2022 10:55

I think that those in the BBC wanting to challenge this have to do it in baby steps. Mishal Husain's question went as far as it could go and still get an informative response. Anything more direct would have risked triggering reflexive "how very dare you!" outrage from Sturgeon and would have enabled something simply noisy that was even more of a non-answer.

It's shit but I'm more for what is effective in informing the audience than in sticking it to The Man.

Good points. I was frustrated she didn't challenge the what it is to "live as a woman", the tiny number, the risk, the most oppressed etc. But overall I think she did well in showing NS up.

Ummmm.....

Nope, I've checked and I've never done that. I did punch the school bully in the face and made him cry, but I was 7 at the time....

Hilarymantelspencilsharpener · 07/10/2022 16:34

Crosshatching, education standards are slipping fast - Scotland always had an incredible reputation for the quality of state education. No more, sadly.

The SNP tinker round the edges - they could have been doing so much since the last referendum to encourage people to believe in Scottish independence, encouraging business, used their tax raising powers above 1% (this would have helped people become used to the increased taxes Scottish govt would have to impose to have any hope of creating the Scandinavian utopia they're promising).

Instead they prat about with baby boxes, named person legislation, gender recognition certificates while education, health, transport etc go down the pan.

FemaleAndLearning · 07/10/2022 17:59

At the Let Women Speak event in Brighton the activists protesting chanted "you're not feminists" as if it was an insult. They keep trying new insults given calling us TERFs doesn't stop us campaigning. Nicola Sturgeon is doing the same trying to belittle women's concerns and throw this sideways insult.

Currently voting does operate largely on the basis of yes or no to indie.

They are not popular across the board, anecdotally, and from what I see of people who used to support them, this is worsening.

As noted above, they go in hard for showboat policies that look good but have very little real world impact, while the serious issues like education, health and infrastructure get literally ignored. Or fiddled (see ferries).

ArabellaScott · 07/10/2022 18:44

I should add that there are some policies SNP have done well on - baby boxes are popular. Free prescriptions. I think the NHS is doing slightly better here than south, although it's not great.

I think people are tiring of the 'it's Westminster's fault' response to absolutely bloody everything.

BlackForestCake · 07/10/2022 19:03

Up until a year or so ago I would have said Sturgeon was genuinely popular, whether you like her or not. Now I think the shine might be coming off a bit. There is no question that her party is the dominant force in Scotland, as dominant as Labour once was.

ChubbyNinja · 07/10/2022 19:20

I was quite disappointed by the interview really. I thought Mishal allowed her to waffle on for too long and the risk to women would have passed most people by.

I wish she'd challenged her on what on earth "living as a woman" means.
