People with DSD must be SO pissed off, I really feel for them.
Until about five minutes ago most people knew nothing about these mostly rare medical conditions (some more uncommon than others), I daresay medical care varied, probably by postcode lottery, but I think these were generally recognised as specific medical conditions with specific needs. I'm sure some people felt embarrassment/shame and hid their condition as much as possible. Historically some were treated wrongly, it's where the whole "assigned at birth" thing came from. I knew someone who had been brought up male, did the whole army thing etc, but then changed to female which was their actual sex but the understanding hadn't been there when they were young.
Now intersex has been press ganged into the alphabet soup, used as a third sex gotcha, and dodgy people are popping up to advocate for them when I'm sure they'd mostly like to advocate for themselves and probably would prefer to keep their medical condition private.
I highly doubt the majority of the people who are suddenly so concerned for "intersex" people actually care a jot about them, they are just being used as props.
