Moral panic about the sexualisation of youth?

The Leathersellers are the sponsors of most of the state secondaries near me.

Someone said about the exponential growth of MM and having funds and a national presence. Suddenly Stonewall et al championing a relatively small charity who clearly did not have the leadership, experience, knowledge and processes in place.

I’m beginning to think this was no moment of luck but part of a far more sinister strategy.

Not normally a conspiracy theorist but SG was a middle-aged, white mum and I now think a great puppet. I am not excusing Or minimising SG’s behaviour or homophobia.

But she found herself lauded and her choices validated. She was invited to be on boards and expert panels and she fell for it hook, line and sinker.

For people with much more nefarious interests and a different agenda SG and Mermaids with their sparkly unicorn ideas = perfect patsies.

Exactly Datun! Academia has been trying to reframe safeguarding as moral panic for at least 8 years!

I’ve had enough of it, frankly.

The NHS development is in the Telegraph and it seems like they're linking it with the RSE lessons story they also reported today, though I may not be reading it right:

It comes after this newspaper revealed on Friday that the Information Commissioner has ruled that parents do not have the right to see the content of sex education lessons urging children to become transgender allies.
Material aimed at children aged 12 and above provided by The School of Sexuality Education includes links to Mermaids and a seven-minute video urging students to become “trans allies”."

Keep your ‘sexual subjectivity’ to yourself, teacher!

No one should have to keep their long term partner or co parent secret but beyond that aspect? No!

Same goes for straight teachers/bi teachers in het relationships. Leave your whole self at home and bring your work self to work.

Queering the primary curriculum has been a stated aim of groups of activists / educators for some time . Shelley Charlesworth has done considerable research for Transgender Trend looking at the No Outsiders programme. It's worth reading down to look at the details of seminars that were run as part of a research project at the University of Sutherland way back in 2006 - 2008. One of the seminars looked at the following questions:

At what cost do we deny children’s and teacher’s sexuality?
What would it take to teach queerly? How would teachers' and children's bodies be implicated in this? What sort of subversions and reversals would it entail?
What do we lose if desire and pleasure are banned from the classroom?
What is the place of the research team members’ own bodies, desires and pleasures in this research?’

Remember - these are adults speaking about primary aged children. So many red flags flying it's amazing the whole place didn't sail away.

So certain individuals have been working at queering the primary curriculum with massive public funding for over 15 years.

Seeing as Meg John hosted a conference with Breslow as a presenter (4 years after the conference in all the news articles) I think it’s time that Place2Be were reported to the Charities Commission…

This is getting crazy now. It’s like this was all hiding in plain sight, women were screaming about it but no one did anything. This is as is the Jimmy Saville and kids club scandal had a baby. Surely with all this evidence something will be done? Or am I being way too optimistic

According to Breslau he didn’t know what the group he was presenting to did. It was all completely innocent.

Regrettably until the scandals hit the courts, I suspect even rigorous journalists will hesitate. It will take an immense amount of effort to draw all this together and - as we saw from Savile - people in charities, teachers, those seemingly doing good are protected by their apparent virtue - until the truth finally emerges.

It may be that the unbelievable discussions seminars about sex and young children are enough - you'd hope so? But these days with boundaries having been so successfully breached, I'm not sure

NC for obvious reasons. I wanted to pick up on this point. I used to work for one of those schools, years ago. I had some contact with the Leathersellers Company. They provided governors and took a great interest in the school. I never met Edward Lord to my knowledge. When I found about him a long time after I left the school I was electrified as he sounds totally different from the people I met, who were thoroughly decent, community-minded men (it's an all male institution) leading very conventional lives. I have no way of knowing for sure, but my hunch is that Mx Lord has been the one pushing donations to Mermaids. As far as I can see, they approved a substantial donation to Mermaids in 2018 or thereabouts, possibly payable over two or three years. It's all gone very quiet on the Leathersellers Twitter account since then, as they got a lot of pushback at the time. Too much to hope someone looked into matters and decided Mx Lord's recommendations shouldn't be followed so uncritically in future?

I note that Lord isn't on the Federation governing body. That should limit any possible damage.

Not one big name in Queer Theory (including Judith Butler) has ever spoken out against paedophilia as’ a line not to be crossed’, because its aim is to subvert ALL norms and break EVERY taboo (see Derrick Jensen‘s Queer Theory Jeopardy on YouTube for a succinct summary of the ideology), it was to be expected that paedophiles would gather under that tent.
