Lisa Nandy says TWAW and belong in women's prisons

And she totally supports self-ID. This is why if a general election was called tomorrow, I'd either not vote or I might even vote Conservative, though that would be painful for me.

Labour are still totally captured. I know there are good people within Labour fighting from within, but a Labour cabinet would include people like Nandy and Starmer who are staying true to Stonewall. They can't be trusted with women's rights.

I stole this from another thread: thought it deserved one of its own. Hope that's okay.

People have far more important things to deal with than hating on the 0.5% of the population. Even with the current media moral panic, trans issues have consistently been at the bottom of the polls of issues that the public are concerned about.

Labour aren't losing any significant amount of voters (as we saw from todays polling and the council results, it's quite the reverse).

It's not a problem being in an echo chamber, but losing perspective because you're in one, is.

So, secrettransengineer, what's your take on the latest Mermaids revelations?

Wish I’d seen that video before… it’s horrifying that she can be that dismissive of half the population.

I agree that lots of people are ‘locked in’… I really hope and pray that we see significant progress on this before the next elections.

(formerly Labour/Lib dem voter)

Does spoiling your vote actually COUNT?

AlecTrevelyan006 · 31/01/2023 10:49

I wonder if Lisa has changed her mind?

Rightsraptor · 31/01/2023 11:24

She's definitely one who should be door-stepped by an inquisitive journalist.

'Changed your mind yet, Lisa? If not, why not? Do please explain.'

I'd love to watch her squirm.

Yy, me too!

I've been keeping an eye out on Twitter, not a peep. Even her Legendary Single Trans Constituent who apparently forms the basis of all her what-passes-for-thought on this issue hasn't managed to offer up a useful angle yet.

I hold her in utter contempt - she's either breathtakingly callous or terrifyingly stupid - so not expecting much.

duc748 · 31/01/2023 12:51

And talked up in the Guardian and suchlike as a future Labour leader (not that Starmer is any better, the useless wet rag)! Always been a Labour supporter, currently a LP member (although maybe not for much longer), and Lisa Nandy is my MP. She will not get my vote whilst Labour persists with this absurd anti-women policy. I will never vote Tory, though.

RoyalCorgi · 31/01/2023 12:55

It would be a terrible, terrible shame if people were to share that video again, wouldn't it?

MingeofDeath · 31/01/2023 12:56

No way is Nandy leadership material, she hasn't got the intellectual capacity.

She was described as ‘thick as mince’ the other day.

She wouldn't have a hope in hells chance.

The sunlight is being directed fully now at this bizarre ideology.

I'll hold my hands up and say I was wrong, I predicted it would be women's sports that finally made this issue come roaring into the collective public awareness. It was the prisons wot did it.

And that lovely sunlight is burning any future ambitions the 'nice but dim' cowards may have had.

Helleofabore · 31/01/2023 13:07

That work by Dr Julia Long was very well done.

I actually put that up with 'I know what a dog is' and the Harrup video as a classic.

Strong women not backing down.

I agree with this tweet. Rapists should be separated nothing to do with gender

Well I agree that rapists should be separated, male sex offenders are more likely to assault other male prisoners than say someone convicted of burglary and I think men have a right to be safe in prison too.

I also agree it's got nothing to do with gender but everything to do with sex, of which there are only two and its the sex born with penises which are the problem.

And that was generous.

I don’t know whether that is true, that male sex offenders are more likely to assault other male prisoners ? Do you have a source for that ?
I thought the issue was the opposite, eg they are often attacked by other prisoners, so are segregated for their own safely, not because they tend to attack other men.

EpicChaos · 31/01/2023 19:31

The labour party position, as of 20th January 2023, so just 11 days ago was, according to bobble head dodds...
" Finally, we'd support all women in their ambitions, with a landmark new Race Equality Act and action to combat hate crimes against disabled women and LGBT+ women. "

It's still all about the T's!
There should be no mention of them at all, imo and no policy whatsoever, should be put in place to just appease them!
I will not be voting labour, they simply just can't be trusted!

FOJN · 31/01/2023 19:45

Sorry it should have said they are more likely to sexually assault other inmates and yes I was surprised. I can't work out how to attach a pdf file on my tablet but the name of the report is below which will hopefully help you find it through Google.

sexual-assaults-reported-prisons-exploratory findings

FOJN · 31/01/2023 19:46

The report does also seem to suggest that both the perpetrators and victims of sexual assault in prisons are more likely to be convicted sex offenders.

Which party offers a better option on this?

I've been told that the SDP are consistent on the WAW TWAM message.
