Sussex Police claim gc views are 'hate' when women call a paedophile a man

Extraordinary exchange on Twitter.

'This is a man, committing sexual offences against children'

'Hi, Sussex Police do not tolerate any hateful comments towards their gender identity regardless of crimes committed. This is irrelevant to the crime that has been committed and investigated. Sussex Police'

'Sussex Police, I am exercising my gender critical views, which are protected in law. Can you advise whether making such statements is a crime?'

'Hi, you can familiarise yourself with what is regarding as hate on our website here: orlo.uk/k3sOL. If you have gender critical views you wish to express this can be done on other platforms or your own page, not targeted at an individual. Sussex Police'

Even when this person wasn’t IDing as a woman when the crimes were committed, and still is not ‘legally a woman’ now?

Hadalifeonce · 28/09/2022 07:29

In my contact with Sussex police, I didn't mention his gender, neither did most other people in their comments; so I think Sussex police response is null and void.

VegetablesAreMyFriends · 28/09/2022 07:36

If they lock him up in with women and children, he's not getting a prison sentence, he's getting a reward.
Don't they see this? Or was this the aim all along?

PomegranateOfPersephone · 28/09/2022 07:44

On Radio 4 Today now. Well just finished, approximately 07:40. 1 hour and 40 minutes in to the programme.

If he was on the run how would he be described? As a man or a women as that's very important

There was a case recently when police issued a photo of a 'woman' they were looking for. I think it even said he may disguise himself as a man!

I'm honestly really scared. Does anyone else feel an overwhelming sense of dread at all this trans stuff?

It's so ridiculous. All the stuff trans people want us to say and think is crazy on so many levels. And they are such a tiny faction of our society, but they seem like they will be the ones to take us over the edge into 1984.

I just hope common sense will prevail and things can go back to normal.

I don't care how people dress or what they do in their private lives, but trying to force people not be shocked or surprised or to call you a woman or a man just because you think you are in your head, it's such a scary road to go down.

Why can't men be men with any degree of femininity or masculinity? And women be women, some more feminine, some more masculine? The issue, to me, is that the trans subset wants to recreate really strong gender stereotypes... which we've just spent 70 years breaking free from.

Yes @Wildfloral that's my response. Heightened by the difficulty feeling free to talk about it with others, I have a constant thread of visceral unease in my body ATM. It's exactly the reaction I feel whenever I read or watch something dystopian- like The Handmaid's Tale. That's why I'm on here, I feel like the world is going mad and people around me can't see it. Deeply destabilising. So glad that there does at least seem to be a growing awareness in the media, although it does at this point still feel like an unstoppable juggernaut.

To everyone who is horrified by the thought of males in female prisons please write to your MP. The Sex Matters organisation put me in touch with ‘Keep Prions Single Sex’ website and there is a template letter you can follow:

I can't write to my MP AngryAngryAngry

Your comment has made the Evening Standard and the Home Secretary has responded 👍

In his defence he is saying that just wouldn't happen.

But at the same time not believing me

I fucking despair.

My partner was like this a couple of years ago. To the extent that I had to stop talking about it as it caused massive rows. He has slowly come round now, but it’s small steps. I think part of the problem was that he kept saying , not all men, you hate men, blah blah. The media is doing a pretty good job now so I discuss it more.

lifeturnsonadime · 28/09/2022 08:31

Unless I'm missing something neither the BBC nor the ITV news reports on this mention the very significant fact that this man will be housed in a women's prison.

It's almost like they don't want the wider world to know (and get angry) about it.

Iliveonahill · 28/09/2022 08:31

He was “living as a man” ??? He is a man.

in that case am I living as a woman now? If that’s the case can I go for a run late at night and feel safe as I’m not really a woman?

KittenKong · 28/09/2022 08:38

r4 omitted the fact that legally this was and is a man and off to a woman’s jail.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/09/2022 08:38

I can't write to my MP

I'm inclined to think that MPs like Sobel particularly need to be written to, by as many constituents as possible.

JanieAllen · 28/09/2022 08:41

agree they might not respond but if you ask them to ask a question to a minister then they have to respond .. if they don't you might have grounds for a complaint against them - check parliamentary standards

pattihews · 28/09/2022 08:56

How in hell have UK establishments such as police forces, political parties, universities, schools, NHS, unions, etc. been convinced that any men can be women? How the fuck has this happened?

Yes. How many hundreds and thousands of people in positions of influence and with the power to intervene simply by saying 'Surely not? Surely it can't be right to put a man, because that's what he is, isn't he, despite the dress and the lipstick, into a women's prison? Surely it can't be right that men can walk into women's changing rooms at the gym and share their showers and loos?' just signed the paperwork okaying it in the hope of an easy life. How can any Labour MP who's supported GI, like John Sobel, expect to continue as an MP?

KittenKong · 28/09/2022 09:03

Stonewall became a sacred cow. They got £££ from ‘people’ to push this line. It benefits men and us misogynistic.

It's almost like the female inmates who are being used as props to this pedophile don't count.

Oh wait!

PomegranateOfPersephone · 28/09/2022 09:29

Male sex offender commits heinous crimes against children, UK government says here you are then we have a prison full of women, babies and young people for you, enjoy. I despair. And Lisa Nandy and Alex Sobel and others in Labour are totally ok with this, they actually think it is right? And our ancestors 200 years ago were absolutely clear that it was wrong that men and women should be imprisoned together and knew that women prisoners should have female guards only, despite all the other awful things they allowed at that time?

Ramblingnamechanger · 28/09/2022 09:32

Errol I have written regularly to Sobel. Never get a reply , I think he just bins the letters.

Key piece of information missing there.

Ask yourselves WHY women are objecting to this male being called a woman. It's not out of linguistic fussiness, it's BECAUSE HES BEING SENT TO A WOMENS PRISON.

Any politician involved in this shitshow should be damn well ashamed. How did you allow this to happen?

Is there not some way to challenge this? This is a pretty basic failure to do one of the main parts of his job (engage with his constituents). If you did that in any other job you'd face the sack. If I just refused to respond to customers in my job I'd lose my job and rightly so. If he's not even providing a waffly response at all that's a total failure, it's not even lip service.

How can they be paid so much and have so little accountability?

You can't really blame the Labour Party for this though.

This is happening under a Tory Government.

As far as I can tell there is NO BASIS in law to allow this man to enter the women's estate given that he is :

-Not even legally a woman (even under the legal fiction of a GRC).
-When the crimes were committed he didn't even 'identify' as a woman , whatever the fuck that means.
-it contravenes the Geneva Convention.

Now I think the Labour Party would fast track this in law but why the fuck don't the current Government put a stop to it?

I just don't understand how this can even happen.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 28/09/2022 09:37

In a properly functioning democracy we’d have a properly functioning opposition to challenge this practice of putting men in women’s prisons.
