I had been wondering what this actually involved. NB:

'Don’t quibble with privilege lists. If you read them from a standpoint of wanting to deny your privilege, you’ll come out having successfully denied it but learning nothing. Read sympathetically and think about it.'

So there!

(it is perhaps unsurprisingly all predicated on the reader being from the US.)

@Cattenberg, these quotes are what a privileged "cis" person is supposed to be able to say. So for a transgender person it'd be "My potential lovers do not expect my genitals to look roughly similar to the way they do, and have not accepted that before coming to bed with me". That does sound like it's talking about surprising someone.

I’ve heard of dogs starting to look like their owners but this is next level 😵‍💫

😂

Also laughing at the idea that I feel I can go to any country with my current "gender expression". I'd be arrested in several and harassed in others.

Or beaten to death by the 'morality police'. I am so angry that a young woman can suffer this for not wearing a piece of cloth over her hair. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-62930425

Yes. I don't give a damn what mindless little dick wrote that ridiculous list. The name I want to remember is Mahsa Amini. Murdered because of her sex. Like so many other women around the world. Where was their 'cis privilege'?

Mahsa Amini. Murdered because of her sex, not her gender. Murdered because she was a women, not because of anything she 'identified' as. Murdered because she was female.

"I expect be referred to respectfully without stating my preferences, or even being asked, no matter where I go, how I dress, or whom I’m talking to. If this does not happen, whatever level of anger I express will be acceptable, and I will expect the offense to be immediately corrected."

I would be genuinely astonished that this individual felt their monstrous all-too-visible dustcart of nonsense bore any relation to Peggy McIntosh’s White Privilege: Unpacking The Invisible Knapsack had that list not demonstrated a superabundance of author!ego 😵‍💫

Yet again, we see a clamour for privileges, not rights; no notion of the idea that rights are balanced by responsibilities, simply brattish “want! gimme! mine!”; and certainly no concept at all that they’ve almost entirely written a list about [white] male privilege well, they do say to write what you know

Buffypaws · 18/09/2022 07:25

Just one more insufferable prick

"My potential lovers expect my genitals to look roughly similar to the way they do

Is this not saying they expect their lovers to resemble the person’s genitals?

I think it's saying that whatever my genitals look like, you should have expected that and be ok with it.

So I present as a woman and call myself a woman and want to sleep with lesbians a cause I too am a lesbian. I have a lovely female cock. You'll express no surprise and you'll love it.

Or feel my wrath.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/09/2022 09:01

Do pardon me. I thought I was reading a list describing male privilege.

TheBiologyStupid · 18/09/2022 10:53

You were, YetAnotherSpartacus, you absolutely were.

Whatsthepointofmosquitos · 18/09/2022 12:27

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Dripping in irony. Obviously have no idea what it is like to be a woman.

The bit that made me laugh hardest thiugh was exepcting easy access to healthcare and medical treatment. Clearly this was not written by anyone in the UK!

”I feel safe” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This type of c!s women privilege:

www.theguardian.com/society/2022/sep/18/why-gender-is-at-the-heart-of-the-matter-for-cardiac-illness

Ffs The Guardian, not gender, SEX!!!

TheBiologyStupid · 18/09/2022 21:45

Yes, cake, I was shouting the same thing when I read that. A useful piece otherwise though.

MorningPlatypus · 19/09/2022 17:36

When I first joined Mumsnet over a decade ago I came into FWR wanting on about c!s privilege.

I got my arse kicked.

MagpiePi · 19/09/2022 18:37

"My potential lovers expect my genitals to look roughly similar to the way they do, "

Do you think someone once said to this person 'Gosh, it looks just like a willy, only a lot smaller"?

Many of us started there with the best of intentions.

It takes time to get your head around just how very misled we've all been.

Dingledangletheteabag · 19/09/2022 19:52

It was obviously by someone who is promoting the trans cause

MorningtonCroissant · 20/09/2022 11:34

Definitely a list of male privilege...

The misgendering one - I was misgendered a while back. I wasn't angry at all. Just very surprised. And then I considered what I'd been wearing, posture, etc and wondered if this might make me a little safer in dark streets. I can never understand the choice to put yourself in danger by attempting to look female when you're not.
