oh no, I think that for most of the parents who are part of the group the motivation is to validate the choices they've made for their own children

BJ: I think that every child is born from a female is a fact and not a belief.

Bearing in mind that most of the people involved in this case have trans children. Of course they are arguing from an emotionally highly invested standpoint.

I don’t doubt that’s why lots of well meaning parents have gotten caught up in it but there are plenty on the boards of these orgs who aren’t themselves parents of trans children.

I think a lot of the parents have been sucked in by the same sorts of social conditioning as their kids have. Teachers (and therapists and social workers too).

Exactly. All parents would be horrified at the thought of losing their child to suicide. And we know that suicidality is socially contagious, hence Samaritans having press guidelines.

and at the top of all this, there are people sitting on boards and making financial decisions and raising fund using people’s genuine concerns and fears of suicide as a bargaining/campaigning/fundraising tool.

Yes, thanks to you all for these updates. I can honestly hardly believe that MM have chosen to go down this route as I think it will end up being devastating for them. It speaks volumes about their governance and decision making processes that they have.
