Continuation thread from Antipodean fruit grower statement

A statement from the owner reads in part:

Downtime Update as of August 26th, 2022

"What I fear more than losing my site, being sued, or dealing with police is living in a world where [REDACTED] can [REDACTED] little boys and girls into [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], while normal people are not allowed to even discuss it.

The mob has already planned subsequent targets. Should we stay down, they will then attack 'gender critical' communities - especially those ran by and for women. No place can exist online which allows criticism of their [REDACTED], and nothing would excite them more than this power and domination struggle being inflicted on a female space instead."

I would link to the statement on the Internet Archive aka "Wayback Machine" but it has made all pages archived from the relevant site unsearchable (or deleted?).

Mumsnet does not permit links to the site Archive Today so that is out too.

And holding a British passport. That much was obvious all along.

I still can't access it. Has it changed addres?

Not even after following the instructions on the screenshot in Boskys post on the previous page.

This has the makings of a Channel 4/5 reality TV Programme.

Outline:

Group of MN mums interview Josh to determine the sort of English wife he might be interested in. And the sort of husband material he makes.

Then a group of nice English daughters are set tasks to prove their eligibility.

It could all be decided in an AIBU vote. One option being LTB.

I TAKE IT YOUVE ESTABLISHED HE COULDNAE HANDLE A SCOTTISH LASSIE

I think that's an old photo of Josh, he must be what late twenties by now? And now lives in Europe I think? So maybe slowly getting used to real cheese.

Too much competition.

Not sure does his dislike just extend to the English, or are Scots included.

Can you imagine. It would not just be "tidy your bedroom", it would be "get off that bloody computer".

I really hope the farmers find this thread. I'm not sure if they'll be bemused, horrified or start negotiating Jersh's dowry.

He’d need a translator.

Especially if his intended is from the Broch or the Blue Toon.

I can't seem to access it even with that. I get an error message "browser does not support webassembly".

GingerPCatt · 15/05/2023 18:32

Are you on your phone or computer? On my phone i downloaded Orbot. Turn that on and then you can access the farms on the .onion address.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/05/2023 19:06

On phone, tried with onion browser which he said works and has worked for me before. Wonder if it's my VPN?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/05/2023 19:06

Thanks for the Orbot tip, I will give it a go.

For the people trying to access via Tor, it can take a little time for the initial request because it's finding a route to the site. After the page loads, subsequent pages should be quicker. Tor browser should work on both Desktop and Android phones (don't know about iPhones but would presume it should).

I personally am blown away how attempts to silence the Farms have now resulted in many Mumsnetters taking their first steps into the world of Tor and Onion routing. Don't let the fact that Tor is entirely legal detract from the Hacker feeling, though! :)

HOWEVER, I came here to post that another event in this saga has happened. Jersh has stated now that a certificate authority is revoking his certificate. There are a range of technical levels on this forum so this will be patronising to some but I'll do a micro-overview (which will be slightly incorrect due to simplification). So I'll just apologise and explain anyway. The first thing to make clear though is that this is a certificate only for TOR protocol. It doesn't affect the return to clearnet when that happens. But it is kind of significant nonetheless.

Web security depends on digital certificates. These certify that the website you're visiting is the real website and not someone impersonating it. Nearly all websites have them and if you see a little padlock icon in the left of the address bar, that's the symbol that the certificate for the site checks out. If it doesn't the browser throws up warning messages. Certificate Authorities are organisations / services that tell your browser that a websites certificate is legitimate. I.e. so people can't just send you any old thing and have your browser believe it.

There's a way around it which is for people to manually tell their browser that the certificate sent by KiwiFarms is legitimate. It's not particularly difficult but is a PITA and can cause your antivirus or your browser to start asking pointed questions about if you really are sure you want to do this.

Again, I repeat this is specific to TOR so less of a big deal than if it were on the clearnet, but it's concerning nonetheless because it means somebody at a certificate authority (things which are basic parts of the infrastructure of the web) has decided to take action against KiwiFarms. Again, there's never been any successful legal action against the Farms and no judicial process is being followed to do this. This is simply a network of connected people and pressure causing basic elements of the Internet to be withdrawn from KiwiFarms. If that doesn't scare you, then it probably should. None of this is about law, it's just about "pull". What the Hell is going on behind the scenes?

Bosky · 15/05/2023 20:34

"What the Hell is going on behind the scenes?

People with something to hide who know things about other people who have something to hide who have their hands on the levers that control the internet?

People with something to hide who have no compunction about persecuting people close to the people who have their hands on the levers that control the internet?

People who have something to hide telling lies and sob stories to gain the sympathy, evoke a protective instinct and raise righteous anger of people who have their hands on the levers that control the internet?

Given the bad press they have already garnered for the Farms, if anyone has read that tripe then they will be under the impression that it's full of psychopathic Nazis, paedophiles and far-right terrorists. They probably will not be inclined to bother checking whether that is true before deciding they can do their little bit to save the world.

Jersh is single-handily putting the old 90’s Libertarian maxim about the internet into practice:

‘The Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.’

I’m not sure The Farms could count on support from today’s EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) given how authoritarian the ACLU, Amnesty and other free speech orgs have become.

Bosky · 15/05/2023 21:18

The EFF is not pro-KF but it is against the censorship enabled/attempted by Cloudflare dropping DDoS protection for KF
