Not sure if it is today or next week. Do we know if this is open like the tribunals?

Thank you all, v interesting and informative (and amusing at times)

nauticant · 12/09/2022 20:46

While Tribunal Tweets do a sterling job, I'd really love there to be an official transcript of this, and Sarah's case against Survivor's Network, so we can refer people back to their actual evidence later on, rather than a summarised version.

Unless I've misunderstood, I believe the judge said the hearing was being officially recorded. Assuming that's true then the question would be: can a publicly available copy be obtained and, if so, how?

nauticant · 12/09/2022 20:48

Interestingly it all came up on a non GC group chat I'm on. It seems the daylight is spreading.

I think plenty of organisations are guilty of tweeting 'not great tweets' in fairness. It's not normally seen as a matter for the court.

They do say, in relation to social media, that you shouldn’t publish anything you wouldn’t want to defend in court. At this point I suspect there are quite a few people who might be rethinking their SM use.

'Spicy straights' Grin

MissPollysFitDolly · 12/09/2022 20:59

The 'rape enabler' tweet was unfortunate but I get the impression they were just 'copy pasting' from a donations page. So yes, better scrutiny of their SM posts is needed.

'Spicy straights' Grin

I found this bit amusing -

'If I'm telling a male person who is attracted to female people that he can't define himself as a lesbian then I'm a straight person telling a straight person that he can't define himself as a gay person.'

Looks like it's a potentially interesting case for quite a lot of people. Although, of course, I'm not an expert.

Rainbowshit · 12/09/2022 21:29

The first witness could not provide any examples of transphobia from the LGBA. It it was a film AR should have dramatically stated "I rest my case" right after this bombshell. 😂😂twitter.com/tribunaltweets/status/1569341156349120512?s=21&t=Jmi934K7a6r6dVM68Cxl0w

While Tribunal Tweets do a sterling job, I'd really love there to be an official transcript of this,

I followed a link from earlier in the thread (the Jo Bartosch tweet) and the tribunal responded saying it was possible to apply to the Judge for a transcript. Here's the link to the application form.

I've been reading TT with slack jawed amazement. Can LGBA claim costs if the tribunal finds in their favour?

southbiscay · 12/09/2022 21:50

Mermaids report on day 2 of the hearing. This is really all they took from it? mermaidsuk.org.uk/news/mermaids-appeal-against-the-lgb-alliances-charity-status-day-2/

I am in despair.

I am an HCP. The bullshit that these amateurs have come up with has been allowed to trump the evidence of science and our own eyeballs. And we have allowed children to be mutilated.

What have we done?

DameMaud · 12/09/2022 22:26

Interesting to re-read this 4 years later in the context of what's happening this week...

Take the positives.

Slowly but surely the dialog is changing, the law is being clarified, the interim Cass review is making changes that will protect children from harm.

The more sunlight that can be shed on this, the more chance there is of stopping others from being mutilated, left sterile or with life changing medical impacts.

I would be very interested in such a thing

I was prepared to say "Well of course", but having read the article it seems a fair summary of the day. I suspect a strategic reverse ferret may be underway at the Graun.

WeeBisom · 12/09/2022 23:27

Bloody hell, Mermaids. He did an awful job as a witness...and yet he stuck to the catechism and managed to get out that TWAW, so that's all that matters I suppose. I suspect that this is all that really matters to them.

SallyLockheart · 12/09/2022 23:42

Just read the unrolled sub stack. OMG. It’s very bright sunlight onto the groupthink in mermaids, stonewall etc. that witness appeared to have no intellectual curiosity about anything in his field or prepared anything in advance of the tribunal case.

VaggieMight · 12/09/2022 23:44

The best approach for promoting trans ideology was "TWAW no debate". These trials blow that out of the water.

The witnesses do so badly because they're in a complete bubble. They've never had to properly formulate an argument. The most basic concepts are apparently too complex to explain, yet they're arguing that children have the comprehension to understand and make life changing decisions.

Mxyzptlk · 12/09/2022 23:48

Considering the huge array of identities for people to label themselves with , isn't it strange that the word 'lesbian' is being stretched to mean 'anyone of either sex who calls themself a woman, who is attracted to anyone of either sex who calls themself a woman.'

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/09/2022 00:00

Yes, coupled with the fact that younger lesbians seem to think the term is old-fashioned and would rather refer to themselves as "gay" or "queer".

I wonder where this need to repurpose the word "lesbian" has come from?

Binglebong · 13/09/2022 00:51

I would normally want a result to come very quickly, I part to show that the result is so obvious no deliberation is necessary because it's all so stupid. This time I hope the judge delays a bit so that it doesn't get buried. This should be headline news.

Binglebong · 13/09/2022 00:52

I apologise for the typos and sentence structure. Bed time!
