Not sure if it is today or next week. Do we know if this is open like the tribunals?

Again for clarity (from Tribunal Tweets)

PR - I don't believe that any charity that is campaigning to remove the rights of trans people to live their lives safely and fully, should be allowed to exist.
AR - despite the fact that gender critical views are protected under the Eq Act.
PR - I'm not an expert.

Even if Anne Fausto-Sterling was willing to appear in court, I'd hope that Mermaids, which identifies as children's charity, would understand how inappropriate it would be to call her as a witness.

A F-S wrote speculating that babies born with conditions causing differences of sexual development (DSDs) could be popular as sexual partners. It comes across as fetishising the future of babies with complex medical conditions.

How absolutely disgusting. Imagine being the new parent of a baby born with significant medical needs that will affect it for life and reading that your baby is really rather lucky as it will be able to offer a variety of sexual pleasures. 🚩🚩🚩🚩🤮🤮🤮🤮🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Interesting:

I think Jo Bartosch only caught a small part of today's hearing.

Thank you the thread OP, and also Tribunal Tweets - they are awesome. I can only capture one word in three and yet they reproduce verbatim.

DarkDayforMN · 12/09/2022 16:14

You don't think that anyone with GC views should be running a charity in this sector?

No.

Wow. They are fucked already. I wish I could watch this, I’m developing a several degrees removed crush on Akua Reindorf.

They're supposed to be pretending that they didn't bring this case because of their ideological opposition to LGBA....

😬

ickky · 12/09/2022 16:23

Bloody bugger it, I only just remembered to observe and it's finished for today. I will catch up with the thread.

No.

There we go.

Helleofabore · 12/09/2022 16:24

I wish I could see her in action. Akua Reindorf is very impressive. I wish I could see if she excluded the calm that Ben Cooper did.

Mr Nicholson tomorrow with possibly starting on the witness following him.

Is that MP John Nicholson?

That'll be interesting.

chilling19 · 12/09/2022 16:25

Hi Ickky!

IcakethereforeIam · 12/09/2022 16:26

Does anyone know if this is being reported on by the mainstream press? I can't see anything on the Guardian website today.

I'm only following on this thread, thanks to everyone who's contributing. It's....well...just...?

Just noticed MN is in mourning.

Popcorn for Nicholson if it is the MP. He will be just as wedded to the ideological thinking this witness was, but I cannot see him constantly falling back on 'I am not an expert'. I cannot see his ego allowing that.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/09/2022 16:27

Sorry if already covered but is John Nicholson the Scottish SNP MP?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/09/2022 16:27

Ha x posted with everyone

She did - once or twice she let her impatience show while he was wriggling around trying not to answer her questions, but basically she was awesome (from what I could hear). Unlike the remote tribunal all you get is a bird's eye view of the courtroom so facial expressions and body language are not available.

Madcats · 12/09/2022 16:28

So he was supposed to be supporting Mermaids' case? I almost feel sorry for their counsel.

Tribunal Tweets is a wonderful service. Thank you super-scribers of Twitter and on here.

babyjellyfish · 12/09/2022 16:30

Good God, that was brutal, wasn't it?

I think I'm in love with Akua Reindorf.

It is astonishing reading the tribunal tweets.

MissPollysFitDolly · 12/09/2022 16:32

Thanks for the thread OP. Some jaw dropping responses from PR today, Akua Reindorf has been amazing.

I'd really like to watch but don't like the idea of having my name on display (pretty unique first and surname) so I'll be following on this thread and thanking you all for your contributions - sterling work so far!

nauticant · 12/09/2022 16:35

Despite the instructions that came from the court, people have been allowed in displaying initial and surname MissPollysFitDolly. You could try that but there's no guarantee everyone who omits their full forename will be allowed in.

dworky · 12/09/2022 16:31

This has been posted on twitter...

That's brilliant. I also liked the bit where he said "I'm not a statistician" in response to some very simple percentages cited by Reindorf.

GodisaBC · 12/09/2022 16:36

So annoying couldn’t get in on my phone or iPad. Managed fine for Alison baileys.

Oh, thanks for that nauticant. Maybe I'll try.
