Not sure if it is today or next week. Do we know if this is open like the tribunals?

i read in tribunal tweets that they are leaving the tech issues for now and plan to sort it overnight. I have given up now and just watching it second or third hand .

This pillock should come with a big gift bow.

Even more annoying, it's intentional coyness because they know damn well they have a fixed definition of what they mean, they're just not quite brave enough to be honest about it because they know it's unjustifiable.

You say 'coy', I say 'dishonest'. I do say it quite a lot, as it happens...

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 12/09/2022 14:24

Has the pin changed because on my phone it says invalid pin. On the laptop it's waiting for the conference host to join.

AR: As an LGBT organisation, why aren't you concerned [about people who might detransition]?

PR: I've seen many trans people lead happy and healthy lives and that doesn't reflect their experiences.

Many (despite that this is unmeasured, and Mermaids et al have worked to prevent it being measured, no idea how accurate 'many' is) don't have that issue so the ones who do don't matter presumably?

And they also resist anyone else setting up an organisation that shows care regarding those they aren't buggered about.

Are they ashamed of this population for some reason?

LaughingPriest · 12/09/2022 14:28

AR - GIDS website.
‘Sexuality of young people coming to GIDS’

In 2015 of the young people AMAB 30% were attracted to males, 30% to females, 30% to both.
60% gay or bi. AFAB 50% attracted to females, 20% attracted to both. 70% gay or bi. Agreed?
PR - using your definition yes,

AR - a disproportionate number of gay young people being referred to GIDS.
10% in general population.

PR - I’m not an expert in statistics.

AR -it’s obvious isn’t it that gay people are over-represented in GIDS referrals.
PR - I’m not sure what definitions you are using?

Just look at the dishonesty on display here. Can't say that 60% is higher than 10%. And "I'm not sure what definitions' after she's explained AMAB attracted to males etc. Oh it's just far far too complicated, how could I ever have an opinion on it?

chilling19 · 12/09/2022 14:28

So the basic argument at the moments is:

Here is all the evidence that transient away the gay exists

A - Not my experience, so it doesn't exist

chilling19 · 12/09/2022 14:29

*Transing

Bloody auto correct

GrinitchSpinach · 12/09/2022 14:29

AR - LGBA are concerned with protecting gay youth and advocating for them.
It's not a conspiracy against trans people.

PR - I would disagree with that.

!!!

ImherewithBoudica · 12/09/2022 14:30

On what grounds? How?

We are at some point going to get something more than 'cos they are' , aren't we?

LaughingPriest · 12/09/2022 14:31

If you are representing trans people I personally believe it is transphobic to 'only skim-read' the Cass report.
Show a tiny bit of engagement, won't you?

chilling19 · 12/09/2022 14:33

'My brain is struggling to...'

Can't defend it.

GrabbyGabby · 12/09/2022 14:33

Do you think any inklings of regret are creeping in at all yet?
Is Susie Green making an appearance here at all, or are they hiding behind this muppet who cant read the dictionary or do primary school level sums.

OP posts:
LaughingPriest · 12/09/2022 14:33

"AR - we don't know how many people actual regret and are actually gay and lesbians
PR - I don't agree.

AR - Do you know how many there are?

PR - no.

AR - then you do agree with me."

Grin Grin That's more like it

nauticant · 12/09/2022 14:35

Roberts said earlier that gender isn't innate. Now he wants to see it is without contradicting himself. "It's not binary" is his way out of that contradiction.

ArabellaScott · 12/09/2022 14:35

I'd agree with him that gender isn't binary. But sex is, and he's denied that.

chilling19 · 12/09/2022 14:36

Complex - yes, because SW and the rest have obviated clear language, some would say on purpose.

nauticant · 12/09/2022 14:39

The GenderBread person appears!

chilling19 · 12/09/2022 14:39

So basically PR cannot provide any clear definitions to underpin the argument. Because there are none.

GrumpyMenopausalWombWielder · 12/09/2022 14:40

Place mark

Birdsweepsin · 12/09/2022 14:41

"I'm struggling to follow.."

You and me both, your Stonewall rules make no sense

Mermaids versus LGB alliance in court today??
Ameanstreakamilewide · 12/09/2022 14:41

@GrabbyGabby No way will SG give evidence. Like NK kept well away from Allison's tribunal.

They both know they talk absolute bollocks.

chilling19 · 12/09/2022 14:43

So, they are arguing that LGBA shouldn't exist because it doesn't ascribe to an ideology they cannot define.

Did Roberts really say "if you're a gay boy, you're not masculine"? How fucking homophobic is that?!

GrabbyGabby · 12/09/2022 14:45

This thread still isn't in trending... Come on MNHQ, the people deserve to see this.

OP posts:
nauticant · 12/09/2022 14:47

I think that's unfair. Roberts was, finally, agreeing that in a society of stereotypes, for many people to be masculine means being heterosexual and therefore being homosexual is perceived as non-masculine by many.
