Not sure if it is today or next week. Do we know if this is open like the tribunals?

6 days.

ArabellaScott · 12/09/2022 13:51

I think it's six days, southbiscay. Which means it should wrap up this week?

Birdsweepsin · 12/09/2022 13:52

TRAs think this is all a 'web of conspiracism' by LGB Alliance.... twitter.com/MxVivianWulf/status/1569307073950752769?s=20&t=FoaG1bTws0znxXKuR-b5CQ

Well, we've just seen someone doing that in public last week, Bernard.

<goes to live in the palace of solitude>

age play pride flag too

wanting to role play fucking children is something someone wants to fly a flag about

and the organisation who sell these flags are promoted by LGBT consortium, a registered fucking charity (almost bloody literally)

And yet they all fall apart in moral disgust if someone says no thanks, I want a sexuality which is just attracted to one biological sex and has nothing to do with gender.

That is the kink way too far. What a bloody time to be alive.

It's crazy. In my previous post I express surprise Mermaids/TRAs were so homophobic but after a bit more thought they are and always have been heterophobic so why not homophobic as well.

Basically it seems to boil down to anyone who doesn't want to date them/have sex with them is a transphobe 😂

Trying to dictate who someone should and shouldn't find attractive is never going to win the day.

ImherewithBoudica · 12/09/2022 14:06

From earlier on in the tweets:

AR - your inclusiveness does not include people who believe in same sex attraction
R - I believe that denying trans woman is a woman, trans man is a man is transphobic.

And denying that homosexual people have sex based attraction regardless of other people's subjective sense of gender and choice of identity is homophobic.

So let's get to the brass tacks here of why denying trans people is a problem, but denying homosexual people is fine? Because this is just plain saying trans people are more important and trump everyone else's sexuality and preferences and rights.

bellinisurge · 12/09/2022 14:08

We should have a public holiday to watch this comedy play out in real time. I'm only part joking.
The best thing to do is let TRAs speak. They do the work for us.

How long is this case expected to run?

I believe all week, ending on Friday.

LaughingPriest · 12/09/2022 14:08

I'm just catching up.

I wish when people reel out the old cop-out "It's not my place to come up with a definition" they could be asked "so what definition are you assuming or using?". You can't just go through life pretending a key word like 'gay' - when you are an LGBT charity - has no meaning. It's insulting at the very least.

ArabellaScott · 12/09/2022 14:09

'It's just the same as all the others. They're not fighting it to win, they're fighting it to get their legal arguments out in the world as a means to promote their viewpoint. It was always the risk of taking this case.'

God damn you LGBA for ... making Mermaids take you to court?! That's just 'now look what you made me do' all over again.

It's clear that some people are not happy at having to explain their inexplicable logic.

Even more annoying, it's intentional coyness because they know damn well they have a fixed definition of what they mean, they're just not quite brave enough to be honest about it because they know it's unjustifiable.

Also, how can you demonstrate that you're meeting the needs of the people you claim to be supporting and advocating for, if you can't define who those people are? Particularly important if you're a group claiming charitable status and fundraising on the back of your work with that group.

Birdsweepsin · 12/09/2022 14:17

It's the Shaggy defence.

Do you remember the Sonia Appleby case?

It wasn't me

References to pervasive homophobia?

It wasn't me

Have you read the interim Cass Report?

It wasn't me

But you agree that it's a devastating critique of the service?

It wasn't me

nauticant · 12/09/2022 14:19

That was great, AR took Roberts through all the uncertainties expressed by many, including those at the Tavistock, which he didn't quibble with, then said that we cannot be sure that a child who transitions might detransition and Roberts flatly denied that this could be true.

His position is theological.

I’ve eventually got in using Chrome in my laptop. I couldn’t get in on my phone nor the IPad.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 12/09/2022 14:21

What is a 'community specialist'??

ArabellaScott · 12/09/2022 14:21

Mermaids docs here, in case anyone wants to read them:

mermaidsuk.org.uk/news/mermaids-appeal-against-the-lgb-alliances-charity-status-day-1/

Ameanstreakamilewide · 12/09/2022 14:21

Ditton, @PastaForLife

nauticant · 12/09/2022 14:21

AR: As an LGBT organisation, why aren't you concerned [about people who might detransition]?

PR: I've seen many trans people lead happy and healthy lives and that doesn't reflect their experiences.
