I was on holiday last week with a gay friend in a little Suffolk village. He happened to look on Grindr and the first person to pop up was a gay man. In his exact words this man was looking for 'no-strings sex with other gay men, ideally transwomen.'
I asked my friend if it's unusual for gay men to want sex with transwomen and he explained that 'obviously as a gay man he'd rather have sex with a transwoman than a transman because he likes dick'.
This village is only an hour away from London, and yet here gay men are being extremely open on their Grindr profile about the fact they are same-sex attracted. They are clearly not transphobic if they are happy to meet up with same-sex transpeople.
Roberts would accuse them of being phobic simply because they do not share his view that gender is more important than sex. I think people with views like Roberts are a minority and I think their minority is dwindling.
