The spell is breaking......daughters finally waking up?

I have slowly and gently been countering the trans ideology that my two teenage girls have been exposed to at school and social media.
One has always been very gender critical and we have been discussing things in the news like men in women's sports, the many (many) kids identifying as "trans" in her year at school, her own registration teacher (whose child is a trans male to female) basically indoctrinating her group on trans "rights", the law in Scotland where we live etc.

My oldest girls however, was VERY much TWAW, be kind, the whole hog. She has a gay BF and I think she was confusing the issues in her mind. We have had a lot of VERY tense conversations but I hoped she would come to her own conclusions in time.
Yesterday we had a breakthrough.
We were discussing (again) women's sports and the rugby issue, the golfing/snooker issue in the news. She finally admitted that biology is important in sport, that she thinks there should be categories for trans athletes (I will work on this!) and EVEN wondered OUT LOUD that bathrooms and sex segregated spaces should include third spaces for trans people.

It was a massive admission for her.
I did then explain to her that what she just said would get her "cancelled" as a terf, that these solutions have ALL been suggested and that they are never good enough for the TRAs, that they want #no debate, unquestioning acceptance that TWAW, across the board access to women's spaces etc.

She said....."it's not fair Mum is it?".

I could cry.

I think the spell is breaking.

Have you broke through with any TWAW children or relatives?

Mine have swallowed it all hook line abd sinker unfortunately.

Younger one just informed me the new PM is no good because she says a TW is not a woman.

I explained very carefully why she might say that, sex is not immutable etc. Daughter now thinks I am the world's worst TERF :)

Hold your ground, @comfortablyfrumpy - she'll be taking in more than she lets on. Be a tether to reality for her.

"Please stop utilising people's medical conditions to leverage males into the definition of 'women'. It is offensive."

Denying that a woman is a woman because she has no uterus (whether that is because she is transgender or has Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome) is offensive.

Blimey! You are really reaching tonight.

Mayer Rokitansky Küster Hauser syndrome is a female health condition. No males have it.

From your link.

People with MRKH syndrome have a female chromosome pattern (46,XX) and normally functioning ovaries

As I posted, it is the body formed around the ability to produce large gametes that means a body is categorised as female. This means a body formed around having ovaries, whether those ovaries have ever been producing large gametes, are producing or will ever produce large gametes.

The word woman is defined as Adult human female and no males are women. Males who identify as women are transwomen or transitioned males.

Females with MRKH syndrome are women. And not one person on this thread has denied they are women.

You can resort to your usual twisting of words to suit whatever your purpose here is. But stating anyone was denying females with MRKH syndrome are women would be straight out dishonesty.

Are you saying someone was denying that females with MRKH syndrome are women?

No, they're just marking their bingo card with

"what about DSDeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees"...

We've already had:
DSDs
Women without uteruses
What about trans men and butch lesbians?
Transwomen share biology with "cis" women

How many do I need for a full house?

Oh well… with Hearache, I think we all called bingo threads ago.

I ceased to post for their benefit threads ago too. Pointing out the tactics being used and pushing back on the dishonesty helps calm dissonance.

It's not hearsay to read what she writes about trans people and conclude it's neither clever or pleasant.

This is the woman she lauded in her essay on trans people. What deeply unpleasant company she keeps.

For those lurkers or otherwise who may not have seen it, here is JKR's essay. The actual essay, rather than various interpretations which seem to be relied upon by those who espouse that JKR is transphobic -

www.jkrowling.com/opinions/j-k-rowling-writes-about-her-reasons-for-speaking-out-on-sex-and-gender-issues/

Reading the essay is what peaked me. I had heard the furore and thought 'that's a shame, I liked JKR', actually read her measured, compassionate essay and realised that if simply explaining that women need single sex spaces for their dignity and safety was considered 'transphobic', then there was no rationality or compassion behind those who determinedly push gender ideology.

And here is what she said about Magdalene Burns -

'Months later, I compounded my accidental ‘like’ crime by following Magdalen Berns on Twitter. Magdalen was an immensely brave young feminist and lesbian who was dying of an aggressive brain tumour. I followed her because I wanted to contact her directly, which I succeeded in doing. However, as Magdalen was a great believer in the importance of biological sex, and didn’t believe lesbians should be called bigots for not dating trans women with penises, dots were joined in the heads of twitter trans activists, and the level of social media abuse increased.'

Incidently, after Magdalen's tragically early death, TRA's posted truly awful things about dancing on her grave. Any point to make there, Hearache, about 'deeply unpleasant company'?

BoredofthisCrap7 · 08/09/2022 00:04

These are the lovely people YOU are siding with Hearach.
Unpleasant company?

Hilarious.
The unpleasantness, threats, violence and intimidation all come from one side, that's for sure.

Oh is this when you finally answer then whether you agree with 100% of what Stonewall representatives Peter Tatchell, Nancy Kelley and Jane Fae have said in their lifetimes?

This question has proven so difficult for you to answer you have now avoided it on three threads and it has been asked about 12 times.

yes or no?

Helleofabore · 08/09/2022 07:32

Sorry Bored. That is, of course, a question for Hearache to be clear.

Hearache is hypocritical when it comes to the purity expectations of who gives support to whom, it seems. They admitted they had not read Peter Tatchell’s opinions but still seem to support him and don’t care what he has expressed. And they know what Nancy Kelley and Jane Fae have said, we have told Hearache.

Good for them to go by hearsay, and hate founded on hype?

I do despair.

What do you expect from someone who freely admits to being brainwashed on this subject

Doingprettywellthanks · 18/09/2022 15:31

I LOVE fact my teens attend a school where this has been largely ignored.

I’ve had one conversation with them, 2 mins, we wondered how many transgender people there actually were in the world

My only concern about the entire daft scenario is how many teens will be caught up in this nonsense and the constant encouragement for introspection and questioning.

in my experience - it is more prevalent in the state school system than private

Norma27 · 19/09/2022 14:19

Same for me @Doingprettywellthanks. Other local schools and kids are captured though unfortunately. It’s the main reason I’m pleased my eldest stayed at school for A levels. Luckily she believes in biological reality. She knows men are not and can never be women, as does my youngest too.

And the great thing is… mine know that and beyond that - give it no thought! Too busy playing sport, studying and eating me out of house and home!

@Hearach15 do you have children?
