There’s something entertaining about clicking onto threads and seeing all the smarmy hate-filled gloating/attacking posts that didn’t age well. I accidentally bookmarked one of those posts on the Mermaids thread. Every time I opened the thread and something else had happened I’d see this ridiculous flailing attempt at DARVO and it only got more and more ridiculous.

Likewise, the gloating on this thread about KiwiFarms being taken down is making me smile.

They are evil pure and simple - they doxx people into committing suicide and take pleasure in hosting and providing a platform for the Christchurch mosque shootings where they hosted a torrent of the live stream. Anybody doing anything other than condemning them unilaterally needs to take a long look in the mirror.

I have waded through some of the misanthropic incel fuelled hate and nonsense on there and it is a cradle of toxic filth. I'm a fan and subscriber of Graham L and his courageous stand but KF - naaah they are a force for eveil. Avoid.

They value free speech for its own sake (which means that yes, a lot of unpleasantness is vented there) and many posters have a rather childish delight in busting taboos, which is also unpleasant to encounter for a lot of people. They also value the truth and exposing fraudsters and abusers, which is even more unpleasant for the fraudsters and abusers who proliferate on the Internet, especially those who prey on vulnerable communities.

You don’t have to actually like them to be glad that this attempt to censor the internet failed.

Suggestion: if you don’t know what you’re talking about, don’t repeat second hand rumours that have already been debunked on previous threads. There’s a lot of lies out there online, why add to them?

I'm always curious about some of the fringier areas on the interwebs and after the Christchurch shootings their name came up. I spent an hour or so having a look around and thought why does stuff like this actually exist and what good can it do for those that choose to linger and post there? Putin has said a lot about gender critical theory and come out in support of JKR but that doesn't make him remotely a source of authority that I should support or encourage. Seriously support for KF isn't a hill worth dying on.

I've made it quite clear I spend some time a long while ago having a look around and anyway it's down now so even if I wanted to back up my assertion that's out of the window. I seem to remember threads piling onto some hapless transexual who had some sort of web presence and the glee they took in doxing and coming up with voluminous 'evidence of their transgressions whatever they may be and wishing them dead. It left me feeling dirty tbh.
