Sorry I can't share the article, but liked this:

What is the funniest thing that has happened in your job?

As a result of my work in this area, apparently becoming an object of admiration on Mumsnet [the Internet parents' forum] - improbable in many ways.

Wishful thinking.

True enough. Allison Bailey never had much of a case against Stonewall and even the best lawyer in the world could not have prevented the judge ruling against her.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/08/2022 18:45

Aside from Allison winning compensation for the discrimination against her, it's also another example that you can't just discriminate against people with gender critical beliefs even if they manifest them quite strongly, and you have to treat people equally. GCC were not justified in some of the actions they took to placate genderists,

White won the case for Stonewall.

White hardly said a word, didn't cross examine anyone at all. IO QC was the lead, how weird to think that the junior barrister won it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/08/2022 18:49

Touch of sexism, probably.

If you scroll up through the thread you will see I have previously credited Ijeoma Omambala QC as well for the excellent work she did winning the case for Stonewall against Allison Bailey.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/08/2022 18:53

Then White didn't "win the case for Stonewall", did White? White assisted the QC, and hardly spoke.

Actually they are both listed as "First Respondent" in the judgements. These things are a team effort and I think they both did excellent working representing Stonewall in the case:

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/08/2022 18:55

It's also good that Allison got another judgment acknowledging that gender critical beliefs are protected, specifically including calling out coercive behaviour by trans activists towards lesbians, even when people get really really offended by it and stamp their feet.

Sure. And again you are showing your lack of understanding and knowledge about the case.

Keep it up though. It is great to see you so excited that Stonewall’s reputation will only really survive in people who share your superficial knowledge. Businesses will continue to withdraw support and I guess we will cheer from the sidelines.

Hearach15 · 08/08/2022 19:04

Just to clarify (someone sent me a DM) I am not Robin White, I am not a lawyer and I am also not an employee of Stonewall!

sweetgrapes · 08/08/2022 19:04

People seem to have a lot of concern for the 500k spent.

Well, as a feminist I do too.
It's not an investment, it's a cost so ROI is irrelevant.

I am absolutely incensed with the government for writing such poor law as the GRA and not having our backs. I will keep pushing till it's repealed.

I am livid that women are having to crowdfund and bring about these legal challenges. We pay our taxes and the government should be working for us too not just MEN.

I am furious that SEX and SEXUALITY are protected characteristics and yet a FEMALE and a LESBIAN can get treated in such a shite manner and it takes 500k for the employer to get a rap on the knuckles. Is the Equality act not worth the paper it's written on?

I am fucking furious with Stonewall for taking it's eye off the ball and letting itself get run over and turned into a HOMOPHOBIC charity. What could be worse for something that was supposed to be looking out for Lesbian and Gay rights. The fight was not done, it was not time to hang up the boots.

I hate missing my coffee to fund this shit. Don't mess with me when I haven't had my coffee.

Meanwhile, hats off to AB and Ben.
Anyone who can actually read sentences, live long and prosper.

22k is nothing when you spend 500k. If I place £50 worth of bets and win £2.20 that is a very bad day at the races.

I realise words are not your forte, but in case you didnt get it yet,
Lots and lots of us chipped in small amounts. And then we got the win we wanted.
So Sue's fiver was a winner, my 20spot was a winner, my daughters 8 quid was a winner.
Millions of women won, not just allison.
I realise you dont see it as a win for allison and fine, I cant make you see the obvious, but millions of women can see the win. And they matter more than just one person nay saying.

But anyway, you are doing us all a huge favour by keeping the thread up near the top. More people will see, more people will read and I care not which side they take so long as they are interested.

Seriously, Hearache, give it a rest. You are now just becoming really annoying. You see a win for Stonewall because there wasn't enough evidence to prove they had directly inlfuenced AB's employer. But it was never not a case to win for Stonewall as they were not the ones required to prove their claims. And fhe only reason AB wasn't able to prove what Stonewall did was because Stonewall got one of their employees to take the fall.
Whatever you say, Stonewall got slammed for their behaviour in the judgement and in the media.

I've turned my rage into something useful. 😉

Everytime someone says Allison lost or Stonewall won, I chugg my beer and put another bunch of carrots in LGBA's garden.

Come on... who's playing?

It's lovely weather, I could garden all week.

Good one, sweetgrapes!
For the past few years every time I hear some numpty like Grace Lavery or Susie Green on the radio I do a bit of gardening in a deserving allotment. It's very satisfying.

SummerLobelia · 08/08/2022 20:13

Someone on another thread asked how SW and their supporters will cope with the drubbing they got.

I said they will reframe their trauma.

And so it has proven to be.
