See if you can guess which/how many options were available for the gender and sexuality parts of an EO form I just had to fill in…

Had to fill in an equal opps form as part of the onboarding process for my new job.

Curious to see if anybody can correctly say how many and/or which options there were to choose from in the gender and sexuality parts of the form (not including “other” and “prefer not to say”).

Anyone care to venture a guess?

Nooo, they missed out the 'omnisexual', bigots!

It was on my Gender Network Newsletter, it's got a visibility day and everything Shock

I think you should complain!

Too bad for the aromantics.

Well, the grand total was… (drum roll please)

  1. Each. Plus Other and Prefer Not To Say.

6 Gender questioning
7 Genderqueer
8 Male
9 Nonbinary
10 Transfeminine
11 Transgender
12 Transitioning
13 Transmasculine

And for sexuality-

1 Asexual
2 Bi-curious
3 Bisexual
4 Closeted
5 Fluid
6 Gay
7 Heterosexual/Straight
8 Homosexual
9 Lesbian
10 Pansexual
11 Polyamorous
12 Queer
13 Questioning

Shoot me now!

someone's worked very hard to get as long a list as they can

is there really a gender of 'transitioning'?

would your employer really need to know if you were 'bi-curious'?

I'm surprised they haven't got 'straight but I feel a bit funny when keeley hawes is on TV' as an option.

why would anyone give their employer this much information about their private life?

The bit about Keeley Hawes made me spit out my tea!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 03/08/2022 08:24

They need 'swinger'.

Someone got paid to produce that form. Quite possibly there has been money given to more than one person in this world for their involvement in unleashing this nonsense upon your new workplace.

Of course, with such incredible dedication to their EO monitoring I’m sure they’re really pro-active about, for example, supporting disabled employees… 😑

KittenKong · 03/08/2022 09:11

Maybe the person who created the form was just taking the Mickey? ‘Aye right, so they want gender identity, well they’re gonna get it…’

WearyLady · 03/08/2022 09:30

An equal opps form you say? Was there no question about natal sex? I'd want to know who's really getting the promotions and well paid jobs within the company.

Pixiedust1234 · 03/08/2022 09:34

I know what I am but if I really wanted that job I would have to choose something completely different.

I think the nearest (while trying to be true to myself, would be
1, gender questioning (bc I am questioning wtf gender is about 😂)

  1. Questioning (who can argue with that, it seems a safe option)

Have fun 😂

DameHelena · 03/08/2022 09:42

I'd just email them and point out they need to change their form to say 'sex'.

BigWoollyJumpers · 03/08/2022 10:30

I just love to piss about with these kind of forms, and put something/anything that couldn't possibly be. So, how about Transgender Heterosexual?

I have actually sat in front of a receptionist with a similar form and put black jedi. Of which I am neither. Childish, yes, but it gives me a little bit of joy to be contrary. She accepted it without question, and probably put it in the bin.

What’s the point of having closeted on the form? If you tick it, you aren’t?

Oh very good, you win for wit, that had me rofl.

The result has blown my mind. For a job. In the Adult world. I was thinking mid 20s at most. What country am I in?
