So mermaids have been persuading and influencing Tavistock GIDS people and also young gender confused people with the help of 18 yr olds who are fully signed up to the cult.

Remember their massive data leak?
There were emails between Polly and Susie with P asking S for approval if NHS leaflets they were producing.

Mermaids must not be allowed anywhere near any new service provision.

I don't want Mermaids anywhere near the new centres.

In re: the NHS leaflets, it's expected and very common that public or patient-facing material should be co-produced with a patient advisory group or people with lived experience or at least passed by and agreed by them.

It's similarly expected that patient and public facing trial recruitment materials and support for ethics approval for a trial should similarly be co-produced or approved by a patient advisory group. In England, it's likely that such a trial would need to provide substantial PPIE (Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement) plans as part of their funding bids. The PPIE would include partnerships with relevant charities/patient organisations and would embed some patients and carers (not trial participants) as representatives in the Trial Management Group (to be part of the decision-making around the conduct of the study) and the advisory group or panel.

Would you please tell the Welsh government, which seems to still be committed to affirmation only and a complete ban on what it deems as conversion therapy — which is the kind of talking therapy now being adopted in England.

I think the UK govt has the faction committed too and the SNP are as nutty if not nuttier about it than the Welsh -

but that this has been so clearly set out that the centres funded will be established on proper MH support and care?

To me that suggests that those passionate factions who want affirmation only and would like to sweep under the carpet that this means in effect no counselling, no MH care, nothing at all to support or unpack feelings, just a headlong gallop towards medicalisation?

They might be being passionate and committed, but the govt have their number and the decisions have already been made.

According to the Telegraph report the full Cass Review is published next Thursday. Is that a mistake?

Did anyone else here Sue Evans on the Today programme this morning? She was very good.

WinterTrees · 29/07/2022 10:05

Being covered on Woman's Hour now, hosted by Anita Rani. I feel this would be much better handled by Emma Barnett, but let's see.

CriticalCondition · 29/07/2022 10:06

On WH now. With Anita Rani. Let's see.

CriticalCondition · 29/07/2022 10:10

So far has had clips of Keira Bell and Sue Evans. Now Newsnight journalist with the background to the Cass review. Good stuff so far.

Is that Deborah Cohen (although she's now moved to ITV) or Hannah Barnes?

CriticalCondition · 29/07/2022 10:14

Hannah Barnes.

ResisterRex · 29/07/2022 10:16

It seems to be quite muddled as to when this is being published. I couldn't find any reliable source on it but might have missed something.

I wondered if it has been written and some people have seen it, and that's what's driving some of the statements being made. If that's the case then surely it'll be published quite soon.

But it's all guessing and speculation SFAIK.

CriticalCondition · 29/07/2022 10:16

HB is being given a lot of time to explain in detail the whistle blowing and how the Cass review came about. No interruptions from Anita Rani.

ThickCutSteakChips · 29/07/2022 10:23

Since this news has come out, I can't help but keep thinking of that Irish doctor in America Sadhbh Gallgher, and her 'yeeting the teets' of vulnerable young women, with seemingly no checks and balances. Those poor women. I'm just so pleased that the brakes seems to be going on here in the UK, even just a little bit.

I know TRAs are hailing this Tavistock closure as good news because of regional centres, but I really hope that with the Cass review and everything else, that medical professionals will be working to different standards in the future, and that when they talk about treating children 'holistically' they mean it.

LizzieSiddal · 29/07/2022 10:23

Am listening -CriticalCondition, very pleased to hear such detailed and uninterrupted explanation as to what has gone on.

CriticalCondition · 29/07/2022 10:23

So it was essentially a very good piece from Hannah Barnes. Anita Rani didn't venture into it at all.
AR is back to Fluffy Friday on eyebrows now.

WarriorN · 28/07/2022 22:15

Just spotted this:

Oooh!

That looks very promising . . .

WinterTrees · 29/07/2022 10:34

Interesting that Anita Rani didn't interrupt or put any spin on it at all, and in fact that this item was included on the one day that she hosts WH. She so firmly nailed her colours to the mast (calling WH listeners who questioned Paris Lees's interview on WH and Rani's handling of it, transphobes) - that it must have caused her some discomfort to be in the WH chair for this discussion.

Not so long ago any questioning at all about the rise in girls reporting GD, the concept of ROGD, anything at all around detransitioners would have been dismissed as transphobia. Astonishing to watch the landscape change now a few crucial jenga bricks have been removed.

ThickCutSteakChips · 29/07/2022 10:35

Jesus Christ! She talking about them like they are sweets or something?

Also, rather ironic that the music in the background in 'Blurred Lines'......

LizzieSiddal · 29/07/2022 10:35

Yes and it never fails to shock, to hear how long people have been trying to raise concerns and they’ve been attacked and ignored. I wonder if any of these attackers will now apologise.

I hope she was uncomfortable to be honest.

There are a lot of people who are going to have to do a lot of backpedalling in the near future. Anita Rani may well be one of the first.

Fenlandia · 29/07/2022 10:38

Very good segment on LBC with Tom Swarbrick (who seems to have done his research) and David Bell. You can hear the anger in Bell's voice, despite how gently-spoken and careful he is. twitter.com/TomSwarbrick1/status/1552942360752955394

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 29/07/2022 10:46

Excellent leader in the Times

i think it was the deliberate failure to track treatment outcomes that is the worst thing

tells you that messing with children’s bodies was what was important, not whether it brought those children any benefit

Indeed, though it might have been hard to follow tbf for someone who doesn't know all the ins and outs of GIDS. I still think there's a way to go before the general public really understands the grim stuff of puberty blockers like removing sexual function, sterility, loss of bone density and disruption of brain maturation - and the lack of evidence or follow-up to mitigate these risks.

Slothtoes · 29/07/2022 10:57

That Newsround clip is disgusting. What about the horrible physical side effects, permanent health legacy, mental health effects and legacy of puberty blockers? Nobody knows if you just carry on completely as normal having stopped taking them. What about the fact that the blockers have no proven efficacy at all in dealing with the problem they are prescribed for- distress and anxiety in children? I’m so relieved the establishment is finally waking up to this but Jesus Christ. It’s been obvious for years and yet they shut down the conversation because it didn’t suit the male sexual rights and sexual access agenda. That shut down leaving distressed kids to be experimented on with no follow up genuinely IS transphobic.

There was a Telegraph article last night that stated Sue Evans first raised a whistleblower complaint 18 years ago - the same year the GRA went into legislation. I was gobsmacked to read that because I hadn't quite realised how far back the concerns went.

I'm sure someone has already posted the article on here but go read it if you can. It's shocking.
