Just in case anyone wanted to ask her anything.

Did she say anything in support of women's sex based rights or agree that women are AHF?

I am wondering if the maternity bill thing was that her department put forward the bill without the word mother and she is saying that within the department she was advocating for it to be included but was overruled? Can't remember which department it was but vaguely remember reading that she had a junior role.

PennyMordor · 12/07/2022 20:12

I shall look out for what Nicola Williams has to say about this.

EdgeOfACoin · 12/07/2022 20:13

Not AHF, but made the right sounds on sex-based rights and women's refuges.

However, she seems to consider that there are legal women and biological women and didn't clarify to my liking whether a 'legal' woman has the right to single-sex spaces.

Also seems to agree with gender identity.

The TRAs will be livid.

LittlePearl · 12/07/2022 20:13

She said she supported women's safe spaces, that she feels very strongly about the sport issue, and that she didn't like what Scotland is doing in terms of not keeping some provisions for women only.

LittlePearl · 12/07/2022 20:14

Perhaps I should feel relieved that she seems to be rolling back, but I don't.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/07/2022 20:16

I don't know if the Nicola who called in was Nic Williams, but I thought it sounded rather like her

achillestoes · 12/07/2022 20:17

That was definitely Nic Williams.

PM came across very well. I still wouldn’t trust her as far as I could throw her.

LittlePearl · 12/07/2022 20:18

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/07/2022 20:16

I'm certain it was her

KittenKong · 12/07/2022 20:20

So I hope someone does a nice recording of what she has actually said and what she says she didn’t say.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/07/2022 20:21

IF she's shifted her pervious TWAW position then that's really significant as she realises it's a bar to being elected.
And if she's falsely claiming that she never tried to remove the word mother and supports women's safe single sex spaces and sports, then she's demonstrating to Starmer and his merry band of misogynists what a golden bridge looks like.

And if she's upset the Owen Jones of the world then that's an added bonus. Am happy to welcome her to the side of facts, logic and women's rights while keeping a beady eye on her for any backtracking

ZaraSizeMedium · 12/07/2022 20:23

I may have missed it but she never once said she supported "single sex spaces" when talking about women's safe spaces, and she had already clarified earlier that some women are biological women and some are 'legal women'.

I think she's very careful with her words. And a liar. It's still a no from me.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 12/07/2022 20:23

So she did the whole labour thing of support sex based services etc, but is willing to redefine the word women to include men?

KittenKong · 12/07/2022 20:24

Is she said ‘hands up, I spoke bo***s’ then I may listen to her. But the whole ‘yer but no but yer, no I neffa’ is just frustrating.

Motorina · 12/07/2022 20:26

I've jsut sent this to my (tory) MP.

I wrote to you some months ago in some distress following the revelations about Boris and parties during lock down. You sent me a handwritten note, which was much appreciated. Whilst it has taken far longer than it should, I am pleased that Boris' lies have finally proved his undoing. I am a life-long conservative voter, but did not think that I could vote conservative again whilst Boris remained at the helm.

In that context I am concerned at how well Penny Mordaunt appears to be doing in the current contest. She has a clear track record of trying to remove the word 'woman' and 'mother' from legislation, and has stated in parliament that transwomen are women. I have had to go back to Hansard to confirm my memory is correct, because she claimed on LBC this evening that she had been misrepresented.

She has not been misrepresented. She is lying.

In contrast, Kemi Badenoch has impressed me with her integrity and straighforwardness. This is ironic, because I am probably closer to Mordaunt than Badenoch politically. But the last thing that the party needs is another proven liar as leader.

Ms Badenoch is the only candidate in the current line up who could convince me to return my vote to the conservative party. She is also attracting very considerable and enthusiastic support on the popular forum Mumsnet, demonstrating that many women, concerned about the erosion of our rights, as well as about integrity in high office, would cast their votes for a party lead by her. I ask you to take this into account when considering how to place yours.

LittlePearl · 12/07/2022 20:29

I think she's slippery and dangerous

PennyMordor · 12/07/2022 20:30

I wonder if Badenoch and Braverman will publicly challenge Mordaunt on this.

CharlotteOH · 12/07/2022 20:30

I wonder if Penny Mordaunt is doing so surprisingly well in the PM selection process because of her initials and how suggestible most people are…

This is brilliant!

That's what she's saying, but she's lying. Truth is the oposite:

zanahoria · 12/07/2022 20:31

It is great that she has done a 180 but not a person who you would trust

TullyApplebottom · 12/07/2022 20:33

She has the support of Miller and Boaks, I do beg your pardon, Noakes. Draw your own conclusions from that.

zanahoria · 12/07/2022 20:36

She is a chancer just like Boris

ProfessorLayton1 · 12/07/2022 20:36

Just watched the interview. Do not trust her, think she is not telling the truth.

FitAt50 · 12/07/2022 20:38

I never understand why women are so nasty to other women.
