In case we hadn’t had enough drama.

Good luck, Maya.

So, the upshot of all this is that it is direct discrimination to deter us from expressing our belief that males who pretend they are not males are and always will be males, a statement which is in accord with our law in the UK anyway.

Onward and upward sisters. 💜

Interesting from Maya’s solicitor…

Forstater v CGD: MF's direct discrim claims were also pleaded alternatively as harassment. MF won on direct discrim, so couldn't also win the same claims as harassment too, so harassment claims are classed as "dismissed". Don't misread that as claims not being well-founded.

Such a great day. I have to say Terf Island has been incredibly influential and leading the way in this fight. Terribly proud of our little Island today.

Cuck00soup · 06/07/2022 12:59

Bloody well done Maya!

And thank you.

Cailleach1 · 06/07/2022 12:59

Now that they have been found to be prejudiced and are guilty of discrimination, shouldn't they have to show they have cleaned themselves up if they receive public money for anything.

Is this what it feels like to be proud to be British?

It's good to see Marsha de Cordova retweeting Maya. Marsha was, till she resigned last year, the Shadow minister for women and equalities.

Might be timely to offer Marsha some support?

Interesting, both #maya and #sexmatters were trending on Twitter, and are inexplicably no longer trending - Twitter strikes again…

I wouldn't assume conspiracy on that one, given that it all kicked off at PMQs today, so there's been shedloads of tweets about the various aspects of that. If you look at the actually list of trending subjects rather than the usual "What's Happening" display, then she's trending 5th in the UK.

blahblahblahspoons · 06/07/2022 13:02

The Uk is definitely leading the fight back on women's rights and also, I believe safety for children. The latter isn't directly related to Maya's case although being able to name males as male is important for child safeguarding.

LovinglifeAF · 06/07/2022 13:05

I’ve only had a quick look at the judgment but the points she lost on seem relatively minor

Thebritisharecoming · 06/07/2022 13:07

Thank God for that!!! I’m so relieved.

OvaHere · 06/07/2022 13:08

Just seen this outcome. So very pleased for Maya, it's taken such a long time to get to this point. I hope her former company have the good sense not to appeal.

Fantastic. I know at least two people who will now feel they have enough protection of their beliefs to take up issues with their employers and start changing things within their organisations. So much easier to do so confidently now. Thank you, Maya. You have given hundreds perhaps thousands, of women the tools to take the fight further.

This is the point, isn't it? So great.

Look at Peter Daly's explanation. She didn't "lose" her claim of harassment.

As a lawyer of 20+ years, I’ve never enjoyed reading a judgement as much as this one!

and as for the “dismissed” claims - think of them as Plan B, in case the main claims didn’t succeed. So NBD that they weren’t upheld, as her solicitor says.

AuntMunca · 06/07/2022 13:10

The judgement has just been covered as a news item on R4's World at One programme.

BettyFilous · 06/07/2022 13:13

The World at One coverage starts 6 minutes in for anyone listening on catch up.

BunnyBerries · 06/07/2022 13:14

CONGRATULATIONS MAYA!!!

Literal years have been following this!

You are amazing amazing amazing!!!

Hopefully they won't receive any more money. The ultimate irony is a "think tank" staffed by numerous people who can't / won't think.

Love this quote from Maya: “We are all free to believe whatever we wish. What we are not free to do is compel others to believe the same thing, to silence those who disagree with us or to force others to deny reality.”

Hopefully Stonewall and others will start thinking a bit better now!

Fenlandia · 06/07/2022 13:14

Lovely pic on the Telegraph article (not from today I don't think, but they've clearly picked it out to reflect the mood!)

This is great but reading the previous judgement at the tribunal I was Shock how bad was that

Over600Ecalypts · 06/07/2022 13:16

Now of the BBC front page, above the Friend article.

Maya

The ruling is a fantastic result for Maya!

chilling19 · 06/07/2022 13:17

Yay!!!

abc5432 · 06/07/2022 13:18

Congratulations to Maya 💐what a relief and how ridiculous that it ever came to this. If only politicians would do their legislative scrutiny role properly.

kittythames · 06/07/2022 13:20

So good!
