I've not seen a thread on Amy on MN and the search didn't show up anything. She seems to be being put through the wringer by tras and by her nursing college.

I thought if she saw this thread it might be cheering Flowers, she's on twitter. I found her thanks to Bette.

This process could actually go on forever it's ludicrous, this is not a murder case, it's a College who are unhappy that a member had views they don't agree with. It should be a simple matter of:

  • checking whether stating the views is actually illegal
  • checking whether there are college policies that preclude the member from stating those views publicly
  • checking whether those policies, if they exist, were adequately communicated to the Member so that they could be compliant to them
  • confirming whether college policies relating to disciplinary/grievance procedures were correctly carried out
  • giving a judgement, taking the above into consideration, that is in line with the documented policies.

It should have all happened within months of the complaint being raised, not years and the hearing should be 2-3 days max.

i'm ashamed i paid union fees to the crnbc their views have been disappointing for years

chilling19 · 25/10/2023 22:05

Interesting that the submissions cannot rely on Forstater - don't think I quite realised how what a problem this is for other countries. The defence are having to start from a completely different baseline.

chilling19 · 25/10/2023 22:07

So this is Canada's Forstater. Fingers crossed Amy.

chilling19 · 25/10/2023 22:11

BF - I predict that she will object to Cantor.

CyberCritical · 25/10/2023 22:13

BD is really hard to listen to, there's slurred/tired quality to her voice that makes her fade in and out.

I thought she was supposed to be talking about why she thinks the Dr is or isn't suitable to be an expert, not giving a speech on the vulnerability of trans people.

chilling19 · 25/10/2023 22:17

cyber - yes, a common theme is proselytising from the transgender side because that is all they have.

chilling19 · 25/10/2023 22:20

What happens if Cantor is rejected?

What happens if Cantor is rejected?

Presumably they just have to continue without him.

chilling19 · 25/10/2023 22:23

Hmm

If there are people interested in this case but not understanding much about it, here's an article in the Canadian press that explains what Amy Hamm is accused of and what's happening in this hearing: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/bc-amy-hamm-disciplinary-hearing-1.7005480

Justsaynonow · 27/10/2023 00:17

Recap twitter thread of Day 14 (Oct 25) the date is wrong on the first tweet. Hearing will resume next week.

The CBC article referenced above is a biased and inaccurate hit piece against Amy Hamm. Here is part of Amy's response on twitter:

Hey @bethanylindsay your piece sucks and is incredibly biased. You didn’t think it was relevant to add the shocking disregard for rules when the BCCNM’s lawyer, B Findlay, invited her witness to view my hearing all day? That was the story. You buried it.

You’re no journalist.

A portion of the article which spoke of JKRowling in a defammatory way was later edited by CBC and reworded.

More information can be found on Amy's twitter account.

Anyone listening in tonight? I'm on door duty for trick or treaters so don't think I'll get to for at least a couple of hours.

Impossiblenurse · 31/10/2023 20:20

I've logged in but waiting for host to join wondering if BST has buggered up my timing? My t&t bucket is now empty so fingers crossed I don't have more visitors. Mortified I mis charactered a creeper when I thought it was a roblox.

Signalbox · 31/10/2023 20:31

I've only just joined this evening so not quite sure where we are up to.

Signalbox · 31/10/2023 20:33

Apparently it's 1.32 their time and James Cantor is still giving evidence.

Signalbox · 31/10/2023 20:36

JC is now being questioned by Karen Bastow in relation to his report so I am assuming he was accepted as an expert.

Signalbox · 31/10/2023 21:25

JC's evidence is pretty impressive. He knows his stuff.

Impossiblenurse · 31/10/2023 21:28

JC very clear. I like that he was asked to comment on marci bowers evidence and was happy to illustrate flaws. Also very clear about defining suicide and suicidal ideation and need for careful clinical management of suicidal ideation.

Signalbox · 31/10/2023 21:29

Lol bf doesn't want JC linking social media to trans identity. Says he's not qualified to discuss social media and its relationship to gender identity.

Impossiblenurse · 31/10/2023 21:36

It's so funny. Every time BF objects my phone stops audio and switches to text only. I appreciate bf has a job to do but it's hard to not to find her tedious.

It's interesting that BF is unable to tolerate exploration of opportunities for understanding and developing effective support and care. Is that the look bc nursing Council is going for?

Signalbox · 31/10/2023 21:37

Just keeping my fingers crossed that the panel are persuaded by his clarity. His evidence is so much more reality based than Greta Bauer.

Impossiblenurse · 31/10/2023 21:42

Me too. It does feel like a 'fingers crossed moment..but it really shouldn't be..the evidence is so poor.
