I mean, who wouldn't want to see this on a day out? 😡

Quite obviously, no, it isn't. What we need now is for lesbians, gay men and bisexual people to speak up and say 'Not in our name'.

We've been screaming it for years.

It gets called hate speech, we're excluded, silenced and told it would be much better if we'd be straight 'overcome our genital preferences'. So far no MPs are listening.

It's like women have been screaming too.

It's amazing how little voice and power real oppression has.

Braggiography · 28/06/2022 18:34

Yes, OP.

onmytodd78 · 28/06/2022 18:36

Why is Pride necessary for LGB anyway? I thought they had all their rights and freedoms sorted for years now.

I agree with this, it's gone far enough now and could probably do with being dialed back a little TBH.

I'm glad Lawrence Fox has got involved, it's nice to see someone with common sense making a stand.

Artichokeleaves · 28/06/2022 18:36

And there are several comments in this thread proving that for many, the behaviour of the TQ+ lobby has impacted on how they see LGB people, and they will reject us too when they throw out the insane thinking of the queer politics agenda.

As a lesbian, thanks for that. Thanks Stonewall. Women and gay rights hurled back into the dark ages because blokes liked exhibitionism and shoving boundaries, and shoved until it broke, and no one these days ever has the guts to say no.

The world is becoming a fucking miserable place to have to live in, as a woman and as a homosexual.

NorthStarRising · 28/06/2022 18:44

Way back when, Pride wasn’t a kiddie fest with free ballon modelling and cupcakes. It was a protest, attended by adults.
It’s evolved over the last fifty years, into an all-inclusive generic festival, and now it’s evolving again.

Everyone knows that Pride is for pups and adult babies.

Sorry slight derail but on the topic of adult babies...

I saw this YouTube video this morning. Be warned it's not an easy watch/listen.

I thought about starting a thread but I had no idea what to put in a post to accompany it, I just couldn't find the words.

Outwiththenorm · 28/06/2022 19:18

I don’t know how new any of this stuff is, just more obvious with social media perhaps. DH and I went to Sydney Pride about 25 years ago and there was a strutting naked man with an erection that he’d painted bright blue.

BootsAndRoots · 28/06/2022 19:18

I would not be surprised if that man is not gay/bisexual.

Time and time again people with other agendas attach themselves to the gay rights movement.

Drunkandalone · 28/06/2022 19:19

Lgbtq Is sexual preference. And so yes it’s a celebration of non heterosexual sex

What do the T and Q mean?

PonyPatter44 · 28/06/2022 19:36

LF is an obnoxious cunt, I'm not getting on board with ANY of his loathsome rhetoric. Yeah thats lovely that he's GC, but apart from that he can just fuck off with his vileness.

The enemy of my enemy is not always my friend.

What do the T and Q mean?

Trans and whatever you want it to mean

MaudeYoung · 28/06/2022 19:47

@PonyPatter44 The thing to do with those whose views you oppose is to listen to what they say and construct reasoned arguments against them with a view to persuading and informing them so that they change their position. That is the founding premise of any democracy.

I think it is very deliberate that he has his interview with KJK as his pinned post, just as he is getting loads of attention for his swastika profile picture. He knows exactly what he is doing and it's a shame KJK allowed herself to be manipulated by it tbh.

His video he put out yesterday about Kathy Burke was also absolutely pathetic and so transparent. What a cunt he is.

HydraWater · 28/06/2022 20:00

LF is the counterbalance to NO DEBATE.

Good to see him challenging the RTAs at last. If they have a decent argument against his points, that's good. But throwing your toys out of the prams is not good enough when faced with an opposing view.

Sunshine10012 · 28/06/2022 20:03

Personally I don’t think pride is for children point blank. The world has come along way in recent years, children generally know they’re free to be who they want and by the time they grow up the world will be even more open.
but they don’t need to get involved in the celebration of adults sexual preferences and they definitely shouldn’t be witness to deviant pervs like this one.

IReallyLikeCrows · 28/06/2022 20:06

None of my lesbian mates go to any pride stuff these days. We all used to go when I lived in Brighton and then just stopped because they felt completely unwelcome.

Yeah, this is no time for party politics, as Baroness Nicholson said on Sunday. These are issues that need a coalition of everyone and we'll sort out who is on whose Christmas card list when women and homosexual people and kids have their rights left intact.

Much bigger issues to worry about.

goingback · 28/06/2022 20:13

its the latest bandwagon, and now businesses have to be seen to celebrate and take part, including my employer which has changed the company logo to rainbow, had badges made, email signature options change from or in addition to the pronouns, workshop invitations with specially invited guests, etc. Not anti Pride or anything diverse or inclusive but i have no interest in this so please leave me alone to get my work done

Laurence Fox does not give an 'opposing view'. This is a man who made his Twitter profile picture a fucking swastika, purely for the attention. He doesn't make any points, he just stirs shit and stokes division. We do not need pricks like him in any way shape or form.

limitededitionbarbie · 28/06/2022 20:17

Last year when I went there were A LOT of men in leather dog masks and on leads. I don't like that look at all and it frightens me a bit to be honest but I don't know why.

Clymene · 28/06/2022 20:17

When I used to go to pride in London in the 1980s, there was a bit of leather and that was it.

It was lesbians and gay men wearing jeans and vests, marching to the park by the Oval and then drinking.

I have photos and there were no: furries, trans (except for the odd drag queen), bdsm, adult babies, or naked stuff.

There were no kids either.

The bid to make it family friendly/corporate happened in parallel with the fetishists parading their kink on the street.

What has that got to do with pride? No one cares what kind of sex you're into.

ThickCutSteakChips · 28/06/2022 20:18

Oh and you were deluded if you think Laurence Fox gives one shiny shite about women's rights remaining intact.

BootsAndRoots · 28/06/2022 20:25

Crazykatie · 28/06/2022 19:41

Not a sexual preference though. And Queer is now mainly used by heterosexual people to describe themselves.

Everything else aside, this is a spectacularly shitty comment to make.

Pride for LGBTQ+ people was a reaction to the abuse, attacks and systemic oppression faced by people in that community. Pride was to show that they weren't afraid, refused to stay hidden, and wanted to show they were not ashamed of who they were.

It is not making a fucking fuss, nor should they be forced to 'do it quietly'.

Straight people are not persecuted, oppressed, or abused for being straight so even your stupid comment about having Pride for being straight and co-opting the struggles of so many people is frankly a bit disgusting.

Kink at Pride is one thing and I can understand being uncomfortable with that. But to correlate 'one guy being gross' with 'everyone at Pride is making a fuss about being gay and I don't really know why' is... not it.
