Smirky is likely to be the person who high-jacked the Edinburgh abortion rights demo to make it about trans rights.

'living as a woman is complex and maybe not something that can be captured in an act' - Sharon Cowan

If it's too complex to put into law then wtf is the whole exercise for?!

OP posts:
Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:03

As far as I can tell, Sharon is saying

'we have no evidence of an uptick in applications from other countries' - therefeore we shoudl justhope for the best

and

'its too complext to define a woman'

therefore we shoudl just hope for the best

Absence of evidence is not bloody evidence of absence, to misquote a phrase

'living as a woman is complex and maybe not something that can be captured in an act' - Sharon Cowan

If it's too complex to put into law then wtf is the whole exercise for?!

Exactly! Wtf?

Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:15

Yeah, I want to see the transcript on this.

Find it wild that 'we just don't have any evidence so why worry'? is a response.

Here she goes again with 'it's complicated'

OP posts:
Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:16

'ask someone else'

OP posts:
Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:20

expanding the definition of a woman ' we can't do that, can we?'

Rachael Hamilton

No, Rachel, we can't!

OP posts:
Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:26

'if trans people tell us they are finding barriers is it not our duty to remove them?'

  • Emma Rodick
OP posts:
Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:27

Emma does not seem to be very bright. The witnesses are being very polite in their responses.

OP posts:
seXX · 14/06/2022 11:30

Naomi correctly says we shouldn't remove barriers to people getting whatever they want.

It's so ridiculous, I don't have a medical licence, my barriers are that I don't have a medical degree or any medical qualifications and it would cost me money to get all that so therefore I should just be allowed to be given a medical licence because I want it and I identify as a doctor!

Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:32

Yes. Wild that these are law-makers.

I suppose the qualifier there was a self declaration of 'being trans'.

So - anyone who says they are trans must get everything and anything they ask for. Was, I think, Emmas argument.

OP posts:
seXX · 14/06/2022 11:32

repeatedly no definition of what 'trans' means, or what 'living as a woman' means. How can they possibly change a law when they have no definitions?

WearyLady · 14/06/2022 11:41

I've been very impressed with Naomi Cunningham and Karon Monaghan, but I'm puzzled as to why there aren't any Scottish legal experts on the subject. Forgive me if I've come in too late on the committee and perhaps missed someone who fits the bill in this respect.

Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:41

Sure it'll be fine, seXX. Nobody knows, there is no evidence - what could possibly go wrong?

OP posts:
Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:43

Aha.

David Parker, Lead Clinician, National Gender Identity Clinical Network for Scotland.

This may be a good time to note that the NGICNS links to WPATH documents and includes a link to the 'Eunuch' identity.

www.ngicns.scot.nhs.uk/information/wpath/

That is the NHS Scotland, linking to information on Eunuchs, who have an identity that involves castration and has some very troubling links/history.

OP posts:
Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:44

Sorry, to be clear, the 'Eunuch Archive' has some troubling links/history

Thanks @Waitwhat23 I thought I'd seen something about this. Career criminals know how to play the system, a big loophole here.

Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:45

So that is an NHS website/service linking to WPATH documents that link to the Eunuch Archive as a resource.

OP posts:
Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:48

I really wish one of the people on the committee woudl ask about the link to the Eunuch Archive being shared by the NHS.

OP posts:
Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:48

4,ooo people waiting for a 1st appointment

1,000 are young people

In Scotland

OP posts:
seXX · 14/06/2022 11:49

the waiting list has doubled in 2 years! That's worth an investigation surely?

Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:49

4,000 is about double from 2 years ago

OP posts:
Hagiography · 14/06/2022 11:50

Ask him about the Eunuch Archive, Fulton!
