Free beer for men at Bills' restaurant

Bills are offering free beer to men for Father's day. I asked them on their live chat if Transmen are included in the offer. The reply was 'it shouldn't be a problem'. So I replied 'ok so as Transmen are bio women are all bio women included in the offer in line with equality?' The answer 'I'm not sure but we do consider all of our customers to be equal'. As this appears as a politicians reply & does not answer my question I have sent them an e mail with my question. I await the reply.Any thoughts?

I’m guessing the OP is turning around what would happen if the bar said they were giving our free beer to mums on Mother’s Day (as did happen ‘not all mothers are female’ etc) and the capitulation of companies at the first whiff of protest.

What's with all the policing how women protest in this thread?

Have we been infiltrated by TRAs?

I have been deleted for saying this thread is so ridiculous that I thought it was a put up job to make the women who post on here look ridiculous.

Please see my reply to prelatechuckles.

And Bills and free beer is the best way to make your point OP?

If you re read you will see I did not use the word new. In terms of regulations you must be living under a rock. Just one example amongst many is the fact that 'trans women' can legally compete in female sports. Do you need more? Are you not able to google yourself?

OP: "My desired outcome is to bring to the fore front the stupidity of the new self identifying regulations."

Also OP: "If you re read you will see I did not use the word new"

It's the dishonesty I can't stand. I'm out.

Bollindger · 05/06/2022 09:05

This is so easy to solve. Just show Bills your child or a copy of the Birthcert of your child and your ID.
If you look like a man free beer on Father's , if you look like a woman, free Mother's Day drink, if your the step parent you would need to be with the child.
I don't care how you dress , but in your heart you know the truth.....

Why the fuck are you targetting Bills?

Bills aren't writing documents for the health service where they remove the 'women'. They're not harping on about menstruating or chestfeeding. They're not an elected MP who's opening prison cells in a women's prison to men, suggesting that men can grow a cervix or stating that women have penises. They're not sending death threats to JKR or organising pile ons to Rosie Duffield.

So of course, you choose to pick a fight with them.

Use your nugget and think about the following questions.

Do you really think this is a way to get people on your side?

Do you sound any less batshit than the blue haired TRAs?

The answer to both questions is 'No'.

Is OP "targetting Bill's" or is OP considering taking an opportunity to raise issues in the hope that by raising issues issues are raised?

I honestly think that when companies make an offer for men or women is is worth asking them eactly that they mean. It might even help them anticipate a problem and they might be grateful. It might simply educate the person who has to deal with the query.

I think you sound somewhat batshit for thinking that it is batshit to make sure that - in a very confused world - people (making decisions at Bills) are not confused.

KimikosNightmare · 05/06/2022 12:33

The OP and this thread is making the gender critical cause look ridiculous. It isn't raising issues.

Telling women they're not raising awareness correctly sounds pretty misogynistic to me.

Dismissing another woman's opinion with the catchall gotcha of "misogynistic" sounds , well pretty misogynistic to me.

"Dismissing another woman's opinion"

So we're in agreement, your first comment was misogynistic.

No. Sarcasm probably isn't your thing. "Misogynistic" or "internalised misogyny" is such a knee jerk response on here.

This is ridiculous. Restaurant offers free drinks to men and the OP's first reaction is "what about trans men???"

motherandchildreunion · 11/06/2022 10:23

I didn't get a response from Bill's after a week so decided to ring my local branch, the woman (the manager?) I spoke to told me that they have men's and women's toilets rather than unisex.

I asked what would they do if there was a man in the women’s toilet and she said that it was company policy to contact the police if there was an issue with patrons causing trouble in the restaurant and staff were not to approach them, I asked her what would happen if a man wearing a dress was in the women's toilet not causing trouble but women found them offensive and she didn't really understand what I was talking about and repeated that if it became an issue and escalated then the police would be called.

I honestly don't have any faith that Bill's are interested in women and children's safety and will not be eating there.

Conflictedunicorn · 11/06/2022 10:30

Hallyup89 · 02/06/2022 08:15

I don't see the issue as long as all women and transwomen get a free drink on Mother's Day. You're stirring unnecessarily (and probably talking to some young person who didn't know how the hell to respond to you).

Why would transwomen get a drink on Mother’s Day? They’re not mothers

I imagine they'll be gutted to lose you.

Have you ever even been to a Bills?

motherandchildreunion · 11/06/2022 10:40

No, I hadn't heard of them before this thread and have now added them to my boycott list.

erinaceus · 11/06/2022 10:43

There are quite a lot of people arguably most people who are not engaged in the transgender/GC debate. The entire issue and conversation is not on their radar. Among them, quite possibly, is the person on the Bills live chat in the OP and/or the woman @motherandchildreunion spoke to.

I suspect that if you aggressively question these people about hypothetical cross-dressing men in their loos, or women claiming free beer on father's day, apparently out of nowhere, you just sound a bit bonkers TBH. At the very least, if you wish to establish whether an establishment is prepared to act in whatever way you think appropriate, your conversation might go better if you gave the person on the other end some context ("Are you aware of the potential change in the law" or similar).

erinaceus · 11/06/2022 10:44

Sorry I didn't mean for the strikeout there ^^

LondonQueen · 11/06/2022 10:52

Don't see the issue, I've been to lots of places where I've had a free drink for my birthday or mother's day, even before I was a mother!

That's a good idea, they were in a bit of a rush when I rang them last night.

I'll try again when they are quieter

man alive. i'm as terfy as they come, but this is looking like the definition of why we can't have nice things

let Bills do something nice for Dads on fathers day without giving them the third degree.

this is free beer, not prisons or hospital wards. focus, people!

Thanks Bear, I like to think I'm helping keeping women and girls safe in my own little way.
