JK Rowling's wealth increased by another £30,000,000 last year

Despite the hatred and death threats, despite giving so much of it away and being sidelined by Hollywood and all the insults, according to the Times annual Rich List JKR's wealth increased by £30 million last year. Well done, Jo.

She’s doing phenomenally well.

I hope she keeps up her work on the Galbraith books, I am really enjoying them.

I presume that even when Hollywood sideline her they still need to pay her a pretty penny to use Harry Potter. As they should.

Funny, isn't it - it's almost as if all the attempts by a minority of extremists to cancel her has zero impact on the general book-loving, film-going public.

I'm really enjoying the Strike books. Not many authors can write so well for both children and adults; it's a rare skill. Thought Fantastic Beasts was weak myself, but obviously others like it.

I hope she treats herself to a nice tin of shortbread.

And all earned through her own work, imagination and perseverance. A good example for any child to get on and achieve their dreams. I'm pretty certain the money is of no great importance to her, except to support the charities and causes she believes in.

I'd never read any of her books until last year. Hearing all the hate she (wrongly) received made me purchase the Strike novel that the TRAs were focused on. I loved it and have the next one on pre-order 🤣🤣🤣

I remain astonished that she pulled the entire Potterverse out of her head. Dazzling!

Her continued successes are a two finger salute to those who would wish otherwise, mwa ha ha.

I read all the Strike books last year and loved them (got the new one pre-ordered). Now working my way through the HPs for the first time too and loving them. She’s gained a new fan in me.

I have bought sooooooooooo much additional Harry Potter merchandise (and additional copies of the books) over the last couple of years. I used to keep a lid on my childish enthusiasm for HP but not anymore! Every time I buy something I am cheered by the thought I'm putting money in her pocket.

Good for her!! Just proves that real talent can't be crushed by a bunch of hysterical shriekers. JK is very brave to stand up to them and I wish more would do the same!!

Yes but I think there are more children than we realise who don't agree with the TRA ideology but are too scared to be vocal about it because they know they'll be horrendously bullied by both children and adults if they voice their respectful beliefs.

Children have JKR as a hero - and they love her books - when adults says she's 'problematic' or has 'problematic views' and can't back it up with convincing evidence then they don't take it well in my experience. In fact there's a lot in her books which mirrors this exact situation.

When Dolores Umbridge was in charge of Hogwarts the majority went along with her crazy regime because she had power and they were scared. As soon as a few stood up to challenge her, most people admitted they'd agreed with Harry and Harry had a lot less compelling evidence that Voldemort was back than we have that biology is real and there's a sex binary, which matters, in humans.

And knowing her, a large part of that £30M will be given away.

Good for her. And she pays taxes with it and donates loads to charity so it's good for all of us.

Thats excellent! She is a real inspiration . I think she is so brave as she still speaks out for women ,in spite of "having so many death threats I could paper my house with them!" She would be a billionaress but has given away a lot to Charity .Wonder how many others (esp men) could say the same?
