They're pathetic. The visuals of a bunch of idiots clad in black, preventing women going near a suffragette statue of all things, and the video of one assaulting a woman by it has done them no favours.

So obviously, a he/him on twitter has taken to telling a tale of him and his partner seeing a bunch of evil wimmins drinking, and then the "aggressive drunken transphobes" decided to "harass, scream at, swear at and insult" his partner for wearing a stonewall tshirt, making her so upset they had to go home.

And Lo, a number of local councillors and Nancy Kelley immediately flock to offer support, solidarity and masses of "so sorry this happened". Yet a grand total of fuck all to say about what happened at the statue, a video of which is all over twitter. 😡

He/Hims video on the other hand, which apparently misses the worst bits 🤔and some photos??? have yet to see the light of day.

BorgQueen · 16/05/2022 11:16

Why were they allowed to stand there looking like a paramilitary group?

It should be illegal to have your face covered like that in public - how is it not, at the very least, a breach of the peace to be deliberately intimidating and prevent people looking at a public statue?

The Police should have made them remove their balaclavas and /or move them away from an organised and lawful event.
Bunch of utter fucking cowards.

Mandodari · 16/05/2022 11:23

@BorgQueen
You can bet your bottom dollar that the ones in the whinging ninja outfits were the very same ones screaming about their civil liberties this time last year when they are asked to wear a face mask in shops.

ScreamingMeMe · 16/05/2022 11:34

Footage from Stephen Knight

ScreamingMeMe · 16/05/2022 11:48

Charlie Veitch (quite funny little clips):

I like how you can tell which of the two masked people in black was AFAB because of how they tug their top down over their bum

We were saying the same thing last night. My husband said he might go to the football dressed like that at the weekend and see how far he gets??! I suspect I'd be collecting him from a police station.

Absolutely loving the nicknames - “Black Pampers” is a particular favourite, along with “The Provisional TRA”. I wonder if they know how they’ve made themselves look?

But the bit that made me laugh until I snorted was when the person tried to engage them in conversation on camera: “Blink once for yes?” Grin

Waitwhat23 · 16/05/2022 12:26

The Leader of Manchester City Council has tweeted to say how sorry he is that a TRA in a Stonewall t-shirt was 'harassed' but has said nothing at all it seems about black clad thugs pushing a woman about, despite there actually being evidence.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 16/05/2022 12:27

Charlie Veitch (quite funny little clips)

yes they were, I don’t often watch the clips but I particularly liked the last one where he was trying to give a compliment to the balaclava wearing wanna be intimidators

How extremely astonishing, I could never have predicted that outcome.

littlbrowndog · 16/05/2022 12:35

How is the leader of Manchester City council is not condemning the fact that the black pampers were trying to stop women speaking.

and that a woman was physically attacked.

WTAF is wrong with these people I don’t understand their stance at all.

is it they don’t like women speaking ?

This, this is the important bit.

Groups protest. One group is criticised and questioned by the police, one group is protected and permitted to act as they please.

That's not on. That's direct discrimination against women and anyone expressing gender critical views.

Quite. Pat Karney in the same thread condemning the nasty wimmin. Not a word for the women in St Peters Square. When people question why I wont vote Labour this is why. We are invisible to them. The power differential is astonishing.

The trans activists in the clip mostly look so very young. I do wonder how much they are aware of what they're actually protesting.

I spoke with a young man (wearing a dress) who told me that rape and torture are legal against trans people. His logic was conversion therapy is rape and torture and conversion therapy against trans people is legal therefore rape and torture are legal against trans people. He would NOT accept several of us explaining that all rape and all torture is illegal regardless of who it is aimed at. Just would not accept it.

Oh, dear. Where do we even go with this type of delusion? There always will be people who are very mistaken in their views; the problem is that we need institutions like the police/legislate etc to not reinforce the delusions.

They're a bit confused, aren't they? I once spoke to a person on Twitter who identified as non binary in the sense of not having a sex (even though it was obvious which sex they were highly likely to be from photos) and this person believed that because of this they had no legal rights or protections at all, in any sense.

BraveBananaBadge · 16/05/2022 13:15

BirdyRose has tweeted exactly what I was thinking - the protesters left what very much looked like a noose around the Pankhurst statue's neck. Just think what Marion Miller had to go through over a ribbon on a fence! And as pp have said, why on earth did police not order them to remove the balaclavas?

When people show you who they are, believe them and all that...

SpindleInTheWind · 16/05/2022 13:21

It's that old tale again of them being privileged enough to able to play at identifying as oppressed. Why they would want to be thought of as oppressed rape and torture victims is, to paraphrase Father Ted, a psychological matter.

If it is the woman who is one half of the married couple, their story keeps changing and doesn't seem very credible anyway.

According to the women, this couple were following them. And they didn't scream at them and they weren't asked to leave. Also why wouldn't you point your camera at the action?

This tweet from 'Safe Lives' dedicated to ending domestic abuse.

"Anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse. The ‘I Am …’ exhibition is about survivors sharing their voices and the exhibition should not have been misappropriated by anyone trying to make a political point.
It does a huge disservice to all those pictured and their own personal stories, and is unacceptable. Domestic abuse and those who have survive it are no one's symbolism."

A domestic abuse organisation criticising women for standing in front of the exhibit. They're in front of the exhibit because they were harassed, abused and in one case manhandled .. the police moved them there.
Talk about not fit for purpose.
