I found this fascinating video on Twitter. Philosopher Peter Boghossian was carrying out a thought experiment around the statement “There are only two genders” in the street outside the social work department of Portland University.

A group of people come out to challenge him. Watch what happens when it comes to the point that they cannot challenge him further and realise to continue means they will actually have to engage.

Yes, exactly, Gertrude and beastly. These young women march in so full of their own perceived importance when in reality they have precisely zero idea. They can’t even begin to grasp what they don’t know. And Peter Boghossian, who does know, is the model of gentleness and patience with their ill-informed rantings.

It’s hilarious but simultaneously chilling and profoundly tragic that we find ourselves here. Thank god for the two that agree with him - and even the one who admitted she might be willing to change her mind a bit.

The other two are beyond all redemption at this point.
