#I support a trans inclusive ban

Has anyone else seen the pictures of various MPs holding pink boards saying this?
a combination of smug idiocy, but also totally incomprehensible, to me, anyway. What they're trying to say is that trans should be included in the conversion therapy ban. But I do know a bit about this (thanks largely to MN) and I'm not sure that that is the message that will come across.

I was disappointed to see Diane Abbott holding one. I thought she had more sense.

IcakethereforeIam · 11/05/2022 08:16

I read that as 'number 1 supports.....', clearly I'm not the target audience.

Diane Abbott is sitting right at the front of the trans train and has been for ages

It's a really stupid slogan that 95% of the population won't have the foggiest idea about.

Public ignorance / misleading the public is what TRAs have always banked on and what’s got them so far.

Zerogravity · 11/05/2022 08:39

It reminds me so much of the Chris Morris "cake" prank which was hilarious and scary at the same time as it just goes to prove that some people will agree with anything if they are told they are on the "right side". 🙄

Helleofabore · 11/05/2022 08:43

Who ever thought that wording was clever needs a sense check. The majority of people who see that will take away the opposite message.

IvyTwines · 11/05/2022 08:44

I don't think Labour want to be in power. They're a sort of student politics Peter Pan party who never grow up.

ResisterRex · 11/05/2022 08:49

It's already been subverted:

I support a transfer inclusive ban, I don't think women's sports should be trans inclusive, nor women's toilets, I definitely read it in a different way, is that their idea, everyone supports this as both sides can read into it what they want?

Artichokeleaves · 11/05/2022 08:57

This whole movement is now one sea of word salad, incomprehensible at this point to even those who know the ideology.

But then as we saw in yesterday's farce, not even those in the highly paid jobs at the very top, leading the dissemination of it all and training MI5, know what they're on about or have a grasp on reality.

OldCrone · 11/05/2022 08:58

This thread is about what can happen to vulnerable young people when total affirmation is all that's permitted.

If exploratory therapy (including exploring the possibility that someone isn't really 'trans') is banned on the pretext that such therapy is conversion therapy, there will be more young people who end up psychologically damaged and physically mutilated.

Justme56 · 11/05/2022 09:00

if you know nothing about the legislation (which I imagine many don’t) it reads that Labour want to ban trans inclusion in general life. You would think that someone in their marketing department may have seen this. I had to do a double take.

Did you?

Fair point.

Peregrina · 11/05/2022 09:10

I saw the banners and hadn't got a clue what they were on about.

bellinisurge · 11/05/2022 09:12

It'll come back to haunt them. Really really soon.

Mandodari · 11/05/2022 09:17

I thought it was a petition to ban the destruction of single sex spaces!

OldCrone · 11/05/2022 09:35

if you know nothing about the legislation (which I imagine many don’t) it reads that Labour want to ban trans inclusion in general life.

That's what I thought. Have they had a pile-on from TRAs yet for their transphobia?

Absolutely, I was quite agog.

Dianne used to be my MP. When she sent her kids to a private fee paying school I lost my emotional connection to the Labour Party. It's a purely transactional relationship now. I'm afraid this latest stunt does not surprise me. When you give up on fighting for the poor all that's left is the shiny , worthless bauble of identity politics.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 11/05/2022 10:04

Bloody hell! A sign is supposed to a one hit clear message. That one needs a whole paragraph to explain it. Without which it says the exact opposite of what it is intended to say.

I know they fuck around with the language, but that is a really new, very deep low they have hit!

Twonks Grin
