I listened to this in full today after a friend recommended it. It’s long but I’m glad I took the time. While in places it’s a difficult listen, I found listening to this man’s detransition story told in his own words has really brought home the damage that is being done by affirmation, bad actors grooming vulnerable people and internalised homophobia.

The interviewee also has a substack and Twitter account but I think I need to steel myself to read these properly another day.

Bravo TR. If you read this I wish you good health and happiness in your future.

Thank you. Saving it for later. I was just thinking that we rarely hear from male detransitioners.

No, it’s really interesting and he talks about how there’s support for detransitioning females in feminist and women’s groups but for males it’s so difficult and men need to have their own spaces to handle their own trauma.

He says that in his experience many males who detransition end up retransitioning or end their own lives especially those who have had SRS. He thinks that the ones that end their lives then are held up by TRAs as examples of victims of transphobia, and hence evidence of a transphobic society when in his view reality it’s that they can’t deal with the trauma of what’s been done to them via SRS.

On the topic of SRS he talks about the elevated status of those who have had SRS within trans groups online meaning that it’s both a draw to have it. They are then lied to by surgeons about the success rate of surgery and the impact on gender dysphoria. He says those that have poor outcomes are often ashamed and don’t talk about it.

It’s heartbreaking - how did we get here?

Thank you for link.

I appreciate hearing this from a male detransitioner and as a free speech absolutist, which is not a feminist position at all, I was glad that he got help from kiwifarms which is widely derided as "hatespeech" central. The kiwifarmers arent kind and many are deliberately cruel but the truth is not censored. Ultimately truth is the highest good.

We got here because so much of the media has shut down any discussion of this topic which doesn't consist of unquestioning affirmation of anyone who claims to be trans. There's hardly any discussion of whether that is really in the best interests of those often quite vulnerable young people who are sucked into believing that 'being trans' is the cause of their distress and physical transition the answer.

This shouldn't be a taboo subject when so many young people are being harmed.

Thank you for posting the link. I’ll listen later.

Interesting (but not surprising) to see ASD mentioned in the description. I came across this Staffordshire council autism checklist for girls yesterday and gender non-conformity is one of the things on the checklist.

Thanks for the link. I haven't listened to the end yet but I thought the link to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder was an interesting one. I haven't heard it as a theory before but it makes a lot of sense.

His honest description of how he experienced OCD in general was quite moving and helped me to understand the condition a lot better.

I find it very strange that we as a country are ending up like Iran, where homosexuality is illegal and sex changes are seen as the cure. It also allows the older gay men to "not be gay" by having affairs with these transitioners.

I've been watching a detransitioned transwoman on YouTube, he's very insightful, but angry that he feel for the ideology and believed he could change sex. He links his to mental health issues, such as his Borderline Personality Disorder. His video on causes of Gender Dysphoria is very good.

Am I allowed to link to Youtube on here? His name is Isaac.

Also on the Gender; a wider lens podcast they interview some detransitioners. It's an excellent podcast by 2 psychotherapists, I recommend it if you haven't come across it yet.

What NHS hospital did this to him? I would really like to know who is responsible. (I've only listened to the first 10 minutes so far and I'm a bit angry.)
