On Monday 23 May, MPs will debate a petition relating to legal recognition of non-binary gender identities.

From linked article upthread about being accepting of non binary.
"Some, but not all, non-binary people undergo medical procedures to make their bodies more congruent with their gender identity. While not all non-binary people need medical care to live a fulfilling life, it’s critical and even life-saving for many."

And we all know those non binary people are female.
Non binary is a way for straight people to join the LGB and TQxyz.
Non binary is a way for men to violate women's single sex spaces.
Non binary is about conforming to stereotypes as opposed to smashing them.

Petition debates are a fairly recent invention and token gesture politics... they are almost always very badly attended and go absolutely nowhere. I'm quite sure this one will be the same.

Yes, but it's going to wonderful for the tantrums.

Whose MP bothers to turn up or not? TANTRUM

Did your MP say the magic words or not? TANTRUM

Was your MP's performance reflective of The Training? TANTRUM

Warning: there article below gives a graphic description of sexual assault on a woman incapable of giving consent.

reduxx.info/gender-neutral-sex-offender-appeals-sentence-after-assault-of-woman/

Of course he does. The second lst paragraph shows the stupidity of this whole gender bullcrap.

Unbelievable. When is someone going to call time on this bullshit. I am willing to bet he wasn’t being either gender neutral or in female mode when he sexually assaulted that poor woman. Time for crimes of physical assault to be charged and dealt with according to the crime as it was committed, not according to someone’s get out of jail free fantasy. And changing your identity should not be used as a means to hide your criminal past.

If it's a petition debate there will likely be a small but dedicated turn-out. Perhaps a slightly bigger crowd than usual because it's an ever so trendy subject for daft MPs, but I don't think they'll be fighting for seats.

I wonder if Crispin 'Fucked Up Over Khan' Blunt MP will attempt to lead the charge as usual, despite having to resign from being Chair of the APPG on alphabet soup.

Caroline Nokes will be insufferable as per. And Maria Miller. Wera Hobhouse will gnash her teeth and maybe wee Mhairi will too. Nothing like a cross-party gnashing.

Presumably Kemi Badenoch will there to represent the Government.

Oh I do hope so. KB is brilliant on this issue.

Laurie Penny announced on Twitter yesterday that she identifies as non binary and as a woman.

Didn't LP also recently say that she/they's neither "trans" OR "cis". I thought the rule was if you aren't "trans" you are automatically "cis". Why does she/they get to opt out?

SpindleInTheWind · 01/05/2022 16:27

I honestly think we should write to all our MPs and encourage them to attend and participate so that

1 They all make tits of themselves, or actually show some mettle

2 They have no excuse further down the line to say that they didn't know all this fucking crap was happening

3 Their words are immortalised in Hansard

4 We get to watch the fall-out on Twitter

WTF does this mean? If you don't identify with any 'gender' then how the fuck does it matter what your body is like? The logic is just totally absent. Or do they mean 'null' surgery?

Excellent. Will be entertaining if nothing else.

SpindleInTheWind · 01/05/2022 16:50

Oh it's Mike Freer MP responding for the Government not Kemi. Oh well.

mrshoho · 01/05/2022 16:52

What is the etiquette when suggesting to our MPs that they attend the debate? Is it the done thing to point out our personal views?

fromorbit · 23/05/2022 10:10

Hey the nonbinary debate is today at 4.30 and there are people trying to get it trending on twitter so gender crits get to put out the reality about what nonbinary really means while the debate is on. Of course debating gender terms is exactly what we want and the opposition doesn't so this is a bit of an own goal.

I just watched it though I missed the beginning as my you tube flicked me over to the debate on hedgehogs!
Does anyone know all the names of the ones who spoke against the petition I would like to send them a thank you.
What the hell was Anneliese Dodds going on about people with difference if sexual development for? She also kept going on about respect.

I just can't see how non binary people lived experience is one of intolerance and discrimination. And what about all the other 100 plus genders does this open the door to those?

A lot of conflation of sex and gender by the Scottish MP and Dodds even though she said she was very clear.

Looking forward to the transcript. How long do they usually take this is the first debate I watched.

Also what was the outcome, the chair said the eyes have it but I didn't hear anyone vote?

MagnoliaTaint · 23/05/2022 19:25

We just discussed on this thread!

www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4555182-non-binary-debate-in-westminster

The outcome was - I think - to confirm that they've 'debated' the subject.

I would disagree, tbh.
