Transwoman claims Tampax have offered sponsorship

Dylan, currently on 'Day 47 of being a girl' claims Tampax have been in touch.

Why?

'Dylan was using a public restroom when a fellow woman called out if she had a tampon, Dylan shyly replying ‘no’.
Afterwards, she decided to buy some to keep in the house and in her purse for all her girlfriends, ending the video with “women support women.” It seemed that Tampax were quite interested in working with Dylan afterwards. What an incredible outcome!'

To be fair, I have been asked for a tampon a few times. Most recently in the loo at St Bart’s hospital Bryan employee. I only use pads, but the recipients have always been grateful for the pads. Maybe I’m just approachable. 🤷🏻‍♀️
That said not sure why tampax wants to fawn over people who don’t actually menstruate. Maybe they see a whole new market opening up, selling tampons to people who don’t need them.

I know it was obviously a stupid autocorrect (bane of my life), but your “Bryan employee” made me laugh!

Somanysocks · 30/04/2022 05:12

I have to say I would be hesitant about accepting a tampon from someone like Dylan in a public loo, I would be worried that it had been 'tampered' with in some way.

VerveClique · 30/04/2022 07:03

I’ve just come back to catch up on this thread.

This lot shits me too tears.

Just fuck off out of women’s spaces Dylan. And stop appropriating womanhood while you’re at it.

We need to stop being nice about this.

RogersOrganismicProcess · 30/04/2022 07:28

Have we established if tampax has actually offered him a contract? It’s just I need to pop to the shops to pick some up and the answer to that question would help inform my purchasing choices. I’m not spending hard earned money on brands which make items specific to women’s biology, yet centre men in that process.
Do we have a list of those companies which haven’t succumbed yet?

I am a teacher in a department where we're 75% women. One of my male colleagues keeps a box of pads in his desk drawer in case female students leak onto their chairs and don't have replacement pads with them (I'd say this happens in my classroom a couple of times a year). I only know about this box because I sit next to him in the staff room and one day didn't have a pad in my bag. I was moaning about my chronic lack of organisation to him and he told me he had one if I'd like and explained why.

He's an incredibly good bloke - one of the best. Funnily enough, what he doesn't do is brag about it on social media, or in fact ever mention it at all, apart from when absolutely necessary.

That is slightly different though.
He is in a position where a girl might need to ask him or he might realise that a girl needs it. Just like a girl would ask her dad if she needed too. He’s not some random bloke in the pub.

But as you say, he has that because he knows it’s the decent thing to do in his position and doesn’t carry on like he’s a bloody hero.

In my office two or three of us have sanpro in our desk drawers. All the women in the room know it’s ok to take one in emergency. It’s not part of a ‘process’ & if one of the blokes announced he had a helpful tampon stock that would just be weird.

Does make complete sense for the teacher upthread to have some though.

Sorry, absolutely. I was just illustrating how different it is when someone does it without the fanfare. Because then you can perhaps guess more about the different motivations of these two people (is my colleague and Dylan

Let me remember all those times I've heard women in toilets calling out for spare sanitary products.

... never ...

Ha yes! At school maybe, as a grown woman? Never!

OvaHere · 30/04/2022 08:29

it must be awful to feel you are in the wrong body but why try and wipe out the autonomy of the gender you say you want to be ?

Because for many men when they realise they can never have what it is they want and desire it becomes a target to destroy. This applies to many things beyond just transgenderism. History is littered with examples -Putin and Ukraine strikes me as a current one.

JacquelineCarlyle · 30/04/2022 09:11

Sadly I believe you're right @OvaHere

Sort of like "If I can't have you, no one can"

Absolutely @MarchXX

Exactly that.

TimBoothseyes · 30/04/2022 10:16

I'm just wondering, if Dylan has a purse full of tampax just in case someone needs one.....where does Dylan keep the red lipstick that all us wimmin are renowned for sharing in the public toilets???

Lynnthesearesexnotgenderpeople · 30/04/2022 10:29

I am still finding this quite upsetting. Not only Dylans offensive stereotypes about women that are apparently completely unironic, but the way women are cheering him on as well. Like, wake up, he is not interested in 'supporting women', he is using you as a prop to validate his own 'womanhood'. You are nothing more than support humans in the fantasy, you are there to do things like 'ask for a tampon' so that he feels more like a woman when he can provide one.

It was quite funny though - on his tampon video he said at the end 'women supporting women' and got a scolding because he had committed the cardinal sin of forgetting that men have periods too you know! 🤣

By the way, I know have misgendered Dylan in this post, I do try not to do that generally. But on this particular subject, this outrageous level of stereotyping of women is so offensive to me that I just can't collude in that, and I hope I wouldn't be expected to, particularly on a feminist forum.

BackAgain777 · 30/04/2022 10:32

"Sort of like "If I can't have you, no one can"

Yep.
They covet everything feminine to the extreme that they almost become caricatures of womanhood. Yet at the same time trying to dismantle and tread all over woman's rights.
They hate us 'cause they AIN'T us.

Pinklimey · 30/04/2022 11:28

I've asked someone for a pound coin before, may have offered a pound coin.

Handyweatherstation · 30/04/2022 11:36

The only time I've ever come across a man saying they carry sanpro is from a keen hill walker. He said one of the women in the group unexpectedly started her period while out on the hills and after that he'd carried supplies.

But I've never, ever, been asked for sanpro from strangers or asked for it myself. So many women have unpredictable cycles and just get used to having what they need on them at all times.

I feel like saying to them - you know he's just going to wank over this later on?

This. Unfortunately naivety is part of it, however that can only last so long before eyes are opened by experience and everyone becomes a whole lot more alert and cynical.

Another part of it is, again, where is the boundary on using non consenting others as props in a personal agenda, which may include a sexual experience?

ScreamingMeMe · 30/04/2022 12:40

I’ve heard of many a cis-gendered male carrying sanitary products in their cars or bags, just in case one of their friends gets caught out…they always get talked about like heroes for their understanding

Have ye, aye? Do they, aye? 🙄

I'm pretty sure Dylan is a troll or a parody. I'm very sure that Dylan is not female.

ScreamingMeMe · 30/04/2022 13:38

A woman reacts to Dylan's videos (Dylan was not happy with this at all):
