Hahaha bollocks!

I worked in a shop for larger women & because of that we got a lot of men buying clothes for themselves. They didn’t ask to use the changing rooms & we didn’t mind if they brought things back after trying them on. You see both dudes behaved like adults

No one is stopping this twit from buying a dress, they’re just asking him to try it on somewhere else like his home

GoodJanetBadJanet · 12/04/2022 18:37

Surely saying to someone who is trans that they have to go home and change is unlawful though.
They have every right to use the changing room just like everyone else.

GoodJanetBadJanet · 12/04/2022 18:38

That was in reply to No one is stopping this twit from buying a dress, just try it on somewhere else like home

Ohai there Janet. The CEO has clarified that the person wasn't refused, they were merely asked to wait, it is school hols and also Ramadam, the shop was busy. So you need not confect more outrage, stand down your pitchfork, HTH.
LK1972 · 12/04/2022 18:42

@GoodJanetBadJanet

Who do they think spends lots of money with them? I never understand this type of comment. Women are individuals. Do you really think you have to be trans or a man to disagree with them? Plenty of women think '' good on them'' too. Someone who is trans was discriminated against buying a dress. Surely it's good customer service to try and rectify that?
Well, girasol at 17.27 posted a CEO reply letter. Did you read it?

Because, as I understand that letter, when they see a male they ask the other customers, undoubtedly discreetly, if they would mind changing with them.

IF women mind they're asked to wait until the changing room is empty of existing customers. If other women then want to use the changing rooms, they're told there's a transgender on non-binary male using them, and they have a choice to go ahead OR wait.

That's actually possibly quite acceptable and doesn't contradict the EHRC guidance or human decency.

This person was not discriminated against, they were asked to wait and threw a wobbly. Well, how outrageous not have let him in to the female changing room, when other women don't want them there.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/04/2022 18:43

Charlie was rather uncomplimentary on that twitter thread when describing the Monsoon employee who asked him to wait

Not a female changing room, they don't have that right, being a male.
Pawtriarchal · 12/04/2022 18:45

Another clear sign of male privilege: not used to waiting their turn.

GoodJanetBadJanet · 12/04/2022 18:47

Not a female changing room, they don't have that right, being a male.

Like it or not, trans women are legally allowed to use them though.

stimpyyouidiot · 12/04/2022 18:48

@EdithStourton

So what happens if you're an actual woman and complain about a bloke in the changing rooms? Do your feelings not count then?

Whose fucking side are they on?
(Rhetorical question)

Yes, and do you get a free dress for your trouble???
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/04/2022 18:49

Upmost to serve them, a new prom dress

It's utmost. Another reason not to shop there Wink

Yeah, that eyebrow comment Hmm

On the other hand I tend to find that short large Afro-Caribbean women, from my experience , rarely pander to penis, especially if they are of a certain age.

No they are not, read new EHRC guidance.

Wow.
Where do you even start with that?!
Assumptions on age, race AND towards trans people, that takes some epic doing!

Wow.

So he wasn't even told he couldn't try it on. And then he was really fucking rude about the woman who was just asking him to be reasonable and wait. What a dick.

LK1972 · 12/04/2022 18:56

Although companies can choose to make separate provision, that is make it mixed sex. If that's Monsoon's choice I'll never shop there again, along with other GC women.

The current arrangement described in the CEO letter is acceptable to me, although may not be to others.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 12/04/2022 18:57

Sounds like the assistant handed the situation diplomatically but feckin Charlie was too dumb to realise it.
I hope he enjoys his free frock and 30 seconds of fame.

Charlie posted the race, I have not made an assumption.

Age, i didn't assume anything about this assistant, I've talked about MY experience.

I didn't mention trans people, I've mentioned penis-pandering, that's your own assumption.

God, it's like doing English comprehension with toddlers

Seriously? Just for going against the grain?!
Ok Hmm
Hardly.

Right. If you're told to wait, that's a clear example of upholding the recent EHRC guidelines. Respecting the women and girls changing in the space, and then providing the same changing room to the non binary person.

Each person gets to use the changing room, so each person gets the same, equal provision.

But oh noes! Equal provision is all well and good, but with no women or girls in the space there's no....validation!! 😫

No one to check out the stunning bravery! No one to look at and dare to challenge, or no women to ask their opinions, therefore no chance of being complimented! No attention! Girlie shopping trip vibe ruined

Luckily Twitter is there for all the attention seeking needs 🙄

MsTSwift · 12/04/2022 19:57

Nothing but utter capitulation immediately is ever enough is it 🙄. Is this the end result of that “never say no to your child” parenting?

Somanysocks · 12/04/2022 20:00

Aw deleted my post, how sensitive, can't say anything now.

@FoldedCard

..I had the Rosie Jones one come up.
It was a bit... melodramatic, to say the least

At least she got her very own hashtag #MadAngryCry
