Oh, I'm so bored.

Here they go... twitter.com/MonsoonUK/status/1513811068686155778?s=20&t=zQnlx9T5PprC0S2v-ECHxQ

Another one off the list. Who do they think spends lots of money with them?

It's on the Mail online now. More sunlight,

MsTSwift · 12/04/2022 17:05

I am a big shopper here not any more.

As an aside was shopping with my (very tall) 13 year old yesterday and a male shop assistant (not in monsoon another shop) quite aggressively chatted her up. Emphasising to me how important it is girls have a private place to change away from men.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/04/2022 17:08

Or is it just that they foolishly allow some junior to manage the social media accounts?

They all do. It's always a young woke person who doesn't care about the optics for the actual customer base.

KittenKong · 12/04/2022 17:08

Yuk. I hope you loudly asked him to leave your 13 year old child alone. Why male assistants - they don’t sell mens clothes do they?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/04/2022 17:09

If we look at Monsoon's market I imagine there is quite a crossover with Mumsnet. It's not a young teenager's shop.

KittenKong · 12/04/2022 17:10

Jeez - I’ve been doing press, media and advertising (as part of my job) for years and there’s no way in gods green earth I’d let anyone lose on this - reputations are pretty dangerous things to leave to the reckless and the unprofessional.
KittenKong · 12/04/2022 17:14

Did they really give him a free dress?

Snog · 12/04/2022 17:16

Does anyone know if there is a list of shops who don't recognise women?

It would be handy to be able to know where not to spend my cash!

girasol · 12/04/2022 17:27

Gosh, a reply already from Monsoon’s CEO to my email!! D’ya think he’s having to spend all afternoon copying and pasting?!

Monsoon
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/04/2022 17:35

Upmost?

AlisonDonut · 12/04/2022 17:38

Upmost to serve them, a new prom dress.

So if 2 women left because a male was in the changing rooms, would they get a new dress? Or would they be told to educate themselves?

So Charlie wasn't turned away from the changing rooms, just asked to wait?
Awkwardy · 12/04/2022 17:43

Waiting is literal violence. Queues-es is Bruises.

FlibbertyGiblets · 12/04/2022 17:47

That is quite a decent reply . Reading between the lines the complainant was asked to wait not refused. So the complainant could said to be being disingenuous. Hmmmm.

Ofc we still have the thorny issue of Monsoon allowing mixed sex changing.

WinterTrees · 12/04/2022 18:05

Do we know for a fact that a free dress was given?

FlibbertyGiblets · 12/04/2022 18:08

No. It was proffered by the monsoon Twitter person. No idea if a dress was given or accepted.

How did they know this person was a trans woman? What would they do of a trans man wanted to try on a dress?
FoldedCard · 12/04/2022 18:10

@IvyTwines

I clicked on the tweet and this is what Twitter showed me immediately after the Monsoon reply. I don't 'follow' either of these people, but I guess Twitter felt the need to shove their opinions about JKR and co in my face.
I had the Rosie Jones one come up. It was a bit... melodramatic, to say the least Hmm
gogohm · 12/04/2022 18:11

If that branch is like ours there's literally 4 cubicles all floor to ceiling. Absolutely no reason why a man can't use them (they used to sell menswear anyway. It's the Birmingham branch being discriminatory in this case. Very different to an open changing area at a gym etc. many shops have unisex changing including asda, sainsburys etc and no issues at all

KittenKong · 12/04/2022 18:14

If it says it’s womens changing area… then it’s for…?

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 12/04/2022 18:16

My local monsoon didn’t have floor to ceiling cubicles & even if they did, that’s not the bloody point. I will often come out of cubicles half in or out of stuff for help with zips or fastenings. Monsoon is a woman’s shop, there is no need fir any bloke to be in the changing rooms

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 12/04/2022 18:17

I don’t care if he is wearing a dress

So Charlie lied about being turned away, and was actually only asked to wait, possibly (reading between the lines) due to cultural sensitivities of the other customers.
GoodJanetBadJanet · 12/04/2022 18:28

Who do they think spends lots of money with them?
I never understand this type of comment.
Women are individuals.
Do you really think you have to be trans or a man to disagree with them?
Plenty of women think '' good on them'' too.
Someone who is trans was discriminated against buying a dress.
Surely it's good customer service to try and rectify that?

KittenKong · 12/04/2022 18:31

This person was asked to wait. This person should have been shown the door - since it was a single sex facility surely?

Plenty of women think ‘boo flipping hoo’
