Had a conversation a few weeks ago around feminism and womens rights and my friend, an A level Biology teacher, said categorically that trans men WERE women.

I was so shocked and upset I didn't feel like arguing, but what can I say as we'll almost certainly have the conversation again. We both have daughters and we were talking about the Girl Guiding trans leader.

Transmen are women. They are biological females who have adopted traditionally male clothing, names etc.

Transwomen are biological men who have adopted the opposite.

Trans men are biologically female but identify as men.

Trans women are biologically male but identify as women.

Maybe just a misunderstanding?

"Trans men" is the name the gender identity proponents give to females, so yes, your friend is right. This is why plain English is essential!

Transmen are biological females who identify as men. Transwomen are biological males who identify as women.

Are you sure your friend was talking about transmen?

Has she said transmen are women or transwomen are women? Because only one of those statements are true.....

Have you asked what her definition of a woman is?

How does she know that trans women are women as if they're women, they wouldn't be trans women, as only males can be trans women.

Or does she think that you too can be a trans woman, as obviously you don't have to be male, as male ceases to exist once the trans identifying male states he's a woman.

Questions I'd like to have answered if I were you. But in reality I'd be reducing any such talk to a minimum, in the same way I would about the globe if I had a flat-earther friend.

It's so very disappointing when intelligent women come out with rubbish. But you won't change her mind so there's no point in going there. I can only wish that if she's ever in need of intimate care that it's her who gets the trans-identified male, and not someone like you.

I think the classes at my sons secondary are crap so I wouldn't put much stock in their knowledge , they were told how babies were made without explaining erections/ejaculations, menstruation etc, they only spoke of the womb and ovaries not the rest of the female sex organs they have told him fuck all about body organs such as where the kidneys are, the appendix etc, or the ovaries for that matter they just talk no models, no pictures so how any of them are meant to know where any of it is without clear images or models I dont know.

I have been thinking about buying him a small anatomical model so he can learn all the things they should be teaching him, I think its very important to know where everything is, how else will you explain where problems are to a doctor if you need to.

It is when it starts to impinge on other people's rights.

My best friend is the same. Although a forensic scientist not a teacher. Not sure how she's going to know if a skeleton is a man or a woman if a woman is anyone who says their a woman.
What i find particularly sad about it is that she's the person who introduced me to feminism :(

I’m not surprised, schools are obsessed with this. To be honest, they are trying to support their students which is a good thing, but I do not think they see/think beyond this. I certainly do not think they have thought about the long term effects of the TRA misogyny. Has she read 1984? Does she know 2+2+5?

She's a biologist - ask her who has the babies and how does that happen. Ask her which individuals suffer FGM and why. Ask her what is the correlation between the two.
