I have an American friend who told me over the weekend how the abortion bills in the states are just like the ones being used to 'ban' trans people from sport. And how it is just 2 or 3 kids who want to play so why is there so many issues about it.

The Democrats in the states have dangled the threat to abortion rights over the heads of female voters for decades as a ploy to keep them voting Dem, even though the Clinton and Obama legislations had 16 years between them to enshrine the right to abortion in federal law. Meanwhile, the Republicans have played the long game of stuffing the Supreme Court with their picks by persuading incumbents to retire rather than carry on until death, in order to ensure Republican candidates took the seats at times when their passage through the Senate could be guaranteed. By doing this, they can stack the court in favour of Roe v Wade can being overturned, and potentially block any proposal to enshrine RvW as federal law as unconstitutional.

The thing is though, women concerned about womens rights haven't 'zoned in' on sports, we've been discussing many aspects for many years. It's commentators at large, average blokes etc who can simply see it very clearly in sports- they can see what a 'trans woman' is, see how it's unfair for them to be competing with women, see that contrary to what whining apologists pretend it's reall not complicated at all.

And since the Dems are likely looking at losing the House in the mid terms, there's no way they can now enshrine abortion rights at Federal level. It's a fucking mess, but one made by both sides using women's rights as disposable cannon fodder.

Martina Navratilova was championing LGB rights since before this creep was born, when it was REALLY unpopular to be doing so, and having furthered these rights more than he could ever hope or dream of doing.

The progressive politician is a woman. The two I have seen work on changing the meaning of 'women and girls' are both female. One clearly doesn't understand the issues at all. Not sure about the one who tweeted about 'menstruators', to be inclusive.
