Do people really believe this about transition?

Is this part of the issue - besides the misogyny? That people really do believe you can partially or completely become the opposite sex?

“Trans women can go through female puberty and develop biologically female bone structure. Trans women can biologically develop female muscle mass.” Or is this just Tom Harwood being, well, himself?

OP posts:

He's no biologist, is he.

tabbycatstripy · 06/04/2022 18:32

Combination of not knowing enough and not caring enough.

mudgetastic · 06/04/2022 18:33

People believe god created the world about 4000 years ago
People believe the world is flat
People believe that climate is changing naturally
So yes people may believe you can change sex somehow

nepeta · 06/04/2022 18:33

Harwood has also advocated the wolf whistle test to trans women, stating that if they get whistled at by heterosexual men, then they are clearly women. It's an oddly sexualised definition of what a woman is, though not an uncommon one when this issue is discussed.

I cannot say what I think of this man on here.

But yes it does appear that is what they think.

Quite wonderful. Thank you.

If they took puberty blockers from a very young age, then they might be more petite.

But no. They will never have a feminine bone structure

HereAgainFFS · 06/04/2022 18:47

Is Tom hardwood some troll? He has the intellect of a potato

tabbycatstripy · 06/04/2022 18:48

But then the medical guidelines for puberty blockers suggest it shouldn’t even be considered until puberty is underway (according to the expert GMC endocrinologist in the Michael Webberley tribunal). The drugs are meant to pause puberty for a short time (maybe 13-16), not prevent it happening. So even the young males who have had the least exposure to their body’s natural hormones will still have had some virilisation.

Not to mention, the use of those drugs as an alternative to proper therapy is (in my view) a form of medical malpractice and on its way to the dustbin of history.

As long as they and anyone like Tom Harwood carefully preserve their ignorance of anything that is evidence-based and avoid conversations with Sharron Davies, Emma Hilton, Linda Blade, Colin Wright, Ross Tucker, Cathy Dixon…
MarshmallowSwede · 06/04/2022 18:51

Mentally I’ll people believe it yes.

Trans women are men. Period. Biological men and nothing about them is female.

Soubriquet · 06/04/2022 18:53

@tabbycatstripy

Yes

I don’t agree with puberty blockers but I’ve seen parents online trying to get them for younger and younger children. Truly barbaric

bellinisurge · 06/04/2022 18:56

They need to keep this shit coming. Loud as they can. Doing the job for us.

PronounssheRa · 06/04/2022 18:57

I wonder how much that private education cost, because I would want a refund.

Georgeskitchen · 06/04/2022 19:02

The best way to solve the argument is that when in a couple of hundred years, archaeologists digging up 21st century graves will examine the bones and will know the difference between a male and a female skeleton

Summerhillsquare · 06/04/2022 19:05

To many people, the idea of changing sex literally is more understandable, more palatable, than the idea that males may wish to adopt stereotypes associated with women. Because to many, women are still inferior, disgusting, to be despised.

CHROMOSOMES

Oops sorry, did I shout?

LizzieSiddal · 06/04/2022 19:07

Misogyny at its finest.

PrelateChuckles · 06/04/2022 19:09

Sometimes I am forced to ask myself multiple times a day, "are they lying, or thick?"

Sometimes, though, I don't need to ask.

I wish I could find the video but I recall seeing one by a GC Trans Woman who made this point exactly. Even TWs agree.
Circumferences · 06/04/2022 19:14

Yeah sadly some people do think like Hardwood.

The very same people that decided male sportspeople should be able to compete with women if they drop their testosterone levels to 10 n/mol per litre (about 5x higher than female average 🙄) then decided- lo and behold TW athletes shouldn't have ANY hormone treatment in order to compete with women!

These TW have changed sex by virtue of declaration alone. Scientific fact, that.

Justanotherobserver · 06/04/2022 19:19

la scapigliata -

As a doctor I can categorically say these claims are scientifically illiterate, ideological nonsense. Males and females differ on a genetic level, these drive sex differentiation from conception and no amount of hormonal imbalances can reverse male/female sex differences.

Always did like la scapigliata!

Actually I think the opposite happens - castrato were noticeable due to their unusual height.
