Welcome.

If you're new to Mumsnet and/or the 'gender' debate, and have questions, fire away.

Plenty of knowledgable women here happy to help you out. Smile

We can provide links, evidence and explainers for many of the issues, and point you to further actions and ways to help.

Thank you for all the links and all the support.
I raised my GC head above the parapet on Facebook earlier and now I'm hiding away, shaken by the hateful responses.
How JKR, Birdie, and all the many other brave and outspoken women deal with this daily I really do not know. Kudos and love to them all.
MN has been an eye-opener and a huge source of info, my thanks.

I'm sorry, Veronica. Flowers. Thank you for standing up for women.

On Facebook, there are some helpful groups if you search for 'gender critical' feminists, or rad fem groups, or for some of the organisations listed above.

I always find these helpful for the inevitable 'there's no such thing as women's safe spaces' nonsense -

Are any posts pinned on the FWR areas? This one could be, along with other really useful ones. Sorry if they already are- I tend not to notice such things.

Endocrine Society statement:

'Sex is an important biological variable that must be considered in the design and analysis of human and animal research. The terms sex and gender should not be used interchangeably. Sex is dichotomous, with sex determination in the fertilized zygote stemming from unequal expression of sex chromosomal genes. By contrast, gender includes perception of the individual as male, female, or other, both by the individual and by society; both humans and animals have sex, but only humans have gender. '

GRA reforms specific to Scotland

Reform to the GRA - background
murrayblackburnmackenzie.org/gender-recognition-act-reform/

The results of the 1st consultation (from 201), I am unable to find.

The analysis of the 2nd consultation are below-

www.gov.scot/publications/gender-recognition-reform-scotland-bill-analysis-responses-public-consultation-exercise/

Slightly astoundingly, we appear to now be on the 3rd consultation process -
www.heraldscotland.com/politics/20007955.gender-recognition-reform-scotland-bill-consultation-opens/

However, Nicola Sturgeon has claimed that the SNP were voted in on the basis that there would be GRA reform -
www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/politics/nicola-sturgeon-wrong-say-snp-25929807

And our First Minister is on record as believing that women's concerns 'aren't valid'.
www.heraldscotland.com/politics/19955525.nicola-sturgeon-facing-revolt-gender-bill-rebels-seek-free-vote/

Meanwhile, the UK Government have dropped reform -

It's fabulous, but that was more than 3 years ago, and so much has happened since then. I'm kind of hoping there's an updated version in the book she's writing.

Athletic teenage High School boys and female olympians -
boysvswomen.com/#/

You will see again and again - 'None of the women's finals performances met the qualifying time to enter the boys' competition'.

And for some of the swimming events - 'The top women's time set a new women's world record; however, 3 boys, ages 18, 16, & 16 were able to top it.'

Waitwhat23 · 05/04/2022 08:50

Infographic about the differences between male and female bodies.

To be clear, the last few posts about differences in women and men in sporting events is to counter the argument (often seen espoused by MRA's on this board) that there are no differences between men and women and that women 'just aren't trying hard enough'. It's also to evidence the need for safety in women's sport.
