Welcome.

If you're new to Mumsnet and/or the 'gender' debate, and have questions, fire away.

Plenty of knowledgable women here happy to help you out. Smile

We can provide links, evidence and explainers for many of the issues, and point you to further actions and ways to help.

Forum rules mean we're not allowed to link to crowdfunders, but the following are all people taking on the issues at great personal cost and are worth a google:

Allison Bailey is taking on Stonewall

Rachel Rosario Sanchez is taking her uni to court

Katie Alcock 're the Girl Guides

Rachel Meade, social worker

James Esses

I'm sure I may have forgotten some ...

Hope you don't mind a suggestion for another crowdfunder,

Fair Cop.
They do great work regarding batshit woke policing, there's a link to their crowd funder on their website

I’ve just been over to For Women Scotland lots of good info. Bought myself some lovely badges while I was there.
Huge gratitude to all the women on mumsnet and beyond for their dedication and masses of information. This is all so important.

Welcome all!
Great links on this thread.

A new women's political activist group, Women Unite aimed at forcing political parties to acknowledge the rights of women: (Respect my SeX if you want my X ):

And a useful crib sheet from them to keep by the door for canvassers from all political parties:

Thank you for all the information.
I originally joined mumsnet for pregnancy chat and had no idea about the breadth of support, experience and community I’d find. Really important stuff here.

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 04/04/2022 12:01

This is a great thread and thank you for compiling this and links to essential information.

Thank goodness for Mumsnet that it is a beacon of light in these times of madness.

When I stopped believing in Santa Claus around the age of 5, I did not realise that there are a lot of people who didn't do the same ...

Aretina · 04/04/2022 12:25

Very interesting links in here, thank you. I've been worried about this issue for some time, but IRL so many people seem to accept it, or at least keep their thoughts to themselves. It's so good to find people speaking up.

Has "Standing for Women" been mentioned?

www.standingforwomen.com/

Posie Parker (Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull) is often described as "controversial".

She has done incredible work including the infamous
"Woman = Adult Human Female" billboards that all got taken down.

Thank you for this. I've been on MN a while but I'm just starting to educate myself more on these issues. Really helpful starting point.

HotCrossMocha · 04/04/2022 14:28

Is there a good brief summary anywhere about what JKR has actually said compared to what they think she said? And how to argue back against some of the ways people have to mislead new people into thinking that she said something transphobic? And the good things she has said since - and why some news outlets still call that controversial?

(obviously a link to her actual essay might be good too, though I know a lot of people will not read that)

malloo · 04/04/2022 14:41

Link to JK Rowling's excellent essay so you can see for yourself what she actually said www.jkrowling.com/opinions/j-k-rowling-writes-about-her-reasons-for-speaking-out-on-sex-and-gender-issues/

A good film to watch is The call is coming from inside the house. It looks at the high number of girls saying they are boys and having surgeries and testosterone. About 40 mins.

Not everyone's cup of tea but GB News have some good videos and on a Sunday night the comedian Andrew Doyle hosts Free Speech Nation which often has some really good women's rights stuff on related to the word woman, men in women's spaces etc.
Woman's Place UK have lots of videos on their you tube channel. They share all the speeches from their conferences.

Thank you for this thread. I'm shamelessly placemarking for the links.

Safe schools alliance and transgender trend both have excellent stats when you need facts to back up your point.

girasol · 04/04/2022 18:05

Thank you for posting all this, it’s very helpful to have in one place.
