Starmer: biology matters

tabbycatstripy · 31/03/2022 20:03

“Biology matters, and for the vast majority of women that’s what matters. Nobody is quarrelling with that. But there’s no denying there are also a small number of people who struggle with their gender identity, and they go through a difficult time...”

Went on to say that three times. Almost exactly what Rachel Reeves said: “the vast majority of women” - in other words, there are women who are not female.

Robotic performance aside, it’s at least better.

Whoever is drafting his Lines To Take needs to go back to the drawing board. And the journalists need to grow up and challenge this nonsense.
Wes Streeting did a better job at the words. Doubt he meant it but at least he did a better job.
How long can Starmer keep this up and not suffer the consequences?

As for this "it's just a minority issue". Not for over 50% of the population it fucking isn't.

bellinisurge · 31/03/2022 21:54

"And no one "has to" undergo any medical procedure they do not want."
So keep dicks out of places where biological women are vulnerable. Because how do we know that the owner of the dick is safe to be around

teawamutu · 31/03/2022 21:54

Nope. Men and women, cis and trans alike, can all dress however they want. There's no "rigid dress code".

Of course. Didn't say they couldn't.

Men should wear dresses if they like them. I'm almost always in trousers. My son loves wearing pink.

It's not GC people saying a boy hating trucks and loving fairies is actually a girl, or a girl who wants short hair and football boots is a boy and both need drugs and surgery to change their appearance to better match the stereotypes.

It's the genderists.

@BoreOfWhabylon

Oo look, a sea lion! (sea lions are not lions, btw)
Bunbury would be pleased with your timely reminder Grin

Like this.

A trans woman wearing pants and playing with trucks is still a woman.

Trans identity is in no way based on sterotypes, you just have to keep telling yourself it is to justify your own persistent gender enforcement.

"Man" and "woman" are social identities, and you are imposing them on the basis of (your simplistic idea of) sex.

You are imposing masculine and feminine names, pronouns, labels, and frankly, dress codes. You claim not to, but you have a "actually men crossdressing in public is bad too" thread almost every week.

Letterasaurus · 31/03/2022 22:00

It beggars belief that given that 'what is it woman' is the question de nos jours for politicians, despite their legions of spads and speechwriters they have failed to craft a plausible and articulate response. It's all 'er' and 'hmm' and nonsense about rabbit holes and contexts - they're all astonishingly poor communicators quite apart from their absurd beliefs!

I didn’t realise we’d be having the sixth form debating society in tonight.

bellinisurge · 31/03/2022 22:03

Gender and sex are not the same thing @Cayeli2

Most of the time, my sex doesn't matter. I present in quite a masculine way etc etc. But sometimes it really fucking does. Especially if I am in a vulnerable situation

Letterasaurus · 31/03/2022 22:05

Ah, dear Germaine!

A very suitable day to reflect on her enduring wisdom.

tabbycatstripy · 31/03/2022 22:05

Gently, in what way?

Also, the fact you resort to deleting accounts whenever anyone calls you out on your lies and disingenuous transphobia shows how much you yourselves favor the #NoDebate approach.
Nope. MNHQ suspend accounts for a variety of reasons. Including being a Previously Banned Poster back under a name change.
Crcohetmonster · 31/03/2022 22:05

I did like the fact 1 day after the whole “ no one can define woman”, a Labour MP vowed to uplift women and girls. If they can’t define woman, who do they know who to uplift? Do they just go round lifting random people up?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 31/03/2022 22:06

OMG - I've just watched that. Starmer can only repeat three lines and one of them is:
"Biology matters"..... Except the Labour party have been denying that and insisting nobody must talk about women's cervixes for years now.
Presumably Lammy's been locked in a basement somewhere with a GCSE textbook and told to repeat "men cannot grow a cervix... men cannot grow a cervix..." until he gets it right.

What an embarrassment they all are.

OhLordyWhatNow · 31/03/2022 22:07

@TotalRhubarb

I didn’t realise we’d be having the sixth form debating society in tonight.

Do they have 6th form in the US? I'm not clear on their school/ college structures.

Pants and trucks? Do they mean knickers and lorries, or trousers and and 4x4's?

PearPickingPorky · 31/03/2022 22:09

Man" and "woman" are social identities

What are the qualifying criteria for each?

Hoardasurass · 31/03/2022 22:11

Why is it always threads like this that certain posters post on and never the threads about the weberleys tribunal or the poor woman who was gaslight for a year by her NHS trust.
Anyway until Labour completely reverse their current stance and ditch the entire alphabet soup with a wholehearted Mia culpa they won't get my vote, this sort of waffle is a very poor attempt at lip service for women almost a kind of pat on the head saying I hear you no be good little woman and be quiet and vote for your own erasure

bellinisurge · 31/03/2022 22:13

The thing these clowns are forgetting is that a lot of the women leading the way on this are at an age when the menopause impacts on your life. Just when you have got yourself as sorted as you are going to be , a biological pain in the area comes and fucks with your life. No biological man will ever experience menopause. So these little darlings and their handmaidens are wasting their time with the "biology is a social construct " bollocks. Because we are living proof that it really fucking isn't.
If I could identify out of the menopause, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Idiots.

bellinisurge · 31/03/2022 22:14

arse not area but you knew

"Man" and "Woman" are biological categories. These are the words to describe the two biological sexes.

Biological sex matters - especially to (biological) women who are vulnerable to aggressive or predatory men.

Why are you not concerned about (biological) women being put in danger?

Cayeli3 · 31/03/2022 22:21

@tabbycatstripy

‘A trans woman wearing pants and playing with trucks is still a woman.’

Gently, in what way?

Because that's her identity. Identity is not in any way dictated by stereotypes, nor by physical characteristics. No one is being put on a pathway to medical transition because they "want short hair and football boots", medical transition is the means to address physical dysphoria. Nothing to do with stereotypes.
Cayeli3 · 31/03/2022 22:22

Anyway, keep spouting your disingenuous bullshit, clearly I won't be able to stick around for long to confront you about it, so I guess you can feel free to lie to your heart's content lol.
