A male Tory MP has released a statement on Twitter that they are transgender, and also that a couple of years ago they were raped.
It's a brave statement.

@happydappy2

drwhatever I have plenty to contribute

You can’t stop me speaking. It might have happened, it might not, we don’t know. only 2 people know for sure. I have a funny feeling a lot more will come to light very soon though.

Why do people who talk nonsense always come back and start prattling about their right to their opinion and they're allowed to speak, as if anyone denied that?

If the only thing you've got in favour of your valuable opinion is that it's not illegal to hold it, you're kind of done. And now you're no longer even "laying out facts" for us; you're moving into stuff that hasn't happened yet.

He's a sleazy figure but that doesn't mean he can't ever not consent to sex. Why am I not surprised that you're now shifting towards the "victims must be perfect" stuff?

Signalbox · 30/03/2022 22:21

@CarbonelCat

Has he got a wife and kids?! Poor them
I don't think so. People are just making stuff up now.
Turningpurple · 30/03/2022 22:22

@lifeturnsonadime

Oh for goodness sake, arguing amongst ourselves as to whether his rape claim is valid is ridiculous. If he didn't consent to sex without a condom and that is what happened it is rape. That's abhorrent.

The argument about what his declaration of being trans means is completely separate.

It does nothing to for that argument to claim that he wasn't raped because it doesn't meet your criteria for it.

100% agree.
sacredfeminina · 30/03/2022 22:24

I read it at the bottom of the times article

AlisonDonut · 30/03/2022 22:25

@GCAcademic

He sought out this enounter though right? So...

He sought out an encounter involving protected sex, not sex without a condom. So the sex wasn’t consensual. In law, there is a term for unconsensual sex.

Yes...i didn't say there wasn't.

So the tens/hundreds of girls could well have been in the same boat and yet nobody is concerned with them. Yes? No?

sacredfeminina · 30/03/2022 22:27

I am not making shit up, he has a wife and kids.

He'll be even more unfit for his job but no one will be able to say a word because it will be deemed trabsphobic.
Trans seems like a veil to don, to literally get away with whatever the hell you want.

The in-blameability cloak

lifeturnsonadime · 30/03/2022 22:30

Well that's a leap.

Saying that non consensual sex is non consensual sex does not mean that.

a) no one is concerned about women/ girls who may have been affected by his sugar daddy venture and.

b) people think that his declaration of being trans is a get out clause or makes any sense.

Shit apologies for saying that! Flowers

sacredfeminina · 30/03/2022 22:37

No worries! Sad my post got deleted. Again its like you can partake in a hot and run, but utter the wrong selection of letters and words and you get shut down. I do understand MNHQ it just feels debilitating not being able to call stuff out x

sacredfeminina · 30/03/2022 22:38

Maybe i can reword... It may be possible that this a way to groom the public into being accepting of a forthcoming public display of one's fantasies.

Turningpurple · 30/03/2022 22:40

Its seems wether he has a wife and kids is inconclusive. Several websites says he doesn't.

But he said he does? But made no reference to them at all?

I suspect that if he hadn't said 'trans' and this was a story of a married MP, 'hooking up' with men behind his wife's back, it would be a very very different reaction.

And what happens if in 5 years he is still a he and still presenting the same. But taken the spot of the 'first trans MP' and all the admiration of how brave it is to come our first? Surely thats going to piss off any other future trans MPs.

He calls trans, to excuse breaking the law. He still benefits from male privilege. Still presenting as the sex observed at birth. Not facing alot of the problems trans people do.....but still having the title of the first and the trail blazer. That's got to piss trans people off.

Turningpurple · 30/03/2022 22:42

But he said he does? But made no reference to them at all?

Sorry, I mean in the statement today, he made no reference to them.

Q&A from a 2016 election. Maybe he has divorced since then Confused

Turningpurple · 30/03/2022 22:45

Maybe he has divorced since then

Maybe. But would have expected something in the statement about his kids and/or him being a father.

Maybe he is queering teh word "trans"?

It’s only a matter of time before someone does, and the logical consequence of this whole movement.

I’ve always thought that a whole bunch of adult human females self-identifying as trans women could bring the juggernaut to a crashing halt.

An elected female in London council (???) did that if circlegendered (??) Circungender (??); a woman who feels like a man, who feels like a woman qualifies.

lifeturnsonadime · 30/03/2022 22:46

I totally agree turning purple.

HIs actions does the cause of trans people absolutely no favours.

He just seems to have used it as a trump card. That might be because of his own internallised homophobia or it might be because it's a cool bandwagon to jump on or just a distraction.

I'd like to think it's because he wants to expose it for what it is (wishful thinking !)

I would imagine Izzard is less than impressed.

sacredfeminina · 30/03/2022 22:48

He probably doesnt want it known, because it doesnt add up really does it. How can you have wife and kids and then meet other men for sex?

Anyway in some ways men like this do great favours. If he was a lovely, perfect man with a clean slate and a philanthopic record he would be a great advertisment for trans inclusion. Of course trans inclusion is not a problem in most circumstances, however he might be used as an example of how transwomen pose no threats, etc, etc.

This man however has a pretty dodgy past, im sure there is much more dodgy stuff beneath the surface, no way everything is out in the open. Plus left a wife and kids and possibly cheating on them before...

Its a great show of sleaze really. Kind of shining the light on our concerns.

PonyPatter44 · 30/03/2022 22:54

I couldn't give a shiny shit about his wife and kids. He's a sleazy fucking pimp, he should NEVER have been an MP, and anyone who voted for a sleazy pimp who has mystery car accidents is as stupid as he is. Nasty, nasty little man.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 30/03/2022 23:15

I don't understand why you would flee the scene after crashing your car. He said he was terrified. Of what? Why did he crash his car?

FacebookPhotos · 30/03/2022 23:19

I’m again shocked at rape apologists on the feminism board. For avoidance of doubt, I think the following:

  • when any person says they were raped, I believe them. I’m not a juror, and I know the stats regarding malicious accusation of rape, so I believe the people who tell me they’ve been raped. That might mean I’m taken in by a vanishingly small percentage of people who lie about it, but I’d rather take that risk than wrongly disbelieve someone telling the truth. Especially when there is no named assailant (and so no individual is actually harmed by me believing the victim).
  • conditional consent is an actual thing. If a person refuses sex for any reason and the man doesn’t accept the refusal, then he’s a rapist and the person a rape victim. It doesn’t matter why the person refuses (lack of condom, discovery of too much chest hair, whatever), it was still rape.
  • you don’t have to physically fight someone off to prove you were raped. Many people go into a “freeze” mode under extreme stress, where they don’t fight back and don’t run away.
  • being alone with a man is not consent. It doesn’t matter if you are male, female, gay, straight, married to the man or if he’s a stranger. Being alone with a man, even naked in a bed at 1am, is not consent.
  • I don’t think that saying “but you didn’t believe her when she said she was assaulted” is a justification for not believing someone else. I don’t care whether any person (TRA, Wallis, a random on the street) didn’t believe JKR. I believe rape and domestic violence victims.

I would have thought feminists would agree with these things. I accept that it is very hard indeed when the person telling the public about their rape or mental health problems does so alongside a litany of worrying behaviour. But I think it is important to separate them. It is perfectly possible to believe all of the following:

  • Wallis suffers from gender dysphoria
  • Wallis was raped
  • Wallis showed himself to be an unfit person to be an MP when he owned/ran a sugar daddy website
  • Wallis fled the scene of a car crash
  • people who flee the scene of a car crash should face stiffer penalties

A lesser charge if there is no proof of impaired driving. No police no investigation, no blood tests.
