Looking at period pants - and the first review is this.

Clearly getting a sexual thrill - and M&S have given it a platform. I reported, but still live - so I guess M&S are happily going along with this.

I think it will change how I feel about M&S, for those of us who are a certain age, a KitKat is always a little unpleasant when you remember Nestle's exploring baby milk for profit in unsafe areas.

I had a couple of reviews turned down, years ago, when my girls were tiny. 'Pink Stinks'. M&S were very keen on labelling children's clothes Girls and Boys and using very narrow, almost retro gender assumptions. Eg dinosaurs for boys, pink cupcakes for girls. I was just looking for kids clothes a bit more rainbow, a bit more inclusive not pink or mud coloured.
My declined reviews were 'pink Stinks' perhaps if I'd echoed the style of 'Daphne' the cross dresser, I'd have been published.
I am a Cross dressing man and wanted to try this as I normally wear trousers. This was great. I have now had this for 2 weeks and these are so nice to wear. Full skirt (as I like), comfy and a pretty design. They also shape my small male anatomy to a feminine look plus allow room to breathe if I have an accident. Pretty look too and my wife and partner likes me in these. I have the pink skirt which does show below my waist when I bend over. Which is ok for me but other men may be less confident. Ladies. Great look, feel and will save on pretty skirts, unlike sanitary products, no vat on kids clothes. Win win.

@MumThatsNotFair

These are the men we don't want in our toilets and changing rooms. These are the men that will go in.
This .

Exactly @SirVixofVixHall what M&S don't seem to realise is that I am the gate keeper to where we spend money for different generations.

Babies, kids, teens, Xmas shopping for relatives, I strongly suspect that women signpost most of our family's shopping.
Easy enough to suggest DD goes to John Lewis for a fitting, the brilliant lady there pointed out what to look for, what to avoid if you went to Primark. We bought three in JL and her experience finally persuaded my very shy other daughter to go in.
Brand values.

I got deleted too - I'm not sure why. I think I must have used the phrase 'actual women' at some point. However, the reviewer clearly identified himself as a 'cross-dressing man'. If I can't use language to distinguish between women and men who identify as men (albeit cross-dressing ones) without being deleted, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to express myself.

It's a very strange game to play.

@greasyshoes

He's imposing his fetish on others by posting that review.

Not any more than seeing a gay relationship on TV, or seeing a gay pride parade in public, is gay people imposing their sexuality onto me, which they aren't.

Seeing something is seeing something. Having something imposed onto you is something else altogether.

Gay people dont get off on living their lives in public? Its not like 2 gay men doing a supermarket shop is the same
VeeringTowardsMuff1ns · 25/03/2022 21:35

So many reviews of M&S underwear seem to be written by men. I don’t want pants with “plenty of room and support” for the male cross dresser. They won’t bloody well fit me very well then if they’re cut to suit a man’s body shape FFS!

I need to buy some new pants - but I won’t be buying from M&S again. I’ll probably go to the small independent shop as I can at least be confident their changing room is safe (and she knows how to do a proper bra fitting!).

Can’t bear it when men call them panties either 🤢

MiladyBerserko · 25/03/2022 21:58

It's quite depressing but that's where we are.

M&S clearly don't understand the impact of their policies.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 25/03/2022 22:03

@MiladyBerserko I think they do, but they don't care.

WellNotReally · 25/03/2022 22:52

I've just had my response:

Thank you for your email addressed to Steve Rowe. As a member of the Executive team I will be responding on Steve's behalf.

I am sorry to read that you find one of the reviews on our website inappropriate. Your concerns have been noted and shared with the right people in our business.

Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts with us.

I've sent a long reply. Holding out no hope whatsoever.

17:1300. They are clinging to this like a limpet aren’t they? It’s not going anywhere.

Maybe that’s the market they are aiming for since they have alienated women.

ChickenStripper · 26/03/2022 09:49

Am I going blind this morning and not seeing Women listed on here or have I just been thinking it was there and never was? 🤨

Bravissimo. Who also allow men into their changing rooms.
At least this bloke isn’t going into as much detail, although why he thinks that women would find his review helpful I do not know.

Fucksake. My aunt shops there and regularly spends a not-inconsiderable amount of money. I’ll forward this to her; I know she’ll be horrified and will withdraw her custom.
KittenKong · 26/03/2022 12:06

I passed a walk in facial salon (where they do dema peels and suchlike) with a huge pink and blue signs ‘we welcome trans (NHS funded)’ and the tri-gender sign. And

I thought - if it said ‘we welcome women ’ there would be protests and a brick through their window. And I didn’t feel welcome seeing the pink n blue anyway.

This is where we are.

'Panties' is the American term, the equivalent of 'knickers'.

Yes - I wonder if they get that it's not about finding "one of the reviews" inappropriate. It's about the context of pervy men writing reviews for other perky men (and themselves) to wank over, and the deliberate transgression of women's boundaries. And as a previous poster says, on a product often used by young teens.

Yes, and I've spent hundreds on hair removal - seems unfair that men can get it for free, when they're the ones that could more easily "get away" with hairy legs/face (i.e. not get abused for them like I used to)
greasyshoes · 26/03/2022 13:22

Incorrect. I purchase razors with 20% VAT to remove hair, like everyone else.

Incorrect. In some jobs, it's a requirement for men to be clean-shaven.

Yep, have addressed both of those points in my response. And said that I don't believe the person who responded to me really thinks that it's ok to leave that, and other similar reviews, up. Because they won't, they're just toeing an outrageous corporate line really.

I do think it would be helpful if as many posters as possible could tweet newspapers/journalists about this. M & S have no defence and they deserve shaming.

Yeah, and? Both this and the M&S website are British and I find it very grating when men call them panties (and I know I’m not the only person who thinks this). The trans/crossdresser reviews on M&S (which are numerous) very often use this word and I find it really off putting, along with descriptions of them having good support. Henceforth I will be buying my PANTS elsewhere.
HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 26/03/2022 13:51

Greasy was very recently on a Transwomen in sport thread arguing that there is no scientific evidence that male bodied people have any physical advantages over female bodied people and that it's likely that any benefits are not physical just sociological because girls are bought up to think they'll be worse at sports.

Not convinced its worth entering into a discussion with Greasy as they have so far shown no willingness to engage in sense or logical reasoning.

Tortabella · 26/03/2022 14:28

More than 1300 thumbs down now.

That "I'm sorry to read you that you find one of the reviews on your website inappropriate" is so grating. It's the "I'm sorry you found it offensive" breed of patronising non-apology.

Yes Marks and Spencer, I'm sorry you're lacking the business sense to delete a review that 1300 people have so far indicated they find offensive, presumably many of them (myself included) customers.

I bought maybe 5 or 6 pieces of clothing from M&S last year - not a lot, but I'd do that every year, and now I won't. I personally find that person's comment disturbing, not just "inappropriate." And I won't give my money to a business that can't respect me enough to filter out such reviews.

Agree, no more interacting with him from me.
