Looking at period pants - and the first review is this.

Clearly getting a sexual thrill - and M&S have given it a platform. I reported, but still live - so I guess M&S are happily going along with this.

@greasyshoes

Because, funnily enough women don't want to buy pants from a shop that allows cross-dressing men to have accidents in them. There was a man either reviewing, or on Twitter, who took the pants off the rail, went into the changing room, ejaculated on them, and then put them back.
  1. M&S doesn't allow you to do that.
  2. That could happen in any shop, and could be done with any consumer item. That's why CCTV is important.

So you've graduated now, greasy, from defending men in women's sports, to defending pervs wearing their pants.

Do note that there's another thread about gay rights vs transgender rights. The main argument being put forward is that gay rights doesn't affect anyone else, whereas transgender rights affect women.

With people getting offended by a man wearing his own underwear, in the privacy of his own life, that argument has now completely collapsed.

It's the review, greasy, the review.

I know you have no idea about this, but women looking for period pants don't want to read a pervert's story about how he gets off on them.

Datun · 24/03/2022 10:46

It's amazing how people supporting the ideology can end up defending rapists, sex offenders in spas, and perverts. And yet still think that they might be on the right side of history.

Has anyone tweeted the press about this? I've sent an email to Steve Rowe and reported the review, but surely a paper like The Mail would be all over this.

Livpool · 24/03/2022 11:43

Ugh 😩

chilling19 · 24/03/2022 11:46

Tried to report but it didn't go through

I'm sure once the DM journos read it on here they will pick it up Grin

Hopefully Janice Turner will read this. The Times demographic must have many overlaps with that of M&S.

@fieldmarshallzhukovscoat

I changed the gender and a couple of other words, and posted against a 3 pack of men's undies - it got through! This establishment has been truly captured.

Time for me to shop elsewhere me thinks.

Love your review - have liked !!!

I have down voted but can't seem to report

@fieldmarshallzhukovscoat 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

DobbyTheHouseElk · 24/03/2022 17:45

I’ve had a really crap but to be expected reply to my email. I’ll copy and paste if you want.

Basically it says M&S are fine with the review. They want people to feel able to speak out and tell the world who they are.

Which is fine and dandy, but that’s not what’s happening here. I attached a screen shot of the review for them.

Oooh excellent idea, I think M&S could have a headache if lots of MNers temporarily identified as men who have recently bought underwear and felt the need to share their 'experience' with the world via the M&S website...I'm sure it would be really helpful to many men.
inheritancetrack · 24/03/2022 17:52

Oh FFS. M&S get your head out of the sand

Tortabella · 24/03/2022 17:56

Disgusting. Have reported, telling them there may be young girls on that site trying to buy underwear and why should they be made a party to some man's kink. It's got a lot of downvotes now.

Nnique · 24/03/2022 17:59

Yes. Marks and Spencer would rather fetishists and other sexually motivated penis persons of potentially perverted persuasions feel very very comfortable telling us all who they are, than ensure that girls and women don’t have to see that sort of shit. That is where their priorities lie.

Looks like I’ll be boycotting for quite a lot longer then.

KittenKong · 24/03/2022 18:02

13 for: 1032 against.

I think that says it all. OK sisters, everybody out…

Eddielizzard · 24/03/2022 18:11

1033 down 13 up

You have to wonder at the mindset of a major retailer of women and children's underwear that believes allowing grubby reviews like this to stand is so important.

It's a real doubling down - making sure that women and girls feel uneasy / anxious about their products. It would have been so easy to quietly remove it - according to posters numerous reviews get removed. But when women are looking for period products, they get confronted with male cross dressers making dodgy comments in reviews and M & S side with the creeps - presumably they see them as stunning and brave. Confused .

Amazing how offensive they can be towards women and girls.

pombear · 24/03/2022 18:14

I'm not sure if my report submission went through as there seemed to be a long-spinning wheel on it!

So on the small off chance that any M & S social media person is scanning this thread, here's my submission:-

By retaining this review on your website you are championing someone wanting to display their fetish for wearing women's underwear. Please inform yourself of the social media trends linked to sexual fetishes of 'accidents' in underwear and adult nappies, of men 'accidentally revealing their 'ladies underwear' in public.
You are being hoodwinked under the guise of being inclusive to hosting a sexual fetishist's review.

Unless that's what you'd like to host?
Challenge your thinking: look through any of your other reviews of women's underwear by women, and see if any of those use the language of 'panties', 'ladies', 'showing my underwear when I bend over' . Can you see any difference?
Do you have a user feedback panel? Have you asked women whether seeing this type of review would encourage them to purchase the product or discourage them:

And for anyone looking at this thread and thinking it's a minor issue and why are people focusing on it?

For me, it represents the growing normalisation of the public sexual fetishisation of women, of stereotypical women's clothing and of being in women's spaces for a sexual kick.

Either you don't care, or you're pro 'don't kink shame, whatever the kink', or you haven''t had sight of this group of men gradually escalating from 'it's only a pair of knickers' to 'it's only a women's toilet I'm masturbating in'.

Tortabella · 24/03/2022 18:20

Excellent post pombear

I did sometimes buy clothes online from M&S but won't if this review stands. I have had to deal with enough creepy behaviour from various men in my lifetime, since childhood, I'm not going to give money to a company who exposes me to it when I'm trying to buy underwear.

Their inability to understand how this behaviour affects women is so depressingly telling.

Hasselhoffsheadband · 24/03/2022 18:24

Ew, what does he mean by 'if I have an accident'? Does he mean wet himself or spaff in his pants?

Why would a grown man be doing either of those things? Eeeeek!
