Congratulations to Emma Weyant (20), who, earlier this evening, was the fastest woman in the 500 yard freestyle at the NCAA Swimming and Diving championships.

She has won the silver medal, in deference to Lia Thomas's authentic self.

Congratulations Emma. The real winner.

BettyFilous · 18/03/2022 00:18

Brava Emma! Fastest female in the women’s event. 👏👏👏

nocoolnamesleft · 18/03/2022 00:19

Emma Weyant: the real champion.

miri1985 · 18/03/2022 00:46

Emma Weyant is the US national champion at the 400m individual medley and won silver in the Olympics last summer, that is the class of athlete we are taking about.

Magdalena543 · 18/03/2022 00:49

Congratulations Emma. Fastest female 👏

miri1985 · 18/03/2022 01:14

4th place (3rd) was Brooke Forde whos Dad works at Sports Illustrated the publication that did the glowing profile of Thomas, heres what she had to say about Lia Thomas back in January, wonder what she will think now shes lost a medal

Congratulations to Emma 🥇 Now Thomas has beaten an Olympic medallist, I hope it opens many more eyes to the unfairness of the situation. It's a hollow victory for Thomas - surely Thomas must realise that winning by cheating is no victory at all.

RVN123 · 18/03/2022 06:53

Did anyone see Kellie Jay (Posie PArker) on YouTube? She's in the USA just now, attended one of Mr Thomas's swim meets.
She was quite vocal in the crowd about them being a "cheat" etc. A reporter argued with her, but essentially ended up admitting that Thomas is a man after accidentally using the CORRECT pronoun for him!
It's all absolutely unbelievable.
Well done to EMMA, the REAL winner of the FEMALE race!
And to the 4th person who missed out on a medal entirely because of flagrant cheating.

NeedToKnow101 · 18/03/2022 06:58

Well done Emma!! 🙌🏼 🥇

I finally listened to that mother's statement yesterday, it was incredibly moving.

Will have to seek out that Kellie video.

I am a loss as to what has happened in the US. Maya's trial has really brought it home to me how institutionalised this has become in "progressive" America.

LizzieSiddal · 18/03/2022 07:51

Well done Emma! You are the winner.

I heard reports that the crowds only cheered when Emma finished and booed Thomas. Does any one of this is true? It would be fabulous if it was.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 18/03/2022 07:58

Well done Emma!

LizzieSiddal · 18/03/2022 07:58

LaChanticleer · 18/03/2022 08:04

And congratulations from me on dealing with what must have been the intense psychological pressure of that race.

Congratulations for holding your nerve and making sure the cheat had to work for it.

PermanentTemporary · 18/03/2022 08:11

Well, Brooke Forde said that inclusion mattered more than any medal or award. I wonder if she feels excluded at 4th place.

OvaHere · 18/03/2022 08:35

I din't hear any boos in the video I saw but there was silence until Emma reached the finish, then they erupted into cheers.

Congrats to the fastest female and first place winner, Emma.

Congratulations for holding your nerve and making sure the cheat had to work for it.

Sadly he didn't have to work for it though. The video footage shows he was barely kicking his legs and coasted to first place pretty much on upper body strength alone.

If he'd actually tried to break a sweat he could have won by a lot more but he's trying to create the illusion of something resembling a fair race.

It's not working because everyone can clearly see the low effort he's putting in to still comfortably win.

FlibbertyGiblets · 18/03/2022 08:43

Well done Emma!

teawamutu · 18/03/2022 09:16

Congratulations Emma. May the record books reflect the truth one day.

AngeloMysterioso · 18/03/2022 09:35

@OvaHere got a link to the video?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 18/03/2022 09:38

I think This picture sums up feelings of the women competing - the women are the 2nd & 3rd place celebrating with the one who came 4th

Congratulations to Emma Weyant
PenguindreamsofDraco · 18/03/2022 09:39

That photo suggests that Brooke F may be rethinking her views on inclusion in real time.
Lia Thomas is a cheat.

WinterTrees · 18/03/2022 09:50

I came here to see if that photo had been posted!

It's such deplorable injustice, but seeing those women together lifted my heart a little and gave me hope that the pushback might be beginning.

This is the one I watched, just look at the girl's feet compared to LT.
