They're at it again. You'd think the last couple of weeks would have highlighted the value of being able to say your reporting was balanced and free from political bias, but there you go.

“Legalistically”? Confused

It’s her money, made from the toil of her own hands (or rather mind]. If she wants to roll around in it laughing and smoking fat cigars, she can have at it as far as I’m concerned. She is the only person in the Uk to have charitably-donated themselves off the rich list. If we’re lining them up against the wall for having too much money, she’s not where I would start.

DomesticatedZombie · 13/03/2022 16:43

Quite, Sophocles. She is under fuck all obligation to do anything anyone suggests/asks/demands with her money. She can do exactly as she pleases.

DomesticatedZombie · 13/03/2022 16:45

Owen now claims that interviewing someone does not equal endorsement, which is quite right.

Yes, he's correct. So is Owen claiming he disagrees with this chap, then? Or is it just certain parts of the arguments of a man who advocates for child abuse that he chooses to support?

VestofAbsurdity · 13/03/2022 16:48

Owen now claims that interviewing someone does not equal endorsement, which is quite right.

Ah but, according to ElaineFuchs supporting or sympathising with someone on Twitter absolutely means you are promoting them and their views.

As ever the one rule for one, another rule for the rest.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/03/2022 16:54

It's a blue flare-like thing outdoors well away from any person. A smoke-bomb is different.

Ah yes more like the ones TRAs set off next to Grenfell tower, which people thought were smoke bombs, to go with the giant inflatable dildoes they were carrying?

https://labourwomensdeclaration.org.uk/press-release-womens-rights-rally-targeted/

A women’s rights rally, held at a venue adjacent to the Grenfell Tower Memorial Wall, has been disrupted by masked protestors who let off flares.
Attendees thought that smoke bombs had been thrown and said a strong smell of smoke distressed people – particularly given the location of the venue. Placards reading ‘Fuck Terfs’, a man with a flashing dummy penis, chanting, and photographing women attending the event were also among protestors’ other tactics.

Apologies DomesticatedZombie I missed your post. Oh well the more the merrier.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/03/2022 17:01

Jk can show sympathy for Caroline feeling sad about sending her daughter off to university

How disingenuous. She was being sympathetic to her experiences of abuse by TRAs.

Hasselhoffsheadband · 13/03/2022 17:03

Vaush refers to women as sluts, dumb cunts, bitches etc, all the usual misogynistic incel slurs and apparently for Owen Jones, this makes him a perfect left-wing guest for analysis of social issues as 'these are the conversations the left need to be having'.....

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/03/2022 17:05

Because of course it does.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/03/2022 17:07

If you haven't already, watch his nasty as fuck video about Selina Soule, the teenage girl campaigning for female only sport. I wonder if LOJ shares these views.

Hasselhoffsheadband · 13/03/2022 17:11

Caroline Farrow and her family have been relentlessly targeted by men in the last couple of years? Why? For her homophobia? For her anti-abortion stance? No. Those things have come in handy when the shit is really being flung around, but they aren't reeeaaalllly important enough to get that upset about.

No, despite being anti-abortion and homophobic, what has really riled the men up and made her a target for harassment and threats of violence is......that she doesn't believe that men can become women.

I don't agree with Caroline Farrow on most things, but that doesn't mean I can't feel sympathy towards her about what she has been subjected to. Stuff that, was she a man she would never have been subjected to.

I see Joanna Cherry is firmly back in David Paisley's firing line today, after committing tbe heinous crime of....liking a tweet.

As an aside, didn't all the charges against Marion Millar get dropped?

Yes. I think it was never actually revealed what the charges were.

It's not clear that the tweet Paisley has shared was part of the court case at all.

The 1M match to charity is definitely good (although heaven knows she has enough money to just donate 2M straight away!)

JKR who dropped off the list of billionaires because she absolutely plows her money into charities?

JKR who funds all the admin costs for her charities so that all donations are spent on the aims of the charity?

JKR who is a massive funder to MS charities and I believe a major donor to the MS research centre at ERI?

There's more than a whiff of misogyny about the criticism of women giving massive amounts to charity. MacKenzie Bezos (I believe she's now changed her name but I'll use Bezos for clarity in this post) was branded a golddigger in her divorce. She's since donated extensively, millions and millions of dollars, and her ex-husband is spending his untold fortune on... vanity space projects.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/03/2022 18:02

She literally says she is feeling tearful because her daughter is going to med school

.She says she regrets having her life invaded by TRAs.

She's quite clearly sympathising with the awful abuse CF has received from TRAs. JKR is also v clued up on everything from what I've seen and I suspect she's probably familiar with some of the details of this abuse. Nice try though.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/03/2022 18:04

Thank you. I didn't know that Farrow had been subjected to online abuse; I had never heard of her.

Not just online. IRL too.

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 13/03/2022 18:04

I’m not surprised JKR blocked the man at the bus stop. He must have spent the entire last few days on social media posting anti JKR rhetoric.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/03/2022 18:04

Yes, who needs that shit.

Who knows what JKR was thinking when she replied to that tweet? not you or me that's for sure.

Either way I'm not really interested in why a woman who works for an organisation and personally campaigns against lesbian marriage/parents is feeling triste.

MargaritaPie · 13/03/2022 18:17

@ashainspace

Rowling seems to be implying that she's on the side of gay people and listens to them, but only if they share her viewpoint it seems

When Paisley's sold as many books as her then maybe she'll listen to his opinion.

Until then he needs to shut up.

The general consensus from this board seems to be that silencing people is wrong.

So saying x needs to shut up unless they have sold as many books as JK Rowling seems a bit odd.

MargaritaPie · 13/03/2022 18:20

@VestofAbsurdity

Kathleen Stock does indeed have freedom to have her say, but so does everyone else.

In that case those placing the banner outside DP's workplace were just having their say, as it is a studio owned and run by BBC Scotland the banner could just as easily have been aimed at them.

It was posted and shared with a hashtag something like #EspeciallyforyouDavidPaisley I believe.

He's only been back for a day. Feels like a lot longer doesn't it Grin
Hasselhoffsheadband · 13/03/2022 18:24

But yeah, spends his entire online life slagging off a woman, and then gets pissy when said woman blocks him!
