Are people still following her now she's migrated to Odyssey? Her numbers are way down but you'd think everyone knew where to find her by now. Is there something about the Odyssey platform that is off-putting that I should know about. eg has it got unsavoury content or is it sound and just small and alternative? Or do people subscribe to channels that they aren't really interested in? Just wondered.

I'm with @PatsArrow - on no level was she trying to say any of us needed to 'be nice to men'? This is exactly the bad faith arguments that the GC movement has descended to. It's incredibly destructive and disappointing.
And i agree @WarriorN this is all about egos.

WarriorN · 07/03/2022 16:32

I think we need everyone to fight this

This is why I say that some parts of this are around feminism and a feminists are critical of gender stereotypes, hence GC as trans has its roots in rigid stereotypes for males and females.

The rest is reasonable discussion within a wide range of realms and contexts. Schools, medicine, therapy, science, law and how safeguarding adds to all these. Men are in all these professions too.

Solidarityovercharity · 07/03/2022 16:49

I think the key issue is that people should behave well, no matter what context. And so the lies and bad faith arguments and bullying campaigns by KD and Ex should not be acceptable

@Cailleach1

What a strange response. I don't know what to make of it.

For a start, if you don't have the time to watch these videos, I'm sure you wouldn't expect me or anyone else to provide annotated notes on them. Why not go and watch them, or just not comment?

But more importantly, you're in a whole thread of people almost unanimously agreeing about what's happening and how damaging it is... are we all wrong? Have we all watched the same videos and reached the same wrong conclusion? Doesn't that seem like a coincidence?

This is concern trolling. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/concern_troll You're asking questions as though they're earnest: but actually you're stirring. It makes me think you're personally involved. Either one of the people criticised or one of their friends.

"She also believes in "male brains" and "female brains". Again, where have we heard that before?"

I really would appreciate you showing where you take things from. I suspect that if she was talking about a male brain it was a brain that resides in a male, because all male bodies have male brains just like they have male hands and feet and male skin.

I have read a lot of threads on here, and watched a lot of her videos and read a lot of comments under vids. But there's loads I've missed.

From where I am sat Exulansic is blunt and to the point to the point of (sometimes) unnecessary rudeness. She also makes mistakes sometimes. I find this a more attractive position than people who try to be "too nice" and end up failing to make their points, and a much more attractive position than people who disingenuously take things out of context which I believe you are doing (but may be proved wrong by you showing me the context).[/quote]
The "male brains" statement by SW in a screenshot attached to the post where I mentioned it and which you quoted.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4494001-Exulansic-has-reduced-following?msgid=115509277

Attached again for your convenience.

It also contains one of the many instances where she has referred to herself, misleadingly, as a "licensed pathologist".

Some time ago SW did a really useful video where she ran through her CV: education, experience, qualifications, etc.

At no point did she mention qualifying as a "pathologist" or being licensed to work as a "pathologist".

She is, however, a qualified Speech & Language Pathologist and, I assume, remains licensed to practice as such.

No SLP in their right mind, or acting in good faith, would purport to be a "licensed pathologist".

This is on a par with someone justifying their commentary on psychotherapeutic theory and practice by claiming to be a "therapist", when they are not a Psychotherapist but a "Nail Therapist".

But I'm not the one who is making the allegation that KD is lying.. You can't think it strange people might not automatically take it as gospel when you categorically maintain someone is lying without the receipts? You need to understand other people don't all feel the need to operate in tribes. Your opinions are only your opinions. I don't give any special weight to them. As are mine. Others are free to think they are boll*cks, or not.

Who is 'we'? I'm sure there are many different opinions on the videos. What makes you think your one is the correct one? It may be, or parts of it may be.

You are now trying to 'proclaim' someone who is not automatically agreeing with you you must be stirring. Maybe you are saying that in good faith or not. Irrespective, give your head a wobble.

Cailleach1 · 07/03/2022 20:10

I'm now really wondering why 'people' become so shirty when anyone queries the status of Genspect. And, try to immediately attack and smear anyone who doesn't regard them as the one holy apostolic (and infallible) church. Is that what is setting people off? The grand 'we.

It is not a trick question; organisations the world over face public scrutiny. And should!

Cailleach1 · 07/03/2022 22:31

@Cailleach1

is not the kind of person to lie down and take a beating.

I don't think anyone should be required to 'take a beating'. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And, entitled to voice their opinion. It can be refuted if wrong.

I can't remember exactly (and will try to come back with the exact quote), but didn't CG deflect some discussion or other to make some personal remark about KD being so obsessed with paedophilia when KD was talking about safeguarding. Seems to me that all involved are well able, and inclined, to play down and dirty. No angels and no devils.

Back with the exact quote from a response from CG on Gettr, deflecting queries on safeguarding by KD and to show I didn't pluck it out of my a*se :-

You seem really reluctant to answer my questions. What are you hiding Karen? Why are you obsessed with grown men raping teenage girls? Why is this the only thing you think about?

Just thought I'd use the words from the horse's mouth. As I said, all well able to be down and play dirty. I'd hold off on the beatification.

I think I understand why.

It's an org for parents of gender confused children and it is desperately needed. I have no doubt that it's a lifeline for thousands of parents who, everywhere else they turn, are exhorted to affirm their child's belief.

I would also fight like hell to protect my sole source of support if I was in such a desperate, harrowing situation with my child.

But exactly because it's such an important resource, and because it is set up to serve parents, and by extension, children, it needs to be safe and part of that is being transparent so everyone can see that it's safe, including potential predators.

I want genspect to succeed and grow but they need to stop behaving reactively to trolls and instead focus on developing a robust safeguarding culture.

They need to be able to engage constructively with genuine concerns and also know when something is bs and should be ignored.

This whole tribal, ego-driven clusterfuck is incredibly bad for safeguarding.

Why are we discussing genspect on a thread about exulansic?

BraveBananaBadge · 07/03/2022 23:59

This has all blown up so quickly it seems a bit mad to me.

I've been off YouTube for a couple of weeks and now I find that instead of clicking on the odd GC vid that has been suggested to me and getting the bigger picture of the issues, I don't know wtf is going on - and the names I do recognise are embroiled in weird personal spats. I can't even quite tell if new accounts being suggested to me are feminist or TRA parodies or what they want my attention for or why (looks at Tufty)

Just making me think life's too short to waste time on there.

PatsArrow · 08/03/2022 05:51

BraveBananaBadge I feel the same. I've been dipping into totally insane related documentaries instead. It's nice to have a little break.

By the way, Tuffy is a troll channel who likes to stir up shit. I highly suspect it's by a man (I won't name him) who has a particular vendetta against Graham Linehan in the main but is branching out into many others.

PatsArrow · 08/03/2022 05:52

Insane related?? That's totally not what I wrote. I meant to say 'unrelated'

(But some of them are a bit insane)

BraveBananaBadge · 08/03/2022 09:17

Thanks Pat, yes I thought that was likely the case but wasn't of the mind to start clicking and getting more of the same. Who has the time to do something like that with their life?

YouTube comments have been a cesspit since day one, but this expansion into communities and so on has really changed its landscape and I can't keep up with all the content.

At first I was horrified at Exulansic's ban, considering it a free speech issue, but that's probably why I've been on there less. Things seem to have gone downhill quite quickly in that time!

Not sure if I sound like a normal human or completely ancient with this post Grin

PatsArrow · 08/03/2022 12:27

No you sound normal to me! Brave.

I feel exactly the same. I'm just staying away while they all circle the drain.

Everything seems to have taken a very weird turn.

ScreamingMeMe · 08/03/2022 12:43

@PatsArrow

Solidaritynotcharity I used to consider myself GC. Like you, I have the beliefs lots of GC people have. However (also like you) I'm horrified by some of the things I hear 'GC' people say.

I think I'm becoming more moderate. I believe in keeping and increasing all Womens rights and safe spaces, protecting our children from harmful ideas and unnecessary medicines and surgeries that can ruin their lives. I'd like to repeal the GDS. However I sometimes get uncomfortable at the hounding of any grown trans person who says they are AGP for no real reason other than them 'being that'. Also the harrassment of any adult woman who has transitioned and says they are happy. Maybe they are? Maybe they won't be in time? I don't feel it's my place to berate them.

I also have many male friends who are GC and have been involved in activism. However I've known a male friend turn up to Kellie-Jays Speakers corner event, not even attempt to speak just with his female friends, and been told he's not welcome (not by KJ herself). Solid Male allies repeatedly told they are not welcome in this movement. I don't mean just well known ones. I know plenty of normal men who have been very put off publicly supporting the GC cause for fear of a Twitter pile-on.

I know Women and girls are disproportionately affected by all this....but I mainly see this this as a fight for reality, truth and facts. I believe men are allowed to be concerned about that too.

I know not all people do this. I've just seen enough people do it to make me feel uneasy.

So I'm not sure what I am. I'd say GC if asked I guess. But I'm not wedded to it.

Well that's very strange, as Mr Menno has attended and spoken at at least one of KJK's Speakers Corner events. KJK also seems quite close to Harry Miller?
ScreamingMeMe · 08/03/2022 12:44

I'm just staying away while they all circle the drain

Sensible.

potniatheron · 08/03/2022 13:18

I think the videos Ex did in the early days, where she focussed on the sheer body horror and madness of phalloplasties, were really good and brought to light the way in which vulnerable young women are being suckered into countless surgeries that are no good for them. I thought that was really important work.

I liked some of her Jazz videos as she did a good job of highlighting the abusive family environment, however she went too far down the rabbit hole making all kinds of serious speculations about Jazz's body, health and Harvard admission that were just cruel and unnecessary.

I think she's gone off the deep end with the DSD stuff. People with DSDs have repeatedly said they don't want to be dragged into the trans shitshow and they shouldn't be. It's a completely different thing.

I think Exulansic is a bit intellectually arrogant. I remember one Q&A she did with her fans where she was saying how lonely and difficult it can be to be as smart as she is. OK she's smart but come on. I think she hangs her whole self esteem on her intellectual perspicuity and so cannot handle it when she deems that to have been attacked in any way. And sadly it has forced her to go down this rabbit hole and I really hope she comes out of it soon, because she has done good work, we are all complex people and we all make mistakes. The more she doubles down the worse it gets.

BraveBananaBadge · 08/03/2022 13:29

I feel similar about it, pot.

I thought she was onto something with the 'church of trans' analogies, which were very insightful. But it looks as if recently she's also guilty of encouraging cult-like behaviour. Seems a bit ironic.

Have you come across Clive Simpson on YT? I think he is a genuine ally and his content always includes a good dose of humour.
PatsArrow · 08/03/2022 14:48

Woo yes I'm loving Clive Simpson. He has that old-school acerbic wit.

Lineaxxxxcc · 08/03/2022 14:52

I agree it's completely mad. Will KD ever stop questioning Genspect (not that I think she shouldnt) and will Genspect ever answer her questions? This could go on forever.it reminds me if a film I once saw set in the 50s. A teenage girl refused to eat her dinner, a kipper. Her father gave it to her the next day for dinner, and again she wouldn't eat it. This went on until it started becoming rancid. In the end the cat found it in the pantry and ate it. The cat probably died I'm not sure.

BraveBananaBadge · 08/03/2022 16:16

Haven't heard of Clive Simpson before, will give him a go, thanks!
