Lisa Keogh being assisted by Joanna Cherry

Does everyone remember the case of Lisa Keogh, studying law at Abertay, Dundee? She was accused of breaching the university's disciplinary guidelines and put under immense pressure coming up to her exams for stating basic "inappropriate comments" in her course. The university eventually decided to take no action. She is now raising an action against them for the stress caused. Implications for freedom of speech at university. Now good news, the great Joanna Cherry is assisting with the case!
And in related news, it's a good time of year for doing some digging.

Good news.

Thank you for bringing this to my (hopefully 'our') attention. I remember. Good luck to her.

2 brave women joining forces. Is there a gardening page, do you know?
Rightsraptor · 07/02/2022 21:29
I remember her. Glinner and Co held a graduation for her on 'The Mess We're In' because she couldn't go to her real one.
Abitofalark · 07/02/2022 23:28
Yes, I remember. A dreadful case. She did complete her degree in the end though, didn't she? But should never have been subjected to the ordeal that she had to endure.

Her case is featured in the Daily Mail this morning, so hopefully more people will seek our her gardening page.

Lisa's next hearing is on the 22nd of Aug if you can add some vegetables to her allotment that would be great.
Rightsraptor · 02/08/2022 21:42
I hadn't heard of 'Fundher', the crowdfunder organisation Lisa is using. They look interesting and I'm sure we'll be hearing more of them.
Abertay is in Scotland I think, and I'm wondering what, if any, difference this makes to Lisa's case. Still totally worthwhile of course, but from a legal perspective will it differ much from a case heard in E&W?
JanieAllen · 02/08/2022 21:51
now that would be a legal question but I think employment law as relatively recent is the same across the UK ? paging any legal eagles ....
JanieAllen · 02/08/2022 21:52
yes she had to get a funding platform made for her as he crowdfunder was pulled like Alison Bailey I think
Rightsraptor · 02/08/2022 22:02
Well that new funding platform is by women for women, so they'll have a hell of a job getting funding pulled from there.😁

Thanks for this reminder.
Is there likely to be live tweeting anyone know?
Igmum · 03/08/2022 21:21
Thanks for the reminder OP. I did a little bit of gardening on her site. Fingers crossed the plants flourish.
TheBestBitch · 03/08/2022 22:26
I like the look of the funding site she’s using too.
TheBestBitch · 03/08/2022 22:27
Btw, why does everyone talk about gardening? Is fundraising a dirty word? Thanks!
Redshoeblueshoe · 03/08/2022 22:50
Best Bitch yes fundraising is a dirty word on here
sweetgrapes · 04/08/2022 07:31
Oooh yes. You get deleted for saying things like that out loud.
Carrots is the approved currency.
SpottyBumPony · 04/08/2022 10:04
I was pruning my garden and saw somebody had found 8000 carrots for Lisa this morning! Their allotment must be very successful!

Thank you, I don't understand though, why can't we mention crowdfunding?
I get no links, that's understandable but mentioning money?
Weird!
I've donated anyway!
Chrysanthemum5 · 04/08/2022 11:22
Done a little gardening, and I consider my donation a fair payment for the pleasure of seeing Joanna Cherry in action. Good luck to Lisa - IANAL but reading her case it seems pretty strong, especially in light of other recent judgements
Chrysanthemum5 · 04/08/2022 11:23
@TheBestBitch we can't mention fundraising as our unofficial moderators (people with an interest in this topic) complain if we do - and Mumsnet can't be spending all their time dealing with that. So, we all just talk about gardening
JanieAllen · 04/08/2022 11:48
please dont mention the unmentionable or this thread will be pulled in its entirely please don't enable other knobheads

Ok sorry I won't. How odd though.
