So. He was "perfectly nice", it "was not workplace bullying", but simply "differences of opinion on trans issues". So where is the need, what is the justification for this retrospective chucking of toys out of the pram? Didn't we get rid of "No Debate"?

I find it difficult to read those whiny comments Annie is making. Annie is demanding people don't express an opinion that differs from Annie's. I wonder if Joe will get a visit from the police to check his thinking.

Yes. And I think she's gotten used to being able to play the 'Untouchable Transwoman' card whenever she wanted a bit of attention. Free publicity and a lovely soapbox for indulging a sense of entitled rightness. Don't think she's noticed that the mood of the room has started to shift and she can't just word vomit whatever comes into her self-obsessed noggin quite as consequence-freely as she has been accustomed to..

Did it never occur to Annie that no one was forcing them to follow him on Twitter? And all he was doing was retweeting Maya etc, not ranting on about Annie or any other trans people. What a horrible bully Annie is.

Annie needs some of that sweet sweet attention that "victimhood" brings. The narcissistic supply must have dried up elsewhere.

Wallace may have ended up shooting herself in her size 12s here; as we've noticed the tone of the press coverage is nowhere near as uncritical as it used to be and a lot of the people who watch Hollyoaks and follow related media stories will be getting much less sycophantic press coverage than used to be the norm. Little chinks of sunlight..

Dear MN, my toddler tantrum demands their own way, is rude and bullies others when they don't get their own way, not good at keeping friends and the worst thing...he loves lying.
The advice would be to set clear boundaries and he will improve, yet here we have an adult who is doing this and should have grown out of it decades ago.

Yes I thought Annie admitted in a tweet they seldom even had scenes together. It's absolute nonsense.

A difference of opinion seems to be his only crime and Annie has signalled to the mob, no wonder he's deleted his Twitter account. Annie may claim there was no bullying, Jo might take a different view. It's very unpleasant behaviour.

Just looked them up, they're all still very much alive. Bit of a dynasty, actually. Paul was once a Doctor Who and Stephen's been in Call The Midwife since it started. Probably not a good choice of victim for a bully, you don't get much better connected unless you're a Redgrave, I think!

Entirely off topic... but until today I've spent my entire life thinking all the mcgann brothers were one person / actor 🤣 there's 4! You live and learn...

There are indeed 4 McGanns - Joe, Mark, Steve (currently in Call The Midwife) & Paul. Brother, not twins or triplets or quads. Met all of them apart from Paul as a spotty, specy teenage fan & they were all lovely - polite & considerate and coped so nicely with my stumbling attempts at adulthood. From the article, Joe seems to have merely disagreed with Wallace - surely that's allowed as adults / humans? This sort of thing is why one of our house rules is "Never join Twitter" (along with no naked photos, never type what you couldn't say out loud & only take organic drugs) - no matter how good intentions / desire for debate, it's just not worth it.

He's a good guy, he has retweeted lots of feminist stuff, he really gets it. He used to follow me. Sad that he's had to leave because of someone's attention seeking and crybullying behaviour but I don't blame him.

What rights are those then?
As opposed to men demanding the removal of the existing female legal protections for their own benefit, because THAT is rolling back women's rights. The ones they pretend we don't have, need or deserve.
