They've been rapped on the knuckles for making dodgy claims in their patronising adverts. Apparently Oatly have a very tenuous grasp of the concept of facts.

Ha de fucking ha.

It's been about six months now right? I estimate that they've lost around £100 of my custom so far.

However, there is a lot of nitpicking going on by the watchdog there. The omission of 'probably' that most people consider fish not meat(what is it then, a vegetable?!) I am pretty sure I've seen worse lies about how ethically sourced meat used in McDonalds is.

So whilst I hope they go bust soon, and consumers choose own brand or non misogynistic companies, I can't get that worked up about an advert stretching their eco credentials. I mean innocent smoothies were trying to push how eco they are in a recent ad. They're literally selling you a plastic bottle at a mark up, as the fruit blended inside would be much cheaper. How is that an eco product!? Even if they recycle every bottle, the mantra reduce, reuse, recycle goes in that order for a reason.
But on the plus side I don't have to see their smug ads until they make another. Win.

Yeah I'm basically happy with any slap down on smug twattery, so this made me smile this morning.

Apparently oat milk is terrible for people with diabetes. I know it doesn’t agree with my (not diabetic but bonkers blood sugar)

Oh, why?
Omicrone · 26/01/2022 18:02

You can buy Tesco own brand oat milk for half the price of Oatly now, and it's just as good anyway.

Unfortunately it’s not forfeited with iodine which is especially important for children and women.
WellThatsMeScrewed · 26/01/2022 18:09

@Forfamily123 my DC dietician said M&S own brand is also fortified. But this is the reason I keep buying Oatley because of dietary needs.

Penguinno · 26/01/2022 18:17

Oat Milk has higher carbs then soya and some nut milks.

VelvetChairGirl · 26/01/2022 18:25

Lidl own brand but oat milk in tea or coffee is horrible anyway, stick to soya

Thievesoil · 26/01/2022 18:27

It’s a ghastly processed product.

@Thievesoil it’s actually not! You can make your own oat milk at home with oats strained through a muslin. Just sayin’.

With iodine? I’m off to find out.

Forfamily123 · 26/01/2022 18:41

@WellThatsMeScrewed M and S one has more iodine in it. I will give it a try.

KittenKong · 26/01/2022 18:48

HWBWithStripes - I forget where I read it (recently) something to do with the GI index and type 2). Certain foods set me off and this is one of them!

AgathaMystery · 26/01/2022 20:08

Yup it’s appallingly bad for your blood glucose. But all milk & ‘milk’ is. It’s just liquid glucose.

I can bore you all to death with diabetes chat Confused

KittenKong · 27/01/2022 09:32

Telegraph today ‘ The truth about the great oat milk ‘con’ - haven’t read it yet.

Really?! Damn.
WellThatsMeScrewed · 27/01/2022 13:10

It may be ‘ghastly’ stuff but Oat milk has been a life saver to our family with nut and soya allergies. So please be careful in being too critical of it, many people have no choice.

That’s no comment on Oatley as a brand, luckily it’s avoidable!

IlIlI · 27/01/2022 13:17

Why were they arseholes before? I didn't know about anythin. I always buy it!

MondayYogurt · 27/01/2022 14:27

Their share price speaks for itself.

Leafstamp · 27/01/2022 14:33

Haha! Good. I wrote them about their stupid patronising article.

Here's the backstory for anyone unaware: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4152662-Oatly-takes-out-ad-in-The-Guardian-to-mock-desperately-out-of-touch-parents-about-pronouns-in-email-signatures?pg=2

Ooh tell me more! I don't really know how to find / track share prices. Has theirs been declining? (Crosses fingers)
