Jennifer Swayne has been arrested on charges of vandalism, ‘hate crimes’ and public order offences. Police searched her house and removed several sheets of stickers.

@TurquoiseBaubles

So Gwent Police have retweeted a BBC Wales News report about sharp objects behind stickers, and linked it (by inference) with Jennifer Swayne's arrest.

How on earth could they possibly think that's ok?

So far there are 17 likes and over 350 comments. Surely they must notice they've made a bit of a mistake here.

Charitably, perhaps Gwent Police are just not very bright.
NecessaryScene · 28/01/2022 08:09

Thanks for the GLC, Bosky. Safe.

Don't forget the track ...

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 28/01/2022 08:11

Thank you for the unexpected overview of Newport and music, Bosky

Bowie's far-sightedness in re: the internet, social media. And now I discover Goldie Lookin Chain being prescient.

It's a lot to take in.

Can't work out if they're not very bright, or just particularly misogynistic. Probably a combination of both tbh.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/01/2022 08:26

It's a popular combination.

WarriorN · 28/01/2022 08:27

Well, GLC we're clearly far more ahead of their time than we ever thought, Nec.

I was trying to be kind. I suspect that there's a massive dollop of misogynyin there as well.
KittenKong · 28/01/2022 08:50

Kind? The person who was blasting about doing their own stickering (apparently got the thumbs up from a police officer) is now being shown to be quite a differently person altogether than their cutesy persona they like to project. They have ‘alters’ that do bad things (apparently) - and I mean accused of awful things (but it was their ‘alter’).

And their pal was banned from twitter after an incident (so to get banned from twitter - you can imagine it was bad).

And these are the folks the police are seemingly taking instruction from? Madder than a box of frogs.

There is now someone under the Times article claiming sharp objects were hidden under the stickers and citing police for evidence.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 28/01/2022 09:20

Goldie Lookin Chain

Now that was an album

You knows it

Unless the police have said something else since yesterday, they have not categorically stated that there was anything under Jennifer's stickers and posters...
Igneococcus · 28/01/2022 09:25

I know, the commenter quotes Vicky whatshername in a way that makes it sound like it was said about Jenny.

The police have created a mess here haven't they? Won't this prejudice any case against Jennifer and/or is it libellous? They appear to be utter fuckwits.
vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 28/01/2022 10:29

Does anyone know Jarad Iqbal? Good letter, can't find anyone likely on twitter.

Igneococcus · 28/01/2022 10:40

He writes fairly frequently comment pieces for the Times but I know nothing else about him vivarium

KittenKong · 28/01/2022 10:48

A crowd finder is going live this morning according to Fair Cop is anyone is interested.

BaronMunchausen · 28/01/2022 10:48

The BBC report states that 'Gwent Police said it had issued guidance to people not to remove posters in Newport "after sharp objects had been found behind them."'

I assume from the use of the passive voice (?) that this was second hand information, that the police didn't discover the sharp objects.

If so, it's astounding that the police presented rumours or reports - and a serious allegation about a case they are supposed to be investigating - as fact.

Thank you. I will look for this on the fair cop twitter page.

The police have been made aware of these allegations

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 28/01/2022 11:44

It's clear they pick and choose who they target, that delightful person posting STFU terf and guns sticker was reported and gets nothing more than a welfare check

Remember that sex isn't a protected strand in hate crime, misogyny isn't a hate crime. Transwomen are protected by hate crime laws, women aren't.

Jesus wept. This is beyond farce.

The person claims they may or may not have raped their partner. They're not really sure, because one of their other personalities might have done it. It's happened before, but the person died of old age before they could apologise, but they paid for her funeral??

And that they're so famous that passers-by in the street are asking them if it's true they're a rapist.

I can't even begin to unpick any of that, whether it's deliberate to make them look bat shit, or are they really are bat shit, but one thing's for sure, I can't wait to see the police justifying their reliance on their testimony, to the tune of arresting a disabled woman for using stickers.

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 28/01/2022 12:06

Whoaaaaa, that twitter thread is crazy. They seem very.........unwell. Is that the person who drew the police's attention to the "unacceptable" stickers in the first place? The ones advocating for womens rights that didn't contain any guns.

Or is that another unrelated individual who took it upon themselves to get involved. Presumably to show off their own stickers.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 28/01/2022 12:11

Yes

It seems clear that this person is both vulnerable AND dangerous

The police are not being kind to anyone involved and are showing themselves to be incredibly naive
